Just a few months ago, Lisa Folawiyo of Jewel by Lisa was in Italy for the 2012 Vogue Talents ‘Who is Next’ exhibition.
In addition, the brand also participated in the Touch!, neoZone and Cloud Nine exhibition hosted by Pitti Immagine. All under the umbrella of creative development agency, StyleHouseFile’s Lagos Fashion and Design Week.
The output from all this activity has been fruitful.
From the Jewel by Lisa online trunkshow on uber-luxe fashion retail site Moda Operandi and now the brand’s collaboration with international cosmetics and beauty giant, L’Oréal. Pop into your favorite beauty or department store in Italy and you will see the limited edition Jewel by Lisa lipstick and nail polish by L’Oréal.
This is major news as it is the first time an African fashion brand has collaborated with the a major international beauty brand! Collaborations of this kind go a long way in pushing the African fashion sphere.
You can check out photos of the products below and your first look at JBL’s Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook.

Nice!!! Congrats JBL, you are on the big things trajectory already
The Jewel By Lisa brand is clearly a forward thinking, going-places, international brand. Mad props to Lisa Folawiyo and her JBL team. She’s putting Nigeria on the world map – for positive reasons! Bless! Xx
WELL DONE! Its really not about who’s the best its about who’s the smartest!
making me dizzy ;x(
I love Jbl, but I remember vividly when she went on and on about Burberry stealing her prints but correct me if I’m wrong, but are those curvy/wavy hems not same as Stella Macartney summer 2012?????
I agree- seems SM inspired but its lovely all the same..excellent execution JBL
There are high-end African-owned fashion houses, and then there’s Jewel by Lisa. Squarely in a league of their own. Do you need more evidence? Moda Operandi, Blackberry, Selfridges and L’Oreal in one year? I’ll drink to that.
@sandra, @mimi and the rest, where are you lot now? Burying your heads in shame. LOL.
God bless JBL. This brand is absolute fire!
You are deliberately missing the point. No one questioned the quality of jbl’s pr and marketing. It is stellar (mad props to Zara!!) they questioned the quality of the product because it doesn’t always live up to the hype.
But if you are really a die hard fan, why are you trying to restart negativity on a post that celebrates the brands achievements.
simple and chic.her brand is definitely going places
Talk about great branding! Good job, Zara Okpara!
Very lovely..I see clothes I can wear…love the lipstick and polish case
Beautiful.
I’m very impressed but I also think the Model, photography and simplicity really sells this. Meaning she has direction from the Vogue people. Its cool really.
Weldone to JBL and her team.
