U.S. to Assist Nigeria in Fight Against Terrorism

John Kerry to Support Nigeria Bella Naija

First the U.K pledged to support the Nigerian government in its efforts to find the over 200 abducted Borno school girls (if you missed this story click here), and now, the U.S is offering assistance to fight terrorism in Nigeria.

U.S Secretary of State, John Kerry, made this announcement Friday in Addis Ababa during his 3-day visit to some African countries including Ethiopia, Vanguard reports.

Kerry also stated that the incessant attacks on the civilian population, especially women and children in parts of Nigeria was disturbing. He revealed that the U.S. has concluded plans to help salvage the situation.

Please ooh.. I am not a Nigeria but please do not allow USA to come “help”. They will come and worst-en the situation and try to steal your oil. Someone said in one of the other posts that they prefer Russia and I totally agree..

is not just about oil is about a whole lot more, the US don’t care about anybody all they care about is implementing their new world order

      May 2, 2014 at 5:43 pm

Let them steal the oil as long as no more innocent lives are lost and the Chibok girls are returned home safely. Whatever they plan to ‘steal’ can never be as much as what some of our leaders have stolen.

Stop with the myopic thinking. Any country willing to come in and salvage the situation in this country should be welcomed with open arms. Nigeria needs all the help it can get when it comes to Boko Haram and any terrorist group.

True only if they have good intentions. It is known that US does not intervene in country’s affair that doesn’t have natural resources. . Thats why I mentioned the oil. I assume we all know what happens in countries they go to “help” with regards to terrorism Afghanistan is a perfect example. So let’s not make this about me and my child.. its my opinion and I shared it

Abeg I am in total support of this. Let them come and help since our idiotic government do not know how to fight this book haram people. Boko Haram are getting stronger, they have more support than ever from unknown forces, they are pushing their boundaries and the Nigerian government is helpless. Jonathan is Clueless. If the international Committee don’t come and help only God knows what Nigeria will turn into. If by helping us means they will take the oil, then let them take it after all the useless government have been controlling the oil and keep revenues, storing money in foreign banks, sending their children abroad, buying private jets and building mansions in foreign countries while the rest of us rely on God for daily bread. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!

So it might actually be the whole conspiracy theory thing. I see no reason why they have to step in to help us if we believe that our politicians have a hand in this. In every war, there are losers and there are gainers. It is possible that people who hope to gain from disagreements can cause them. Neocolonialism. I’m just thinking.

I don’t know that I like this…I think this may now make Nigeria an international target and we’ll have more than Boko Haram to contend with. It would have been slightly better if it had been the UK

U.S and U.K intervention in Nigeria will be the downfall of Nigeria. They will come in and wosern the situation by looking for problem where there is no problem, they will create trouble where there is no trouble they will do this do this until nothing is left for Nigeria America only care about America. U.K only care about U.K, no help from them will bring good to Nigeria and her children.

This situation is farcical and the incompetence of the 9ja government beyond disgraceful. They should let others sort out what they clearly aren’t able to do. Last I heard they were negotiating with terrorists.

Now we learn we still don’t have an exact number of the girls missing, neither do they have names of the missing girls. WHY?

We read some managed to escape, surely we should have learnt by now about their ordeal in the hands of BK or of some indication of their intention towards the girls. Assisted in leading forces back to their captors perhaps.

There have been a few reports of parents approaching the camp even with military escorts but were prevented by military from approaching any further??? What dafaq. These girls aren’t missing in the sense they don’t know where they are, we know where they are but it appears we are kindly waiting for BK to be softened by the celeb appeals and return the girls out of the goodness of their hearts? These same celebs whose western lifestyles BK are vehemently against? Arrant Nonsense.

Yes the US public appeals have put pressure on our govt, but BK are revelling in the notoriety this is generating them & have just fish slapped all by detonating another bomb within the same vicinity.

Since WHEN was the protection of a country’s oil more important than the lives of 200+ children?

The silly people worrying about oil should kindly shut up, or go and give your womenfolk in exchange of those children, so that you can wait for GEJ to sort things out while protecting your oil.

    OIL? OIL? *tears hair out*

It’s not even about the oil. It’s about the whole nation. Who do you think started the whole protest going on in the Ukraine? Why do you think Russia retaliated as it did? Russia didn’t waste any time because they know what the US is after. If Russia falls, the US has broken the gate to the Middle East. We all know how rigorous the war in the Middle East has been. And how it has spread all over. Who do you instigated the Arab Spring? Since the Spring happened what has been occurring in the whole region? Instability. If US troops land here, Nigeria will NEVER belong to Nigeria again. They will build a base here and will never leave in the name of securing the region. Once they’re in Nigeria, the whole of Africa belongs to them. We’re the gate they’re looking for. Once we fall into their hands do not expect any advancement. At that point we’re back to colonialism again. Yes we want the girls back, their lives are valuable, but we also want to keep our nation ours. We do not want to become slaves again.

our soldiers and police men are weakly. where are they? and what are they being paid for. when the going gets tough, the` toughs keep going. why are they hiding or are they joining the bokos hence they have been seized from ruling. this is just a little challenge what about when another nation wage war against us. yet they will go about slapping and arresting common civilians. a stranger from US, UK or RUSSIA will be in front while the owner of the house will be at the back when catching a thief in his house. shame unto nigerian military
