“The Breathless Experience” Collection by Miss Majin

On Sunday 20th November 2011, Miss Majin unveiled her latest collection “The Breathless Experience” at the Civic Centre.

Here’s what Miss Majin said about her collection I named my collection after one of my songs. Obviously the song is titled breathless. It’s a song I wrote and eventually recorded. “Breathless also means excitement, the lyrics of the song is about a person that makes you very excited. Beautiful clothes excites me as well as a lot of other people so I wanted the name of the collection to represent this excitement and experience . And so the ‘Breathless Experience Collection’ came to be.
When you’re excited it shows, it’s a natural, genuine feeling not forced. That’s exactly how I wanted the collection to be. I wanted beautiful clothes with a careless charm to them. In choosing the fabrics I had a mix of abstract prints, cotton lace, Chantilly lace, crepe, chiffon .

I also played with a few precious stones and pearls. With the accessories used I created my own. My sister was commenting on one of the outfits and she mentioned that people would think it was a ready made accessory attached to one of my dresses not knowing I created 3 elements to get that look.
With the colors, I used different colors but I didn’t want the colors to be too bold or the styles exaggerated. I wanted to have some lightness and freedom to the entire collection.
I named the models disco princesses”

I am surprised by the utter lack of taste exhibited in the previous comments. The fact that there is nothing specific in the negativity shows that the comments are at best ignorant.

One of the few true designers finally puts out a worthy, inspired collection, and it is a problem?

The word”breathless” hyped it up and the designs did not live up to the hype…everyone is entitled to their opinion isnt that so?

indeed the clothes look like music, fab job…but as a designer ur job is to discipline and guide ur ideas into wearable chic clothes…some of them are not

I am not really feeling the designs. In my own opinion think their mum’s collection was far better. They should be more creative or find another passion.

  26. Darkvixen

    December 11, 2011 at 2:54 am

No one is saying don’t be critical, but when done constructively it will be taken well and improved upon. But when ‘some’ people open their rear orfice to spew negative comments it’s disheartening.

    December 13, 2011 at 12:32 pm

@darkvixen, the criticism touch you too much sha… can’t people share their opinions again? abi must every body agree with you? There’s nothing breathless about this collection. period.

  33. Igbofille

    December 13, 2011 at 1:54 pm

When I see fashion display I am always looking for something I can wear. Unfortunately I didnt see anyone here that I can wear without removing some materials from them but that doesnt mean they are all bad. Nigerians have seen quality so anyone who wants to present anything must never go below what is obtainable. You can do better next time Miss Majin but dont give up.

  34. Jazmine

    December 13, 2011 at 5:53 pm

Gosh!!! I think people are allergic to a designer that actually sits down and ‘creates’… intricately.

The use of art –lines and shapes–and the mixing of fabrics come together so well.

  35. alawiye

    December 16, 2011 at 11:40 am

There’s too much going on the clothes. The netting looks cheap and tacky on some pieces. Nice concept though but less may be more. Overall not a bad job. Kudos to the designer
