**MUST SEE**BN Red Carpet Fab: The 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards
It was all about glitz and glamour in Lagos on Saturday 9th March 2013. The anticipated inaugural edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards took place in style at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. As expected the awards ceremony drew the attendance of some of the biggest names in the African movie and music industry.
The show hosted by Nigerian media personality/BBA host IK Osakioduwa and Zimbabewean TV star/former BBA contestant Vimbai Mutinhiri, kicked off at 7 PM.
From Jackie Appiah and OC Ukeje taking home top honours as the best actress and actor respectively to electric on-stage performances by Femi Kuti, Tiwa Savage, Banky W, Efya and Iyanya, the show lived up to critical expectations.

Grecian-Inspired
TV Presenter Yvonne “Vixen” Ekwere dazzled at the awards ceremony on Saturday in a purple Grecian-esque dress by Jovani from Exquisite Style. The floor length dress with silver embellishments, was styled with silver drop earrings, a diamond ring and a purple clutch. Yvonne finished her look by letting her hair down and opting for smoky eyes, highlighted eyebrows and light purple lipstick.
Nigerian songstress Waje posed on the red carpet in a gold dress by Enthyst. The dress which features silver embellishments on the shoulder and on the waist, was accessorized with gold stud earrings, an ivory-gold clutch and a gold bracelet. Opting for an up do, Waje wore red lipstick and green nail polish.
Moments with Mo TV host Mo Abudu looked simply fab in a purple dress with silver sequin details. Letting her hair down, she accessorized with silver bracelets, a silver ring and a silver clutch.
Glam Squad TV co-host Latasha Ngwube was also one to see at the event. Draped in a blue floor length dress with embellished cap sleeved shoulders, she styled her look with a diamond bracelet and a silver clutch. Shoulder-length bangs and red lipstick completed her look.
Event planner extraordinaire Ndidi Obiora arrived in a pink dress. Her dress which features an embellished bodice and chiffon skirt was styled with drop earrings, diamond bracelets and ring and a silver clutch.
Lagos style veteran Grace Egbagbe wore a blue one-shoulder dress with silver detailing. She completed her look by accessorizing with drop earrings, a diamond bracelet, a silver ring, an ivory clutch and green peep-toes.
The Hosts – Vimbai Mutinhiri & IK Osakioduwa
Nigerian media personality IK Osakioduwa and Zimbabwean TV star Vimbai Mutinhiri were the hosts of the awards ceremony.
After arriving on the red carpet with his wife in a single button navy blazer, cream pants and brown shoes, IK changed into a single button black tuxedo. He paired the suit with a white shirt, black bow tie and black shoes.
His co-host Vimbai Mutinhiri rocked three outfits. She told BellaNaija’s rep that she was styled by House of Nwocha and True Blossom from Zimbabwe. Her first outfit was a sequined long sleeve navy blouse and a high waist red skirt with a rise-and-fall hem. She accessorized with red drop earrings, red bracelets and red pumps.
For her second look, she wore a halter neck sea green dress which features a middle slit. She accessorized with silver hoop earrings, a diamond ring and gold heels.
Her third and final look was a long sleeve lace peplum top and mini skirt which features an alluring train. With her hair swept up, Vimbai Mutinhiri completed her look with chandelier earrings and gold shoes.
#WinningStyle
Veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs was honored with the Industry Merit Award for his long spanning career in the Nigerian movie industry. He wore a black suit to the awards show. His wife/iconic Nigerian actress Joke Silva was by his side. She wore a red chiffon gown.
Ghollywood actress Jackie Appiah won the best actress award for her role in Perfect Picture. Jackie arrived at the event in a red satin dress. She accessorized with bold cross-sign earrings, diamond bracelets and a pair of silver shoes.
Hafiz Oyetoro was awarded the best actor in a comedy for his role in House a Part. He wore a traditional outfit.
Rising African starlet Maureen Koech, who wore a playful Ankara dress, was awarded best supporting actress for her role in Ties that Bind.
Looking sharp in a Taryor Gabriels black suit, OC Ukeje was AMVCA’s Best Actor. He won for his role in Two Brides and a Baby.
Nollywood starlet Ivie Okujaiye won the Industry Trailblazer Award. The AMBO season 5 winner wore a silver dress which features an embellished neckline.
Ngendo Mukii‘s short film Yellow Fever won at the awards night. For her winning look, Ngendo chose a red Ankara dress.
Akin Omotoso posed with his Best Drama Movie Trophy for Man on Ground. He wore an all-black outfit.
Mercy Johnson won the best actress in a comedy for her role in Dumebi, the Dirty Girl. Although Mercy couldn’t make it to the awards ceremony, veteran actress Patience Ozokwor accepted the award in her honour.
Matthew Nabwiso won the best supporting actor award for his role in A Good Catholic Girl
Otelo Burning was the big winner of the night. The movie’s director Sara Blecher was all smiles as she posed for a photo-op in a grey knee length dress.
Ngozi Obasi took home the best costume designer award. She dressed Genevieve Nnaji and Osita Iheme in The Mirror Boy. For the awards ceremony, Ngozi wore a black dress.
Maami won the best local language film. The director of the indigenous production Tunde Kelani wore a proudly African outfit.
It was double celebration for Nollywood producer/director Obi Emelonye. After carting away the best director trophy for The Mirror Boy, he and his wife Amaka were awarded for their script writing for the same movie. Obi kept his look simple in a white suit and black shirt while Amaka dazzled in a flowy chiffon lemon-green dress.

Vivian Oputa wasn’t one to miss on the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards red carpet. The Nigerian aesthetic specialist wore a Peter Pilotto Fall/Winter 2012 dress. Shoulder length wavy locks, drop earrings, a gold necklace with a cross pendant, a black clutch and bi-coloured snakeskin strap heels completed her look.
Glam Report TV presenter Fade Ogunro was also at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. She wore a silk printed dress by Alter Ego. The dress from the Nigerian label was displayed at the 2012 MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Week.
Media personality Hauwa Mukan wore a multi-coloured dress by Ituen Basi. With her hair swept to the side, the Glam Squad presenter accessorized with diamond stud earrings, a silver bracelet, a green clutch and black sandals.
Tinsel actress Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi arrived at the awards show in a print dress by House of Marie. F.A.R accessorized with gold drop hoop-earrings, a gold bracelet and a gold clutch.
TW Magazine editor Kemi Ogunleye posed for the BN cameras in a satin printed dress which features black sequin details on the waist. She accessorized with silver drop earrings and a glittering silver clutch.

Red Carpet Returnees
One of Nollywood’s golden actresses Liz Benson hasn’t been seen at red carpet events for years now but the star made a huge comeback at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards with her husband Bishop Great Ameye. Liz Benson wore a light blue satin tube dress with a white lace bolero jacket, silver drop earrings, an ivory clutch and silver glittering shoes.
Nollywood’s former “Lover Boy” Saint Obi hasn’t featured in any recent movies and he was last publicly seen at the MTN Project Fame West Africa finale show in 2012. At the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, the actor was seen on the red carpet. He wore a grey suit, a white shirt, a white tie and white shoes.
Emeka Ossai and his wife, Jumai made their first major public appearance at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards after welcoming twins in September 2012. Emeka wore a black velvet blazer and pants, a print shirt and black shoes while his wife showed off her post baby body in pink.
Tricia Eseigbe-Kerry also made a red carpet comeback at the awards night. She wore a floor length dress which features a purple top and black skirt. It was styled with silver drop-ball-earrings, a purple bracelet, a silver clutch and black shoes.

Music star Banky W looked sharp in an all black ensemble. His single button suit with sequined shawl lapel, black waist coat, black shirt and black shoes, complimented his dark shades.

Best Supporting actor nominee Kalu Ikeagwu was also one of the best dressed men at the awards night. He paired the double button suit with a white shirt and a black bow tie.
Music act Lynxxx was also at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. He wore a white blazer and black pants by Mai Atafo Inspired, a black shirt, a black bow tie, black shoes and dark shades. His music producer friend Ikon wore an all black outfit.
Tinsel actor Gideon Okeke wore a grey blazer, a black shirt, a black tie, black pants and black shoes.

One of the Glam Report TV presenting trio Didi Ocheja was very much girly on the red carpet in a Lanvin for H&M Fall/Winter grey tulle dress with a sheer yoke. She accessorized the outfit accented with a chartreuse ribbon on her waist with a silver clutch and nude heels.
Fashion stylist/Fashion editor at Genevieve Magazine Ezinne Chinkata looked pretty in red. Her Deola Sagoe V neckline dress which features a lace bodice and flared flower skirt, was styled with blue earrings, a red clutch and blue ankle strap heels. Judging from how Ezinne smiled on the red carpet, she knows she really looks good.
TV presenter Ogechukwu Osih wore a bi-coloured peplum top and matching skirt to the event. She styled her dress with gold earrings, a black bracelet, a black clutch and black heels.

Journey to Self actress Katherine Obiang wore a red Ankara dress which features a see-through black skirt. She finished her look with pearl earrings and necklace and a black clutch.
Nollywood starlet Uzor Osimkpa wore a sequined gold corset and blue Ankara skirt with a middle slit by Nigerian design label, Byge.

Nigerian petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madueke chose an Ankara-print jacket and red skirt by Iconic Invanity. She styled her outfit with a red camisole, diamond drop earrings, diamond necklace, a blue clutch and black shoes.

Model Isio Wanogho took to the red carpet in a red sleeveless dress. She styled her outfit with diamond stud earrings, a coral-and-diamond bracelet and sleek hair.

Matching her eye shadow with the colour of her dress, she opted for pink lipstick.
Clinic Matters TV actress Lilian Esoro sparkled as she waltzed down the red carpet in a sequined number. Her dress features a silver bodice while the skirt with a side slit was green. Spice TV presenter Ariyike Akinbobola supported a young design label, Mood Deo at the awards ceremony. She arrived in a grey sequined dress which features a ruffled black shoulder detail and train. She accessorized with a black clutch and silver heels.

Creator and producer of Glam Report TV Bola Bolagun took to the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards red carpet in a purple satin dress by Tiffany Amber. Her floor length dress accentuated with a silver belt, was paired with gold studs, a pink ruffled clutch and a chic afro.
Tiwa Savage went for a more demure look at the awards night. She wore a blue round neck silk dress by Bridget Awosika. The Without My Heart songstress styled the floor length sleeve dress with diamond earrings, a blue clutch and her engagement ring. Her look was completed with sleek pulled-back hair and nude lipstick.
Nollywood actor/producer Moses Inwang showed his love for colours on Saturday evening. He wore a purple blazer, blue shirt, black trouser and laced sneakers.

Nigerian actress Halima Abubakar wore a pink floor length and faux fur by high street brand Topshop. She accessorized with gold bracelets and an embellished clutch. Halima debuted her bangs as well.
Tracy Nwapa wore a blush gown to the awards ceremony. She accessorized with diamond earrings, a silver necklace, a diamond bracelet, an ivory clutch and pink heels.
