…Sounds like every other reality show on VH1! lol!. I feel kinda sad for the winner though….some of the things that come with that kinda fame is not always very good….”Kokolette” for a year…what does that entail, really????
I trust D’banj will have fun with this!

    • Yinka Abraham April 17, 2009 at 8:14 PM

shit!!! i may be in canada! how can i watch it here? :( :( : ( but damn….dbanj’s on a diff level

    • ladi April 17, 2009 at 9:24 PM

He officially has no class. And I pity the kokollete winner especially in our Nigerian society. I doubt any classy educated, intellecttually ’rounded’ chic will enter that competition. Like RayJ and Flav show its always fame hungry ‘ghetto’ chics who want TV airtime.

Kokolette for one year???? Insult upon injury…lol! Tufia!

Ofcourse he will make money sha.

    • ladi April 17, 2009 at 9:26 PM

Companion??? Sorry, this is disturbing my feminist state of mind.

    • Elpee April 17, 2009 at 9:49 PM

Tell me about it? Kokolette for a year? so after that year he’ll do a new one and it’ll be a new chick in the bed? Pls dat N5 million should be used to build charity for all those suffering kids in Naija. Oh do sth to better naija not some money grubbing chick who’s not interested in working for it…

Bella sha pls help us get videos for us in Canada who don’t have the luxury of HiTV. I want to see this thing. I don’t like how Naija is becoming too Westernized. Pls lets retain our values and culture. The Oyinbo do and r imposin it on us… lets impose ours on them.

    • aproko!!! April 17, 2009 at 9:59 PM

    • KELLY April 17, 2009 at 11:32 PM

SO U PEOPLE ARE TELLING ME DAT AFTA ONE YEAR, DBANJ WOULD REMOVE THE RING FROM THE KOKOETTES FINGER AND DIVORCE HER FOR A NU KOKOETTE??

      JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL!!!

    • kpolongo April 17, 2009 at 11:46 PM

smart idea my ass!!its is a shallow and demeaning concept!!!
anyway they are not twisting any girls arm to appear in the show…so goodluck to the ghetto ass gals that will be there!

    • Funmie April 18, 2009 at 12:32 AM

D’ang is looking for a bed mate a.k.a sleeping partner for keeps for one full yr… as in 365 days.
oh mine, u have got to be kidding me!
what happens to the chikito after the yr now?

    • baby April 18, 2009 at 1:14 AM

he doesnt need a bed mate!!! he already gets dem anyhow

    • Olivia April 18, 2009 at 2:12 AM

I wish they’d dump all these westernized nonsense and go back to our roots. How about a show with a witty, wise, woman who match makes young couples based on commonalities of good old values such as chemistry, respect, belief system, hard work, nurturing spirit…….
Anyways, good luck to the ‘kokolets’…hmmmn disturbing on so many levels.

    • Ladi April 18, 2009 at 3:15 AM

      lol@ Aproko.

The show is there because there is a demand. From a business standpoint, it will be a money maker and then charity can be done afterwards.

You are complaining but you want to watch the show, see the exact reason why there is a demand.

Talking about being westernized, will you relocate to Nigeria to promote our culture? or make Oyibos go to 9ja they way you left?

    • Ladi April 18, 2009 at 3:17 AM

Join the likes of Deelishis and New York on Flav to humiliate and ‘de-class’ yourself on TV, then the ring is yours. Sorry, I’m being harsh

    • 4me April 18, 2009 at 7:34 AM

big up d’banj, let see how it goes, about westernernzed, most things we used and pratice in naija or africa originated frm oyibo’s.pls try and do it perfectly nd dont disrect ur ladies.

    • yves la rock** April 18, 2009 at 8:04 AM

      OMG i actually cannot wait!!!

    • pam April 18, 2009 at 1:19 PM

Like most of the shows that are copied in Nigeria, the supporting environment for these participants to exploit is very thin. No spin offs like “I love New York” likely, or lingerie lines or half naked magazine covers for King and thier likes.
After fighting over Dbanj and undergoing “grooming” on TV… where will the fame take them? Its all about Dbanj reinforcing his rep as a player who can keep 12 girls jumping through hoops in public to have him on his terms. For a year.

Any girl that sees this as a platform needs either forget it or get a PR team of her own to ensure she manipulates how she is viewed… at least as much as she can before it ends up on the editing bin.

The arm candy hanging on his arm for a year will probably have the roughest time with all kinds of illiterate media hawks picking her every move to shreds… and calling her an ashewo.

Good luck to them all. It should be a hit.

    • waffarian April 18, 2009 at 3:41 PM

chei! this thing will be funny ohhhhh heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee meanwhile, the prize sucks…why anybody go wan be kokolette for one “FULL” year? dat one na punishment na…dey follow am dey waka like craise person….dat one na full time job oh….abi na free PA im dey find?

    • Elpee April 18, 2009 at 4:38 PM

I live here cuz im with my parents but dat doesn’t mean i take on their values as some people do when they come here. I give it to them as I would if i were in naija. I brought my country to them and wat i see happening in naija scares me cuz when i return i want it to be the naija with all the naija quanta not naija with western quanta… some of the change is good sure but not all shuld b changed like this.

Aproko if u wan buy m ticket i go come back naija come sleep cuz omo life here no sweet like naija…i miss everything

I want to see it cuz im sure its going to b hilarious nd i want to see the kind of girls that go on this.

    • reeeemo April 18, 2009 at 9:13 PM

Truth B, before you all holla urselves silly, the show is not another flava of love, but about a young man, who is an entertainer and popular as the key driver (metaphor), for the Nigerian male, and his search for a perfect partner, or a woman that has the values that we respect in Africa (bold, Assertive, Beautiful, entertaining, intelligent etc), and putting these 12 young women to test in a house, encouraging a national interactive on discourse on TV, about what the values and challenges of a young woman in NIgeria today are, and how do we judge the qualities of a good woman. D’Banj is not gonna marry her, neither is he gonna have anything to do with her after the show, apart from her appearing as HI babe(Hi TV representative) at events, occasions and other important and charitable occasions. D’Banj is the metaphor for that search. Its not a tarty show, no nakedness (so if ur looking for that forget it). Its gonna be decent, wholesome, entertaining fun, with humor, drama, yes, some controversy, plenty of music and plenty of talking points. So people….pls get it right

    • Bridget Senam April 18, 2009 at 9:33 PM

I PITY ALL THOSE AIMLESS GALS WHO CONTEST…..SUCH A STUPID PROGRAMME CAN ONLY HAPPEN IN 9JA BUT NOT IN GHANA.

    • nne April 18, 2009 at 9:41 PM

      What a silly comment!

    • JT April 18, 2009 at 11:17 PM

kokolet or watever they call it….for one year!!? what are they like shoes that need replacement or what. That just sounds all wrong

    • KELLY April 19, 2009 at 1:21 AM

aimless comment. bet u ur ghana folks would soon b copying d concept as they normally do.

    • KELLY April 19, 2009 at 1:26 AM

please would b winner change her surname to kokoette cos i dont understand @ all.

    • oops April 19, 2009 at 2:54 AM

Of course it can’t happen in Ghana; you don’t have ANY star as big as D’banj. In fact do you have musicians? Hiss! No wonder MTV and Chanel O are basically Nigerian channels.

    • Sugabelly April 19, 2009 at 8:20 AM

yawn. won’t sell if there’s no nakedness. we might as well be watching NTA Kiddies Christmas party. What, are they going to tell the women to cook and make beds to see who does it best???

Sex is an African virtue so stop kidding yourself. Dbanj is all about sex. What do you think No Long Thing is about? Listen closely to the lyrics of his songs.

Please, Dbanj knows what he’s looking for so stop deceiving yourself and attempting to deceive us.

    • Bea Pearl April 19, 2009 at 9:11 AM

    • na wa o April 19, 2009 at 10:42 PM

i can see dbanj does not know what to do with his money… this is just so stupid.. so the so called winner will just parade along with him for a full year like an escort..thats just bull shit well if it was me which it will never be, i would just take the money the car and ring and go ..one whole year following d banj is just stupid.it does not make any sense

    • pepe April 20, 2009 at 2:12 AM

it obvioulsy isnt dbanj’s money…but it is still a dumb idea….instead of them to give that money to charity…there are lots of orphanages in 9ja that need help!!!

    • wale oloro-gbogbo bigz boys April 20, 2009 at 3:51 AM

yea..u’re very correct..its so gibberish..If the lady was to look after his Koko Foundation as its ambassador and do charity4d whole year,it would have been better..Would he say he wont sleep with her since they’ll be travelling worldwide if need be..It doesnt make sense..Or if he was to be married, would his wife all him to travell all around with a so-called Kokolet, why not he get married and make his wife d kokolet and pay her like that..Like one commenter said,so every year,he’ll change the ring on each of dem…2much money is worrying him..i hope he wouldnt meet his downfall with this o..

    1 2 3 ... 14
