#BellaNaijaMCM Sunday Falaye is the Entrepreneur Tackling Nigeria’s Power Crisis with Econergco

See, if you live in Nigeria, you’re already familiar with the power situation, and by situation, we mean, inadequate or lack of it.

Our #BellaNaijaMCM this week Sunday Falaye has dedicated his time to being part of the solution to the problem.

He founded Econergco Limited, an eco-friendly energy company with a mission to eradicate energy poverty and eliminate greenhouse gas emissions.

The company provides reliable and cost-effective solar energy solutions and efficient lighting services for both off-grid and on-grid electricity consumers.

Econergco also runs several programs, including Solar4Health Initiative through which it works with international and local stakeholders in primary health care delivery to provide the much needed power supply to the primary health centres across the country so as to save lives.

Through its LED Lighting Initiative, Econergco, in partnership with stakeholders, to encourage LED lighting adoption for homes, offices and public lighting across the country, thereby helping to achieve the reduction in energy consumption and considerable cutting of carbon emissions. (The use of incandescent bulbs in Nigeria’s lighting sector is responsible for about 35% of the country’s total power consumption.

Econergco also works in the agriculture sector through its Solar Irrigation Initiative where it works with partners and stakeholders in various farming initiatives in Nigeria, especially in rice production, to promote the use of solar powered pumps in irrigation schemes across the country. Through this, Econergco helps to reduce the current high cost of irrigation and guarantee all-year crop production which in turn improves food security of the country.

Sunday holds a B.Tech degree in Estate Management from Federal University of Technology, Minna, and a Masters degree in Urban Management & Development from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

He also has certificates and diplomas in entrepreneurship, business administration and public private infrastructure partnerships from Enterprise Development Centre of Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, Smartly Business School and University of Queensland.

He’s named as one of the Top 50 Entrepreneurs with the most Significant and Sustainable Impact in Africa by African Entrepreneurship Award. He’s also Tony Elumelu Foundation entrepreneur and one of the Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa fellows for 2018.

We celebrate Sunday Falaye for contributing his quota to tackling the power crisis in Nigeria and we’re rooting for him!
