From Tuesday the 30th of October to Friday the 2nd of November, international Tennis sensation Serena and Venus Williams will be in Lagos as part of the ‘Break The Mould‘ campaign. Break The Mould is a women’s empowerment initiative aimed ‘to help women at various life stages of their lives – embark on a journey of self-belief so that they can know they can achieve anything

As part of the Break The Mould mission statement and their desire to acknowledge African women and the importance of their role in society, the Williams’ sisters will be attending ‘a gala dinner, a tennis clinic and an exhibition match’. According to the press release issued by Connect Marketing Services, the match “will also be the first time the sisters will pit their strengths against one another on the tennis court anywhere in Africa”

i feel that if nigerian government invested in athletics for its youths, maybe there wouldnt be so much kidnapping and the youths can have something to aspire to … I mean thats what most developed countries do, find and sport sports to keep their youths off the streets … Naija wake up, because i dont see how serena and venus coming will do anything ..unless the gov is going to fund a tenis program for all youths in the federation. i believe we nurture the talents our youths have they can even grow and excel higher than these two wonderful women.
