‘She Came, She Saw, She Conquered’! Namibia’s Dillish is the Winner of Big Brother Africa – The Chase

Published

DILLISH

Oh my! What a finale!

“Big Brother Africa – The Chase” came to a close today, 25th August, 2013 after the final five housemates had spent 91 days in the house. The host, IK Osakioduwa showed off his stellar dance moves as he made quite an entrance in his ‘suit & tie’. The finale show saw performances from Ice Prince Zamani and a surprise comeback performance from ex-housemate, Sulu and was full of a lot of interesting twists and turns. You definitely shouldn’t have missed it.

The Nigerian housemates, Melvin and Beverly were the first to be booted out of ‘The Chase’ and Ghana’s Elikem took the third spot, leaving Zambia’s Cleo and Namibia’s Dillish to face off for the Grand Prize.

In the end,  the beautiful Dillish Matthews, the Namibian Housemate, took home the whopping prize of $300,000. But, she wasn’t the only winner of the night, Ghana’s Elikem took home the prize of the “Most Romantic Housemate” for his gesture, right ahead of Zimbabwe’s Hakeem.

Elikem’s Most Romantic Gesture prize package is as follows:

– a five-night, all expenses paid stay in a luxury room at the Sarova White Sands Hotel in Mombasa, Kenya with anyone he chooses to take.
– two return air tickets courtesy of Rwanda Air as well as spending money.
– The total prize package is USD 10 000.

Elikem, who had been Evicted from The Chase quickly said he would be sharing this prize with his lady love Pokello.

Congratulations!

Shey sme people were comparing bev to Karen? Yes, Karen was gangster but like it or not the girl was decent in the house and respected herself and so was Uti… Sad for Melvin though, but dill ish was a sweetheart and deserved the money as well. Please, mummy beverly talk to your pipkin na she has a lot of growing up to do, she just embarrassed herself and so many other celebrities by name dropping and putting their buisness out there…Kai!

This is unfair… After using our Melvin, now u tok ova his glory bt I must tell u dat u dnt deserve d money. U ‘re suppose to take d 4th position. I blve ur rich boyfriend must hv done sumtin behind.. AFRICA IS NT ALL ABT BEAUTY O..we shld learn to tell ourselves d truth. There’s no entertainment in Dillish, she’s nt real, if she’s talking abt her faithfulness, Melvin is also faithful. If she’s faithful, she would ‘ve stood alone nd stop attaching herself to Melvin. Faithful indeed. Abeg dis one na ways ooo.

    • say it lik e is

      August 26, 2013 at 12:13 am

I totally support you how faithful was she attaching yourself to Melvin knowing his country calls the shotrs even when you knew your friend Maria liked the guy pls faithfullness is not just about sex she was shaking her booty for the guys or throwing her boobs for the guys to admire a truly faithful girl friend wouldt be reffered to as most flirticious housmate though I must commend her for not having sex like other fools in the house and engaing in shameful acts like Beverly bottom lin is Dellish is a user and its common with girls who are used to getting their way cos of their looks theyv been told all their lives how beautiful they are and they use that to get their way.

Thank you!!! Dillish used Melvin and it was not even funny and that is why I never voted for her, WA took her to the finals and EA gave her the crown. Just look at this now. She used all the boys, which of them did not touch her boobs and ass other than Melvin. Yet Nigerians were trying to marry a wife on his behalf…

Ok first nigeria is the highest country in terms of viewership paying for vvip views voting and owning dstv even in slums n houses under third mainland ul see dstv hangings unlike even 10 africa countries joined together. Now my point is monkey dey work baboon dey chop why should west africa have only 3 slots while east africa has 4 and southern africa 7 don’t you see they want you Nigerians n west africans dat patronize them d most to keep spending your monies why they compensate other countries at your peril this alone is partial and is cheating you should take the same number of countries from each region that way its a bit fair you may say dstv is very popular in SA no that’s not trus bcs SABC is the main catch.so now delish has won they can justify their gimmicks by saying she won more country votes unequal voting platform of 7 4 3 1ffrom other african countries rather than a scale of 4 4 4 1. Anyway I also want to point out to you artificial Nigerians that were always voting for Dellish all bcs u were bewitched by her looks and thought she genuinely liked Melvin should learn from this she used us with her flirticious ways to ride to the top and when she wins her sugar daddy comes on stage can’t even say thank you to Africa but tells u all she’s no go area and all his their plan from day 1 I hope you all will learn and get the message always invest only where u sure its profitable.

You have vex, haaaaaaaaaa I feel your pain,i wish Melvin won too but it’s all good, he has made a name for himself, and yorubas will say good name is better than silver and gold, Watch out for him, he is soo going to make it, talk about youth ambassador material, endorsement from companies, if I own a company I for Don dey think of how to make him face of whatever I sell…

So what next for the Nigerian Beverly that decided to ridicule herself for $300k? Its true that nobody is perfect but a certain level of decency goes a long way. The truth is that behind closed doors people do worse. This is a lesson to others that you don’t have to put your pride in the trash to be recognized.

I don’t get just dnt understand y pipu wer obsessed wit dillish’s beauty to d point dt dey overlooked her laziness, flirty ways and deceptive story. She claimed she is very poor yet she almost didn’t wear same cloth twice in d house. Claimed she has to pay house rent but confirmed d last night dt she stays with stephen. N yet she doesn’t v money but she imports natural weave. Dese qualities are nt good for who we claim to be d face of Africa. Most times her answers are quiet stupid.

Some1 said Melvin was playing a game, for goodness sake they all were. He never lost his cool , that’s what I call focus, determination and maturity. This is all discrimination that was triggered off by the witchcraft couple Oneeza. It was so obvious in this game how much they didn’t want ‘West Africa- Nigeria’ to win, which is my only pain. Melvin deserved to win hands-down. The conspiracy, hatred and jealousy in this year’s season was just too overwhelming…why did we even bother at all. I pray we don’t go next year and we’ll see how far they’ll go

    August 26, 2013 at 8:32 am

@Say it lik it is. u actually took the words right out of my mouth. Nigeriasns are so artificial and just hate their own. Bev this that, decency my foot. Bev;s undoing is that she forgot to act for the cameras and didnt act slutery in a tasteful manner. Someone tell me how decent Dellish is, a 21yr old with all the expensive hair in the word and obviously using his bf ati sugar daddy. She is a user and a manipulative person cos she know she got what it takes. She has no love for Melvin, bet it Melvin wont even be remembered by Dellish after this show, cos trust me Stephen will kill to make sure it doesnt happe, this is serious buisness.
WHat is decent and coll abowt BBA when plenty pervets have all the housemates nude pics stored away in their phones all in the name of shower hour. Then again I wonder why this is a man’s world cos i didnt see SA crucifying Angelo. Or is it just a Nigerian thing, plasticity.
Natasha from Malawi cant speak english or dont even have a good diction, cant use l & r, yet Malawi suopported her and remember shes from the same country as Fatima, if this was 9ja housemates, Nigerians will call her a disgrace and all sorts of name. To think (ja was even supporting POkello even wen the issue of her sex tape leaked, calling her swag..If not that she declared war on WA, 9ja go still vote for her
Its unfortunate that una hate for Bev didnt even make ur Decent Melvin win, they all won the same uhuru tablet. Truth be told Melvin didnt bring his A game, he played too safe. And Bev might not be the best behaved person in Nigeria, but she can still achieve her potential in life if she adjusts her life style.
Everyone of them has learnt something from the show, Melvin also has to learn to mopve on and stop attending show, build on the image and personality he has. Omawumin never won Idols WA, but she is a household name. Tonto never won the next movie start but shes a household name.
Cheers to all of them, BBA is not for the faint hearted

You have spoken so well. Nigerians are so good at castigating others. “Country without sin”. Beverly was herself. Melvin was so boring. I wish them all the best andnif Nigerians cant accept Bev, stay in S.A dear. They love you. They’ve already accepted you as their Makoti. Hehe

How can Melvin win, when u have 3 west africans in the house. they didnt play the game well, when they were busy saving themselves, they forget they will have to share country votes at the finals. i knew we lost it when i saw 2 Nigerians and a Ghanian in the finals.that result was real, Better luck next time and stop grumbling Nigerians!

  44. Neimzzy

    August 26, 2013 at 12:10 pm

My dear Africans, BBA is not about entertainment anymore, if it was, the likes of Bassey and Sulu would not have been chased out. These were the real entertainers in the house.

  45. Amara

    August 26, 2013 at 12:16 pm

Biggie manipulated every thing. Truely, this is not african’s votes. Most people knew that melvin derserves it, even the housemates confirmed that. if you follow people’s comment on BBA Facebook, majority were on melvin’s side. If Biggie does not want nigeria to win since they have won majority it of the time and as well wants to win the hearts of other african countries to participate in BBA and patronise dstv, they sould have allowed melvin to be among the last standing two i.e dillish and melvin. how would beverly go, followed by melvin and elkiem, evicting the west africans at a stretch, it shows that biggie was bias. i believe that biggie was bought over by dillish pitiable stories and beauty, and wanted to make other african countries feel beta, because even in the house, you see much hatred for west africans among the housemates. did any west african win uhuru tablet, if it is not dstv walka it is dstv prv, na them sebi what they call that other one.

  46. WOW

    August 26, 2013 at 12:40 pm

Glossy, Thanks dear! you couldn’t have said it any better. All of you bringing sentiments into this aren’t reasoning. If Elikem was booted out, Melvin would have gotten Ghana and SL votes. Which, might have put him in second place. Asides, from that, I cant complain. Yes, Melvin was a sweet guy but let’s be honest so was Dillish. they both deserved the money and either of them taking it isn’t a bad thing. Life continues! I am Nigerian and love dillish, this is a girl who never knew her Father, put her siblings to school, was forced at a young age to be a bread winner, worked as a judge and as a ring girl just to earn money before Stephen, in her words “I want to earn my money not be given” Her siblings have never lived in the same house even during Christmas! All she wanted if she won the money was a 16 inch LG tv. and you say she didn’t deserve the money? C’mon, even after 5 saves by africa. Y’all should have known that Elikem, Cleo were better contenders to Melvin and that girl Bev. Call a spade a spade! Plus, Biggie needs to do something about his prizes I feel the runner up deserves something as well. Not Uhuru tablet!

truth be told, I love Dillish but she didnt really deserve the win because there were stronger contenders chasing with her like melvin and elikem. But i blame the housemates because they forgot it was a competition n were after booting out their enemies instead of their competition eg when bev was hoh, instead of putting up elikem (west africa) she was rather after dillish cos she wasnt close to her. I mean if elikem was out she or melvin would have gotten more west african votes. The bottom line is the housemates were not using their heads, they were overwhelmed by sentiments. I think this should serve as a lesson to them. 3 West africans in the finals of 5, ofcourse the final poll result should have been very much expected.

Whether Dilish used Melvin to win or not, it all boils down to the veracious fact that BBA is a game, and whatever strategy you choose to use is determinant on you as long as it takes you to the Crown. Congrats to Dilish because she played the game well and won. I feel so bad that Melvin didn’t win because if there was anybody who deserved the prize along side Dilish, it’s Melvin. now these are the outright reasons Melvin didn’t win. First he is Nigerian, a guy, and with Beverly and Elikem at the finals, votes were divided, which on the other hand could still have made him win but not for Africans voting sentimentally because he was a Tuesday leader, kind, decent, caring, loving and putting the needs of the house mates before his. but because Nigeria had won it thrice, no matter how good he was with a marvellous character, BBA didn’t want to create the impression that the show is big brother Nigeria, so Melvin was a collateral damage for that. secondly, if you look at the statistics, you will discover that Namibia had never won, just like Keegan last year was the first South African to win. Cleo couldn’t win because Zambia had won it, and since Namibia had come this far, plus Dilish’s character adding too, she stood an outrageously better chance to Cleo. Elikem however was affected due to the fact that he was West African and there was no way he would get Nigeria’s vote because we had two candidates to share it with. He was envied by Tanzania because they hold him responsible for Nando’s disqualification plus the Feza/Oneal fracas and he lost Botswana’s vote too. If no Nigerian were at the finals, Elikem would win since I was the first time of Ghana getting that far, believe me people that if Ghana can make it to the finals next year, nd the person is a boy, he would win. Now there is politics involved in this as well as some economical implications/marketing strategy employed by DSTV. imagine Nigeria winning BBA again, it would discourage the participation of other African countries because they will have this stereotypic misconception that only Nigeria wins. to encourage others countries to part as well as alleviate some poverty in their region, BBA has to go round. If Big Brother had their way, Karen wouldn’t have won but because it was conspicuously obvious that her not winning would be clearly partial, for the first time they created a second winner so as to compensate Zimbabwe for Munya’s failure to win, otherwise how would Wendall win when it was obvious he was the most boring and luclay was more entertaining than him. You see there are files, laws, conditions, factors, determinants that decides who wins the crown because critical analysis are taken into consideration and that determines who wins. There is no doubt that Nigeria has got more population and DSTV enjoys more patronage and sponsorship from nigeria including Airtel the official sponsors of BBA, it was all a strategy to market the show and get Nigeria’s support that was why Melvin and Beverly were never evicted till the finals else if Melvin had left before then, the rage being expressed by Nigerians now would affect the number of people who would watch the finals. that was the last DaY and they knew nothing would affect anything now even if Melvin gets touched. My only worry is that there was no way Melvin deserved to finish 4th because he was a better character of all standing, but you see, if he was in the last 2 standing, it would have jeopardised Namibia chances and caused a whole lot of outrage in Nigeria because we would have said we were robbed and it would have been gruesome, but him finishing 4yh creates the illusion that he wasn’t good enough for the top 3, and for those saying Melvin was boring and not entertaining, Dilish’s victory is enough fact to prove that entertainment wasn’t the prerequisite this year else sulu and bassey should never have been evicted, this year, it was gentleness, sympathy, beauty, and faithfulness that decided that or was Beverly not entertaining enough but yet was the first of the finalist to be ousted?

Whether Dilish used Melvin to win or not , it all boils down to the veracious fact that BBA is a game, and whatever strategy you choose to use is determinant by you as long as it takes you to the Crown . Congrats to Dilish because she played the game well and won. I feel so bad that Melvin didn’t win because if there was anybody who deserved the prize along side Dilish , it ’s Melvin . Now these are the outright reasons Melvin didn’t win . First he is Nigerian, a guy , and with Beverly and Elikem at the finals , votes were divided, which on the other hand could still have made him win but not for Africans voting sentimentally because he was a true leader, kind, decent, caring , loving and putting the needs of the house mates before his. But because Nigeria had won it thrice , no matter how good he was with a marvellous character, BBA didn’t want to create the impression that the show is big brother Nigeria, so Melvin was the collateral damage. secondly, if you look at the statistics , you will discover that Namibia had never won , just like Keagan last year was the first South African to win. Cleo couldn’t win because Zambia had won it , and since Namibia had come this far, plus Dilish ’s character adding too , she stood an outrageously better chance to Cleo . Elikem however was affected due to the fact that he was West African and there was no way he would get Nigeria ’s vote because we had two candidates to share it with . He was envied by Tanzania because they hold him responsible for Nando ’s disqualification plus the Feza / Oneal fracas and he lost Botswana’s vote too . If no Nigerian were at the finals , Elikem would win since it was the first time of Ghana getting that far , believe me people that if Ghana can make it to the finals next year , and the person is a boy , he would win. Now there is politics involved in this as well as some economical implications / marketing strategy employed by DSTV . imagine Nigeria winning BBA again , it would discourage the participation of other African countries because they will have this stereotypic misconception that only Nigeria wins . to encourage other countries to participate as well as alleviate some poverty in their region , BBA championship has to go round . If Big Brother had their way , Karen wouldn ’t have won but because it was conspicuously obvious that her not winning would be clearly partial, for the first time they created a second winner so as to compensate Zimbabwe for Munya ’s failure to win, otherwise how would Wendall win when it was obvious he was the most boring and luclay was more entertaining than him . You see there are rules, laws , conditions , factors, determinants that decides who wins the crown because critical analysis are taken into consideration and that determines who wins . Hey friend ur comments are on point like I said in my earlier comments(pls read )BBA a show from south African owned Dstv is programmed to receive from the likes of Nigeria and compensate Nigeria sometimes and others as the case maybe.I mentioned that the slots given per region were not equal and that’s enough proof eA 4 sa 7 wa 3 othr african countries 1 equals 15 votes so u see d cheating mechanism which affects d highest patronizing region wa.Anyway my reason for writting again is for us to join our voices together and call that this cheating ends it should be equal slots or nigeria n d whole wa willl pull out.some people think we just talking too much about this thing bt u dnt knw how painful it is dat u paying 5k boquet n above n u being robbed to compensate countries that out of 10 houses only 2 have dstv most of them don’t hv acess to internet so they don’t vote as well for example. Feza cldnt tweet becos of ntwrk coverage when she went back home. Also I’ll like us to attack Denrele and cohorts that hand pick reps for our country Melvin was a good choice interms of character n looks but maybe its time we send d no nonsense kind of nigerian man and also d females africa wants eye candy lively but decent girls so let’s send such.Nigeria has been accused of sending ugly girls as they say but we know that in this naija girls dey wey even that Dillish go bow.what I’m saying is that we shld voice out our opinion on d regional slots n we shld send new kind of reps n let’s see which mumu excuse they will give us this time

Una wey say she use melvin, melvin na tata? Did she bewitch him?,didn’t he know what he went there to do?biko let’s call a spade a spade. The chic had ovewhelming support from her region, her facebook profile had probably 20 times more likes than anyother contestant while she was still in the house, melvin was popular but wasn’t able to garner support from other countries aside Nigeria. If na Naija win now, shebi everybody for rest.mtcheww,we don dey win since, let the money go round biko.Nigeria is probably the only african country that likes to isolate itself form the rest of Africa or superimpose itself on other african countries. I’m happy for dillish biko, melvin is a strong man,he’ll still make it anyway. One love, one blood ,one Africa.

Guys mature up. BBA is not about entertainment or beauty. It is about the person who represents the values of a true african man or Woman. Delish presented such values to Africa and Africa crowned her the winner. For some of you who still have beef, sorry but the truth is Delish represented herself and Africa well. Congs Delish, you deserved it gal.

I just cant understand why we Africans are fighting over a prize that was just won. I mean why do we lay claims that who deserves what and who does not?? I know it might be painful but stil an African women won the chase and its not her fault she won it. Stop calling each other names because we live on one rock, we share a common history, we share the same rivers and oceans, we have the same colour..For aslong as the prize is in Africa , then we all just should be proud. I know its painful for Nigerians that melvin did not win I think both Melvin and Dilish would not mind who won between them because I can sense they realy do care for each other..One of the reasons why there is war all over Africa is because we are not happy to see our own brothers and sisters win…u can be Nigerian , u can be Namibian, South African..Kenyan or any other , but for aslong as u breath aunder the African sun, for aslong as ur parents died for this soil for aslong as our great great parents bodies have decomposed this continent I call you my brother and my sister ,,so please lets not fight because of a US 300 000 , we are all more worth than that.

This Big Brother was the worst, and for the 1st time we actually have ourself to blame for Sunday’s outcome.
    1. We had very strong characters this year. Denzel, Annabel, Sulu, Bassey, Elikem, Pokello, Natasha, Oneal, Nando (and even Melvin). Truth be told, I think Africa took to heart, their bad qualities over their entertaining qualities. It’s for this reason why the entertainers left 1st. In no way can anyone defend Dillish’s win in Big Brother (try remember one thing about her this whole season?!)
I have said this before though – we will never have the same winner twice, at least in the short run. Think about it carefully, we have never witnessed a 2nd Cherise, Richarcd, Kevin, Karen winning big brother. Each year, the winner will be won by a different character. This year, was the year for the “good, moral, calm” housemate. Bimp, Dillish, Melvin all made it to the top 7. I doubt that in previous years we would have had so many “good” characters so late in the game. We have seen Dillish type characters in past seasons (Geraldine, Lucille, Bruna, however they never won).
For all we know, next year, we might witness our first strategic, analytical, intelligent winner. We have had them before (Tapuwa, Itai, Fatima, Jacob), yet those type of characters have never won big brother.

As for the Nigerian reps – I think for the first time, your reps weren’t actually liked by the ROA.
You have received plenty of support from Africa, in previous years, so it’s not fair to throw stones. Your reps were terrible this year. Melvin was boring, and Bev had no character. Dillish’s win I think was also brought on by the fact that you kept on voting for her during the elimination rounds. I would have liked to see Feza in the final, just to see how the votes would have panned out, but no one else saw the bigger picture. Dillish and Melvin had the exact same personality. How are you going to convince the rest of Africa to vote Melvin, when there is someone just like him in the finals as well?!!!!
Nigeria always has exciting reps – we wait for next year.

Personally I can’t wait for BB South Africa, I think a country like SA is the best place for a reality show of this scope, purely because we don’t attach ourselves to sentimental things. Entertainment=entertainment=entertainment. It’s for this reason why Richard and Ferdinand have won BB (very different characters, yet loved by SA). Also it works, because the country is so different.

    See ya’ll next year.

Oh Dillish what a clever girl. Most of the Nigerians voted for her beauty forgetting Melvin. The problem is that she did not love Melvin but only used him for the votes. I am a South African and wanted Melvin to win for his down to earth personality. What a cute handsome boy!!

Nigerians, you talk too much. Where was the power of nija now? You have been opening your wide mouths that nija decides who wins BBA, jet you could not make the real nija winner, Melvin win. Melvin was the best of all Nigerians who had won BB so far. Stupid monkeys.
