The movie adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie‘s best selling novel “Half of a Yellow Sun” after a long wait, premiered today (right now) Saturday 12th April 2014 at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos.

As expected, it is a star studded affair.

The movie’s director Biyi Bandele as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor (Odenigbo), Genevieve Nnaji (Ms. Adebayo), OC Ukeje (Aniekwena), Reginald Ofodile (Aniekwena) and Gloria Young (Aunty Ifeka) are live at the event.

The great minds that help make the movie a reality are also present.

    OMG! is chimamanda serious with that outfit? this styling for a movie based on her book? and in her home country.. i almost LOL’ed… chiwetel looks the best!.. genny is looking alright but i would have preferred a better hair that will show her face. where is the lead actress? Anyway goodluck to the movie, would love to watch it.

    I saw the movie yesterday in London.. Ah this movie is so touching and it might cause wahala in naija.. when people see the massacre of Igbo’s on film…

      Lol why would it? Do blacks and whites in the western world go on rampage cos of all the slavery movies produced? Please its alright to tell and discuss history. It is left for the consumers to interpret hw they want. If you dnt like, dont watch

      Yes, then he can teach her about the civil war and independence since she said she was too young to know about it. Chiwetel (over whom some people want to catch hypertension because he said he was British) apparently knows his Nigerian history more than she does.

I did not say we have no right to discuss history and if u read my comment properly and understood the context, the wahala I meant was seeing the visual reality of your family’s pain and experience and having to deal with the repressed emotions from that time no going on a rampage and causing violence…

    Long awaited Premiere in Nigeria and Chinwetel back to his roots(well at least his country). The author Chimamanda looking gorgeous in that gown. I wonder who made it. Nigerian I hope……it looks good! #proud
