According to a group of religious leaders in Liberia, the deadly Ebola virus was unleashed by God as a plague upon the nation to punish “immoral acts” such as homosexuality taking place there.

The Daily Observer reports that various church leaders from the Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) reportedly attended a meeting on Wednesday to discuss a spiritual response to the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa.

“God is angry with Liberia”, said a leader at the meeting. And that is why Ebola was sent “as a plague” he added.

 A statement detailing the resolution, read;

“Liberians have to pray and seek God’s forgiveness over the corruption and immoral acts (such as homosexualism etc) that continue to penetrate the society.

As Christians, we must repent and seek God’s forgiveness. “

The LCC also recommended Liberians stay indoors for a three-day period for fasting and prayer.
