“Growing Women-Owned Businesses”: WEConnect International Launches in Nigeria – Saturday 25th January 2014

On Saturday 25th January 2013, WEConnect International will formally launch in Nigeria. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., WEConnect International is a global nonprofit that facilitates sustainable economic growth by increasing opportunities for women-owned businesses to succeed in global value chains. WEConnect exists to help women in enterprise connect with key procurement contacts in multinational companies.

Through various panel discussions and Keynote addresses by an outstanding line-up of distinguished speakers, the Launch event is designed to help women business owners build valuable contacts and relationships that can lead to new businesses.

High profile speakers at the Launch include:

• Elizabeth Vazquez (CEO and Co-Founder, WEConnect International, Washington DC)
• Comfort Sakoma (Executive Director, WEConnect International, Nigeria)
• Mme Marie-Francoise Marie-Nelly (Head, World Bank, Nigeria)
• Stephanie Okereke- Linus (Nigerian Actress, Film Director and Model)

The event will also feature two panel discussions. The first panel discussion, titled; “Is corporate Nigeria buying from women entrepreneurs? Does this matter?” will be moderated by Elizabeth Vazequez (CEO and Co-Founder, WEConnect International, Washington DC) and discussed by The Nigerian Bottling Company. The second panel discussion of the day, titled; “Are businesswomen good business? Who is banking on them?” will be moderated by Juliana Oyegun (Ex- World Bank & Managing Partner, Amazing Grace Inspirations); speakers include representatives from Access Bank, Fidelity Bank and the International Finance Corporation .
