If the movie trailer is anything to go by, Dark Side will keep us talking for a very long time.
The movie which stars Joseph Benjamin, Uru Eke, Bayo Alawiye, KC Ejelonu and Nobert Young is described as a story of “betrayal, greed, desperation and darkness so blinding it leaves you wondering what the world has become”.
It was written by Tijani Balogun, and produced and directed by Bayo Alwaiye.
The movie will premiere in cinemas this May. Check out some exclusive behind-the-scenes photos
Synopsis – Dark Side
Before Sir Richard Awala passed on, he made sure Bankole, his only child got married to his one-time best friend’s daughter, Deola. Without a trace of love, they walk down the aisle. An accident, however, leaves Bankole Awala blind, and Deola gets constantly irritated by the situation. Apart from the burden of now living with a blind man she doesn’t love, Deola has a secret of her own – Kayode, Bankole’s best friend, is her lover.
In one of their raunchy moments, Sheila – a disgruntled ex-employee – reappears to claim certain entitlements from her former boss only to find his wife and his best friend in an entanglement of lust. In a quick twist of fate, the three of them become allies. They now plot to murder Bankole. The plan is to make it look like natural death. Kayode is apprehensive, Deola is eager, and Sheila cannot wait to lay her hands on the kind of money she’d only dreamed of – over two hundred billion naira cash deposit in Bankole’s account and a multi-billion naira gas kingdom of the Awalas!

Lateh L got the story upside down. What happened to that promiscous lady is nt what u have said and that’s where the suspense lies. It is sometin that happens everyday that people shy away from even with its attendant dire consequences. I think Bayo had done justice to this story. Well done.

95% of movies world wide are obvious. Tell me you did not know that Bradley Copper would fall in love with Jennifer Lawrence in SilverLining Playbook…or bad guy Sean Penn will not be caught and dealt with after terrorizing the town for yonks in Gangsta Squad. Predictability is not the problem, execution is what you should worry about. And if it is properly executed, then it is worth the time. That said, I love the trailer

I dont see the reason why we behave as if we belong to another planet even as Nigerians (wanna be Americans even when we stay in Ajegule right there in my neigbourhood) and all we do is set other people’s good jobs and efforts on fire by our utterances. There is no movie that i have see all over the world that i cant tell you how it will end. Is not abot the story being obvious or parhaps you have seen a similar Ghanaian movie before. It is about the creativity and execution strategy being brought into this. And honestly, i love the trailer too and i think the Producer must have put alot into this. Let us learn to appreciate our own. Well done Mr Producer.

Some recently did The gods are still not to blame. Without seeing that movie, i know what will happen in that movie because there is a book narrating that story already (The gods are not to blame). But is not about that story line but the creativity. I dont know why we are quick to condemn our own Nigeria Movies while we die to see American movies even despite the tricks and its apparent familiarity in the story line. Is it because of the accent or what? We are Africans and not Americans. We should learn to embrace our own.
