Africa in the Building! 2Face, D’banj, Tiwa Savage & Fally Ipupa at the 2011 BET Awards Pre-Awards Events

The 2011 BET Awards airs live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California today Sunday June 26 2011.
African stars 2Face Idibia, D’banj, D-Black, Angelique Kidjo, Fally Ipupa and Teargas are competing for the Best International Act (Africa) prize.
Stars with African parentage are also doing us proud in other categories. Idris Elba (Sierra Leonean and Ghanaian parentage) is up for the Best Actor prize; Laura Izibor (Laura’s father is Nigerian), Skepta (Nigerian parentage – Real Name: Joseph Junior Adenuga), Tinchy Stryder (Ghanaian parentage – Real Name: Kwasi Danquah) and Tinie Tempah (Nigerian parentage – Real Name: Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu) are all competing for the Best International Act (UK) award.
Leading up to the main show tonight, our stars and music industry executives including Cecil Hammond, Efe Omorogbe and Seun Bankulli have been hanging out with their American counterparts at the various pre-award events.

I was going to say something about the fellows wearing their shades indoors but then saw Mary J Blige and had to keep mum. But the guys look good. Some of the Americans were looking scruffy/ unkempt (Lloyd, Master P, The game, … even Mario) … My Nigerian men looking classy. #notsayingawordabouttheshades

Not sure about Angelique Kidjoe and Dblack’s efforts in the past year, however, I would say that Fally Ipupa is a certain threat to either of our Nigerian stars taking this home.
However, if it is down to 2Face and Dbanj, I would expect it to go to 2 face. This ofcourse is based on my impression of the artistic content of his last album. Dbanj ofcourse has his ever increasing international stature going for him.
Long and short: I don’t know what criteria BET uses to judge this but my prediction is that Fally Ipupa takes the prize and if not, 2face

Kevin Hart is tiny! Jeez! Boris is one of the sexiest men alive #thatisall! That said, shame that Dbanj and Tuface won in the same category (that wasn’t even given podium time); only other people with a shared award were Will and Jada Smith’s kids! Dodgy! BET needs to get their act together and our stars should realize that they are slowly coming into the place where they can boycott awards if they are not given the respect/honor due them.

Tuface and Mary J should have a song together, it will be the most amazing ever. Take it or leave it 2Baba is the most talented singer in Africa. I remembered the first time i heard him on sunrise fm Enugu in 1995 he blew me away. Mary J is also talented and timeless. Just happy for all the winners.
Without even tryna be funny, maybe Tiwa was there for “boy-boy” work das why she’s dressed that way. Shey she has some contracts in Yankee? Maybe she culdnt get all glammed up because of her role that evening. Me i don’t knw sha but I knw one day she’ll be the one getting nominated and maybe for an even more prestigious award!
