Nigeria’s former Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah has been honoured with a Chieftaincy title in her community, Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra state.

She was given the title last Saturday for her “outstanding service to Nigeria,” according to Daily Post.

“She is a visionary. She is a woman who single handedly worked and changed the 22 domestic airports in Nigeria,” Senator Ben Obi reportedly stated.

Obi Ogenne, Igwe of Amiyi, sent Oduah a congratulatory message via ThisDay Style:

Oduah was embroiled in controversy late last year when it was alleged that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority purchased two bulletproof cars worth $ 1.6 Million – N 256,264,417 (256 Million Naira) for her.

    Good for her. I actually like this woman. As aviation minister, she seemed like the type to roll up her sleeves and get the work done, not minding if her nails became blistered in the process. I remember when we had that flooding disaster in 2012 and she visited her village, rowing a canoe herself, wearing practical clothes unlike her assistant who was tottering in heels and tight skirt. Comparing the airports from before her tenure to date, I would say she had a lot of good ideas and did get work done. Its unfortunate that she got into that messy business with the bullet proof BMWs. I hear, conflicts between her and she who will not be mentioned ultimately led to her removal and not really the scandal created by the BMWs.

    It’s rather unfortunate. Atiku has several chieftaincy titles from different towns. Tinubu is the Asewaju. We keep celebrating these people who’ve done little or nothing worth celebrating and they keep getting bolder with their thievery.

      Well, this particular one did something! I’m not a fan of Chieftaincy titles but she deserves all the accolades she gets from her people. If past Aviation ministers did one tenth of what she did, our airports would be world class.

      Ok, let us go there;
      State in concrete terms what exactly this woman did in her tenure.
      Considering the fact that I was sweating like a ram at the check-in queue of MMIA weeks ago and the restrooms in PH airport are already broken barely few months after it was commissioned. By the way,that is just the barely finished departure hall we are talking about o! After 3 years of work,the arrival remains completely abandoned. These are the two airports I use often (as MM2 is a private thing) and on account of these two,she is an utter failure and worthy of shame.
      All I have always said is this; If you think this woman is worthy of any form of celebration, may your personal projects be handled the same way she handled aviation industry projects.
