Tanzanian designer Anisa Mpungwe is the creative force behind Loin Cloth & Ashes. Her most recent collection titled; ‘Confessions of a High Bohemian‘ was released a while back. The collection features floral dresses, ethnic prints, quite a variety of nude shades(which is a hot summer trend), dressy satin numbers, statement earrings and printed purses.
About the collection: “I have been Inspired by a book titled “(un)fashion” by Tibor Kalman & Maira Kalman, for many years now. They have such a witty way of showing how real people across the globe dress on the streets in an unconventional fashion. While also listening to plenty of S.E Rogie’s Palm Wine Guitar Music (afro-folk). I took a liking to the Ultra Feminine women in the streets of New York City – CLB red soles & the150 strut per minute – powder kissed palette infused with saturated blossomed hues, modern tribal expressions with drapery and cinched waists. Their confidence towards life was intriguing and something that I definitely see happening back home.”- Anisa Mpungwe
