Fayemi and FayoseNewly elected Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, has criticized his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, for spending N3.3 billion on the Governor’s lodge.

According to Vanguard, Fayose made the following remarks while administering oath of office for his new Special Assistants:

“My heart nearly failed me when I got to the new governor’s lodge last Thursday. The mansion cost N3.3 billion. It was initially awarded for N2.3 billion and later increased to N2.7 billion, while a sum of N640 million was used to procure fittings and furniture.

“And this building will require N150 million to maintain annually. Ekiti cannot sustain this and we have to do something about it.

How could a governor be living in such a house when the masses are living in abject poverty?”

If you ask me, Fayose should stop tongue lashing Fayemi in the media, he should rather face getting his own government to do the right thing which fayemi failed to do. there is no need for all these name calling and criticism. The deed is done, get it right sir, cos you owe Ekiti people good governance.

Remind Fayose of his poultry project where he had to import chickens to fill. I do not support extravagance especially where public funds are involved. Its early days yet. I hope he is not gathering excuses for eventual non-performance.

I think this guy should get his act together. If you think you can do a better job then get started. With all this bad mouthing going on, no one is making mention of the 2013/2014 Ekiti schorlaship that is yet to be paid since July 2013 but they have time to do photo-shoots while masters students abroad that have been promised funding are stranded. If that much money can be spent on a bedroom, why are they calling N500k scholarship which does not even come close to the £15-£18k being paid as tuition and yet even the N500k that translates to about £1800 has not even been paid.

    Diversionary tactics.

If you have a problem with your predecessor’s spending, pass the enquiry to the appropriate quarters, let them handle it and face why you are there. All these deliberate (mis)information and trial by public court should stop. Alainikanse

While I do appreciate him bringing this matter to light, I really hope this is not a diversionary tactic as @Fatimah said.

At least, the building is real. Please tell us, Mr. Fayose, how much was spent on your invisible poultry???

Clearly this is a tactic to shame Fayemi. He should bring evidence to support these numbers he is throwing out. If he can’t support it, he should hit his head on the wall.

Let’s see what he will do during his own 4 years

Fayose, are you in government to govern how Fayemi spent money or to govern the people?Did Fayemi’s government spend part of your allocation?
I think you should face your work and leave Fayemi alone. At least he has left the government house for you. What else do u want from the man??
    Mr Alainikanse!!!

the way i see it, the past governor blew money and Fayose enters and sees an avenue to make money and make his predecessor look bad at the same time… “I will call out that bastard for wasting govt money, act like i have to suffer the indignation of living in a mansion, and triple the amount required to maintain the building annually for the budget (and pocket the extra 100 million)”.
maybe i am too cynical but nothing is beyond these politicians.
