Exclusive: President Jonathan’s Daughter Faith Sakwe & Godswill Edward Wed!

Faith Sakwe - Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan's Daughter - Banke Meshida Lawal of BM Pro - April 2014 Wedding in Abuja - BellaNaija - 01

Congratulations Faith and Godswill!

Faith is the first child of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan. She married Godswill Osim Edward today in the capital at Abuja Ecumenical Center. The ceremony was broadcast live on NTA, where many state governors and other dignitaries were in attendance.

The beautiful couple met at University of Calabar as students and have been together ever since. In March, we brought you an exclusive look at their pre-wedding shoot – click here for the beautiful photos.

The bride’s makeup was by sought after MUA Banke Meshida-Lawal of BM|PRO, while she wore a breathtaking crystal encrusted dress with a cathedral train.

We wish the couple a beautiful married life ahead.

      April 12, 2014 at 5:34 pm

That is so stupid, why was it necessary to point that out!! That was ignorant, she is THEIR DAUGHTER!!!!!, the fact that she is adopted does not mean anything. YOU are such a sad, pathetic, backward and small minded individual for that singular comment you made.

      April 13, 2014 at 11:52 am

Haha, kilode? What did we carry, Biko wetin you throw? Why are you taking penicillin for someone elses infection?
She was only answering a question o, why take it so personal? She wasn’t derogatory in any way.

Though she’s Jonathan’s adopted daughter, she is Patience’s biological daughter. So she’s not entirely adopted.

people and stupidity, its amazing…….she is adopted and so freaking what? must that be sung at every opportunity? yet you all want orphaned kids to be adopted, yet u all want baby factories to be wiped out but you don’t let go of peoples past…how do u expect women who are childless to adopt when u keep singing their past at every opportunity?….when a couple adopts a child then its their child and all privileges given to that child..

congrats on your wedding jo dear bride and groom…don’t mind all these wet blankets raining on your parade…..amebos who will never face forward…

A million of u would want to be Jonathan’s maid, cheff, gardener, cleaner n billions would wish him to be their uncle and thousands are ready to deny their parents to become an adopted child if given the opportunity. Why are you loathing? So what if she’s adopted? Does it change the fact that She’s Goodluck’s daughter? Does it make her less of a human? The plague is really in the head!

HML jor, keep shinning and pls do shakara, it’s not easy to be a president’s daughter whether by adoption or by birth!

    • Ona

      April 13, 2014 at 7:43 pm

You lots venting about this adopted daughter ish need to calm all the way down biko! The people who mentioned that she’s an adopted daughter above said so in response to a comment someone made saying that she thought that people said Jonathan had no children. How is it a crime that people clarified and told her that the girl was an adopted daughter? Jonathan was never really clear with how much children he has. We have only been seeing pics of him and patience with the 3 adopted kids but never with his 3 biological children….which i think is hella strange. U can’t blame people for being confused.

BN , there is always a classy touch about the ways you report events. No trash,no judgemental comments, just professional touch. Keep it up babes, you are the best.
Every ‘big man’ in Nigeria does this for their children(out of this world wedding),from pastors to imams to business men,the fact that President J and his wife honoured their daughter is nothing new.Any proud parent would do the same.HML to the couple

No one knew she was adopted, the president’s family announced it on the advert themselves. Besides the bride’s civil servant mother is alive and lives in Bayelsa with her other kids and current husband,so stop charging like she was a helpless orphan adopted from an orphanage.

Her wedding dress is GORGEOUS and very different. She is beautiful and simple. Our president is shining. I feel lucky to have this man as president. Less than two decades ago, very much within my lifetime, a president’s daughter’s wedding could NEVER have been this accessible and tasteful. It was all about showing off the money they had stolen from our national coffers. Goodluck and family, may God continue to bless you abundantly.

Why are people so touchy about adoption?

It is a beautiful thing!!! It doesn’t make her unfortunate or anything. It is this sort of ‘don’t-mention-she-is-adopted’ that is stigmatising the whole issue. There is nothing shameful about adoption and declaring it so. We Nigerians are just dubious at heart, you will adopt another person’s child and pass them off as your own. It takes a greater strength of character for the world to know that this child is not yours and yet you train and love them as your very own.

  43. Fatimah

    April 13, 2014 at 8:49 pm

Congrats to the couple btw 🙂 lmao @ Mrs Chidukane’s comment.

  44. Adoptive mom

    April 13, 2014 at 9:32 pm

    Adoption 101:
Once adopted, the child is theirs even though they did not have the baby biologically.
Adoptive parents are the child’s parents while the parents that gave birth to the child are called birth parents or biological parents. Is is offensive to use the term real parents to describe the birth parents – the child only knows the adoptive parents as the real parents.

Fatimah your comments “this child is not yours” is offensive. Instead you should say this child is not your biological child. Do people describe others by the circumstances of their birth? IVF child, Donor sperm child, Rape child, surrogate child. Why is adoption different. It is a fact it happened and that should be the end of the story not all this constant comments.

Pretty bride!!!! Why people dey cry for the mention of adopted daughter. The reason is making headline or quite shocking is bcos as a whole president of a country, nobody knows important general information about Jonathan good luck. How many children does he have? How many biological children does he have? Is patience is only wife? It’s absurd. I was quite confused when I read his daughter is getting married. So, it makes sense why there’s emphasis on her being adopted. Obviously, she’s part of their family but Jonathan Goodluck life is way too secretive as a president but Nigerians seem to overlook it. I’m not sure why he’s getting away with so much, and very important things.

All of your should pipe down with the adoption shouting. BN mentioned in their first post about her that she was adopted. Didn’t hear anybody screaming their head off there. So if people need clarification, what’s the big deal? She’s their daughter, adopted, still every inch their daughter.
