2012 Arise Magazine Fashion Week: Vonne Couture presents “Black Mamba”

With its mysterious and lethal namesake, we had high expectations for “Black Mamba” the new collection by Yvonne Nwosu‘s Vonne Couture.
The name definitely mirrored the collection – from the all-black hue to the slinky dresses, this collection is targeted at the lady who’s not afraid of being a vamp!
Official Collection Description
The Black Mamba collection is Haute Couture inspired by dark and rich textures which is different from
Vonne’s previous Arise Magazine Fashion Week collection that featured Damask. The Arise collection consists of Classy, Sexy and Fierce with unique pieces ranging from dresses, shirts, skirts and pants.

So ill fitting. I really was expecting a collection that would kill it, based on the name. MAJOR disappointment. Step your game up. Or better yet, develop some originality especially when working with an all-black palette. It’s easier to notice we’ve seen every style several times.

Yes not wow! But she understands what a “collection” is. There is a central theme and its interpreted througn out the collection! I like this. A lot of the designers presented individual pieces without a central theme and called it a collection
See, the tricky thing about doing a black collection is that it can go sooo wrong and soo right. In this case, it is a hot mess sorry. Nothing special here. I am not bashing any of our designers but we need to be honest at the same time. House of Nwocha did the same mistake, in almost having a all black collection – hot mess!!!!!!!!
I believe in a designer, that takes his/her time, even if you end up not hearing anything from them for the next 2 years. To be honest, some of our designers are not there yet!! I am yet waiting to be blown away!

The comments loaded before the images so I wasnt expecting much, but this was really disappointing. Every aspect from cut to finish was amateur. I know this designer for jackets which she does well so maybe she should have stuck to that. Dress 9 wins “The Ugliest Dress at Arise” award.
i think the collection was nice n also some of u are being unreasonably harsh here. if u dont like it, state and explain wat was wrong with d collection instead of just condeming the whole thing.

i done really like black dresses…but this collection had me rethinking.i liked the materials used and the extraordinary designs.
Total rubbish and i usually like her designs. These ones are a no no.

Wow is this the same vonne??! She feels different, not so new and a bit comfortable I can personally see myself in 1 or 2.

I love the concept she was trying to create- sophisticated lady of the world with the black gloves and cigarette holders……but sadly, a lot of the pieces were poorly sewn and looked plain tacky esp the 1st dress
The designer’s pose at the end of the show does not show “class”…haba, she no try, she no dey watch FTV?lol
