AYE Awards -February 2013-BellaNaija002

Abuja get ready! The countdown to the 2013 edition of the Abuja Young Entrepreneurs Awards (AYE Awads) has finally begun. The awards which will hold this April is sure to be a great night of celebration, glamour, entertainment and recognition of outstanding individuals and groups in the metropolis.

The event will be organised by Fusion Lifestyle Limited and will be infused with music from top Nigerian musicians, comedy and a fashion show. Awards will be given in 13 categories as well as 3 honorary awards for outstanding entrepreneurship and philanthropy.

AYE Awards -February 2013-BellaNaija001

The founder of the awards Samiah Oyekan-Ahmed believes “There has been a recent boom in entrepreneurship in young individuals in Abuja. These enterprising individuals have taken the bold and risky step towards self sustenance, becoming employers of labour and inadvertently driving the economy. Despite all these, they are not privy to the same recognition and support as their counterparts in other cities”. He said concerning the awards that “The AYE Awards were created to celebrate these young achievers and place them on a platform for the rest of the country, and indeed the world to see, whilst also encouraging the younger generation to see entrepreneurship as a viable and satisfying life option”.

Voting is well under way and you can cast yours at www.ayeawards.com where full details of the awards are available.

I totally agree – it is a ‘clique’ thing – surely Abuja has many more budding entrepreneurs who contribute greatly to the economy, born without the golden spoon as most of these nominees. This is a farce, i salute the young women behind these awards BUT please widen your scope, and nominate other people, better still throw it to the public to nominate, or conduct a proper market research to get more young people.

NOOOOOOOOO! i can count at least 20 ppl on this list who werent there last year! i think its unfair that cos someine has wealthy parents he/she shldnt be nominated for awards, especially when if you think about it, they prob dont need to work, but choose to! Well done to the team, look forward to attending again this year. PS: pls no Wizkid and “cameo” performances this year.

Congratulations to all the nominees! For me, the Young Entrepreneur of the year award would be a toss up between Ameera of the Nail Bar and Wanger Ayu of DMP. I love Tulip. I’ve met one of the owners and she is very pleasant and welcoming; and their muffins are divine! Rooting for Tessy Uyah of Serendipity in fashion and design. Her prices are reasonable and her pieces are timeless. I still wear outfits from her 2009/10 collection and they still look fab. She needs to work on her manners though so she doesn’t put potential clients off. I’m not a fan of Chloe’s cupcake haven cos I think they are boring after the first few bites. All the cupcakes seem to taste the same. However I like the shop. It’s very quaint. I am surprised Yogurberry isn’t listed. Maybe cos it’s relatively new? It’s very in and their frozen yogurts are a yummylicious healthy alternative to ice cream. May the best person win! 🙂 *off to vote for my faves*

Adelegirl pls where is yogurberry located in abj?

    • adelegirl

      April 12, 2013 at 5:41 pm

Sorry Blessing. Only just seen this now and I am sure you must have located Yogurberry by now. But just in case, you haven’t, it’s on Bangui crescent off Adetokunbo Ademola in wuse 2. Bangui is the street almost adjacent to alscon filling station, it’s the first right turn after the intersection linking the AP plaza side of Adetokunbo Ademola to the Amigos Supermarket side. Hope this helps. Cheers.

This award is all about you soliciting for your votes…….what’s an award when it’s about them sending messages to their friends and well wishes to vote for them….then it’s no longer merit, just say we choose who we love best in a category…

Abuja young Entrepreneurs Award……….awards like this is to encourage young entrepreneurs as well as young businesses just to pull them up to the great ones but all i see are middle age ones on the award list and large firms too.same list as that of last year.Is it that you were unable to discover the new entrepreneurs in the city or this is a politics thing?or we should re visit your mission and vision statement again

This is purely a Clique thing a group of friends honouring themselves. Although I do believe some are well deserved but really lets be real there are some people who should be on this list! How many times you going to nominate the same people . There are so many new business’s and old ones that haven’t featured before that could be on this list now!!! Anyway I won’t say much but Hmmm!!!

  17. Madamtalktalk

    March 14, 2013 at 9:51 pm

I want to know how they came up with this list!! I bet you No Market research was done what’s so ever!!! Please take my advice there should be a people’s choice category involve the actual consumer let them vote!!!

  18. mona

    March 15, 2013 at 12:17 pm

yeah right! these so called nominees are the same people who advertise their products and services at Samiah Oyekan-Ahmed’s event ‘FUSSION’ so in other words if u want to be nominated next year, no matter how crappy and sub-standard your goods and services are, then participate in the fussion fair and u would definitely get nominated. this is a sham!!!

    • Amber

      April 22, 2013 at 7:21 pm

That is so not fair, I have never seen nail bar, tulip, mathilda duncan, white nigerian, redance africa at fusion and they all won in their categories. So there goes ur stupid theory.

the same set of pple that contested last year are same pple there this year, when u tell niminees to come pick form @will and get people to vote for them?this is not a deserved award, bt award based on the no of pple u can get to vote for u.there are lots of entrepreneurs out there who can do more than ur so called nominees. this award is for me isnt genuine, its just a show off that you can organise one
