Kcee: I’m a Fashion Icon & I Can Brag About It

Kcee - August 2014 - BN Music - About His Style - 01
In the celebsphere, a lot of gents shy away from colours like pink, purple and orange, but Nigerian music star Kcee is always ready to take up a new challenge in the style department in such bold colours.

Recently, he posted a photo posing next to a white door in a pink-and-black print shirt, pink pants, a black blazer and leopard print shoes, and unlike “Limpopo“, it wasn’t a hit with his fans.

A good number of his followers felt the look was too metrosexual.

They aired their views in the most brutal way ever, slamming it from head to toe.

A reporter at The Net NG got in touch with him to speak on the backlash and Kcee gave his two cents.

“As far as I’m concerned those that are talking about my dress sense don’t even know what fashion is all about, they just want to talk, and as a celebrity, people just want to pick on you and say whatever they like.

For those that know me very well, if there’s anything that I can boast of, it’s fashion, I don’t joke with it. Most of these talks actually started from pictures I posted on Instagram, and really I got the buzz I needed at that time, so I even went on to post more pictures so people would talk more, and guess what, my followers have increased drastically with all these fashion talks.

I don’t even respond to them, I don’t take it serious, I’m happy and making more money, so I’m not loosing anything. If you come to my wardrobe you’ll know what I’m saying, I’m a fashion icon and I can brag about it.

Sometimes there are some things you can’t brag about, but for me I can brag about fashion, I don’t have a problem with my fashion sense.

I don’t have a stylist, I style myself. These same set of people that talk negatively about a certain outfit would commend me on another one, so I just see them as confused people. The truth is I don’t get angry at them, rather I get inspired”

We as a people should refrain from using the word ICON loosely. Mr KC you continuous experiment with ill fitting pants, throwing darts on color wheel, does not equal ICON status. Sir, your belt is the Jordan Logo, that crime alone should disqualify you from using the words fashion and icon together ever again.

Hahaha. Very well said. That belt had me in stitches.

    August 27, 2014 at 8:12 pm

kcee, please stop getting delusional. You have never been a fashion icon & won’t be until you get some facts right.
There is a whole lot of difference between fashion & style.
Style is original and timeless, whilst fashion is pedestrian & fleeting.
I don’t care if you’ve got a walk-in closet full of designer labels, but I can bet you a regular Joe that’s thrift-savvy , with a 200k budget and a good sense of style , will take you to the cleaners.
Guy, you don’t inspire anyone, but some otimpo at ASPAMDA !

When you say your a “Fashion Icon” and dress like a skittles icon, people are obligated to comment. Maybe you have to google the definition of an “Icon” and see if this joke meets any if the criteria, from his hair to his shoes, dude look like a joke.

    August 28, 2014 at 3:28 am

Lmao he definitely has to be trolling, there’s no way he believes he’s a fashion icon. Fashion Icon rocking “Jordan” belt pahahahaha

  38. cos I say so

    August 28, 2014 at 4:30 am

I like the look expect he should have lost the tie, left his first two buttons open and worn plain black shoes! That would hav totally worked! The tie and shoes are too serious for all of this color,he should have aimed for smart casual instead!
Kc I totally admire your work&yes I agree u do turn up looking gorg on most red carpets but I think this here is an overkill!
And as usual I see the Zombie mentality of Bella “commenters”,one person voices his opinions real wittily and others just follow suit,im sure most of you didn’t even look at the picture.
And…No,before u go there I don’t know KC,never even met the man, just voicing an opinion that’s all mine

  57. geezee

I think his response show a total lack of maturity. Sounding cocky and insulting the fans is no way to go. He’d have simply said that as a celeb sometimes you come out loud to catch attention. This talk about being a fashion icon and everybody else being confused just about comes out as appropriate as his dress sense
