Ty Bello is BACK!
The multi-talented musician/photographer who lit up the music scene with her debut album “Green Land” and smash hit anthem – “Green Land” aka The Land is Green.
BellaNaija.com has just received an exclusive listen of her brand new single – “The Future” and we are sharing it with YOU.
The video for “The Future” is being directed by Kemi Adetiba and will be filmed on Sunday 27th February 2011.
We love the song and the message behind it. We hope you do too!

Story Behind the Music – “The Future”
by Ty Bello

I had committed to writing a jubilee song for Nigeria. I was moved to hone in on my message on December 31, 2010 when we were shocked by the Abuja bombings. In my view, the bombings are a metaphor of the hopelessness and impending tragedy that may lie ahead if we do not become more engaged in building the country we desire. I realize that the crisis in the nation is beyond the political. We each need to personalize Project Nigeria and take a stand for Nigeria NOW. And so, the first lines of the song are about just how important we are as a generation at this time in our history. My hope is that as you listen to this song, you are stirred and realize that the future that we dream of is not way ahead of us. By looking within NOW ,we draw in that future. One action. One person at a time. We must embrace the moment. I leave you with the words of my friend, Fela Durotoye: “Deliver the future: We can. We must. We will.”

When Bella Naija tweeted that there was a major exclusive, I thought it was some news about Genevieve and D’banj getting married or something. This is much nicer. I love her music, so much joy and hope resonates in it. I wish I could pull off her natural look from her hair to her brows. But I’ll just end up looking like Wolverine’s mother. 🙁

natural hair isn’t that dificult to manage.. you just have to take your time and find out what your hair loves the most..

I love the song and it’s what most of us Nigerians should be nodding to but then the speed of the general hustle means more folks will be up for meaningless jibes rather than art works like this. TY Bello rocks!

I love her, love the song, love her hair, just love her. I wish she chose another video director, Kemi Adetiba doesn’t seem to have much range as a director. But I am still excited to see.

      February 21, 2011 at 1:43 pm

where did my comment go, bella? i said she could be part Fulani, which would explain her being fully naija and her hair. hissssss.

    • Kémi Penélopê

      February 22, 2011 at 1:55 pm

My sister is not mixed or fulani & she’s got curly hair…

    • Smallie

      February 21, 2011 at 11:56 pm

Her hair style can be the result of a “Twist and Curl out”. It doesn’t have to do with being mixed!

  35. Queenbee

    February 21, 2011 at 12:00 pm

PURE! That is the only word that comes to my mind… hair, voice, face, song… everything is PURE …….

    Very nice music and look.
Refreshing option from so much (sorry) hay-dry grass weaves. Still soft and beautiful. Aloe vera works wonderful on natural hair and good products give this look too.

Wow the song is great, can’t fault it,i find it a wee little similar to waving flag by Knaan and that’s more reason to love it. Ty is fantastic

wellcome back TY Bello, the natural hair is my inspiration to finally go 100% natural again(2011). Green signifies pure, refreshing both in music and looks, so am Looking forward to listening to all her music and watching Kemi Adetiba directed video. BN I know this feature is about her music, but please ask her to do a commentary on Natural Hair as well, she is a great poster model for this movement, natural products and all.
