Exactly! He knows his ethnic group and he chooses to call himself a nigga? Those who don’t know their ancestry can keep the name if they like, but as an African with full knowledge of where you came from, stooping so low to attach a foreign, highly derogatory name to yourself reeks of stupidity to the power of a million. Some give nonintellectual reasons that adding -er to the word is different from nigga, very laughable is all I can say.

Scroll down and read Bruno’s comment. He’s got the meaning correctly on there. Besides, u can use your search engine. It’s inappropriate to use it and oh gosh it’s very racial and causes a lot of controversy..

When dbanj should be a stylist himself, that Swanky should be styling his Tonto abeg, making her look like clown always…

    December 5, 2014 at 5:50 pm

Lol what is he wearing, he should dress his age jor!! Using the word Nigga is very disrespectful to the black race, as you wouldn’t like it, if a person from another race said it to us….. Very ignorant!!!

    December 5, 2014 at 5:55 pm

nigga is a hateful word the white man called black people during the slave era. to intimidate them and to make blacks feel ugly and undesirable and less of a human.

pls stop it. if our ancestors where alive today they wont be happy that we are calling ourselves nigga.

    • ro2

      December 6, 2014 at 10:37 am

the word NIGGA is not an offensive word but the word NIGER is. Nigga is used by the blacks, especially the African-Americans, the term may mean “Solidarity or Attitude even affection. don’t get me wrong just do a little research on the word Nigga not Nigger or Niger.

    • Esi

      December 6, 2014 at 4:36 pm

I don’t know o, when you say the word, nobody can tell you’re saying “nigger” vrs “nigga”. I personally would rather not use it at all.

Hello BN, It doesn’t have to be money, here are my suggestions,

      1. Your designer partners to give/make dress for a fan (BN Style)
      2. Your airline/travel agency partners to do wedding give away e.g Weekend trip to an African (less expenses yet intriguing) Country (BN Wedding)
      3. Date night with a male and Female celebrity artist (BN Music)
      4. Date night with male and Female actor (BN Movie)
      5. Free makeover for a fan (BN Beauty)
      6. Free career counseling/resume build up for a fan (BN Career)

It all adds up to free publicity for your partners and in the case of the celebrity shows that are accessible to their fans too.

As per method of choosing, Trivia’s? How well do you know BellaNaija? Questions about the celebrity artist or actor? I’m out of ideas. lol

    Dear BN,
I started coming to this blog earlier this year and have kept coming back because of the quality of material you put out. Nothing to do with awuf. Please let it stay that way. Readers lurking for the hope of ‘catching something’ is not the same as a devoted readership. And I believe it will distract the staff and readers from the quality of your output, if you can maintain that once you go down the path cash compensations. In summary if you must give away anything please let it be something with meaning (I mean most of us that read blogs would, and do so for free anyway) i.e tickets to a nice cultural event like a play, jazz festival, movies, even free codes to download the ebooks of up and coming Nigerian authors (I for one will be happy to supply some for my book), etc.

    Let’s keep it quality!

Chai he’s just getting worse.. Even the Americans he’s trying to imitate, how many have titled their album with the N word? They ve it in their lyrics including F word but hunie this dude is arrogant but everyone wanna say he’s better and making $$$$ than Don Jazzy! He ain’t all that and what’s up with the fashion mess? I read on another blog that his land lord threatens to keep him out because he didn’t pay rent but I don’t know how true it is..

So all this D’banj is broke, D’banj is indepted, D’banj to be evicted is because he wanted to release a new song.. Well D’banj those Western style of “negative news is good news for celebrity” does not work in Nigeria because we believe everything and anything. Curiosity is not in our character, we don’t investigate. Lots of people people especially your haters actually believe you’re broke. So next time do something like ” D’banj is dating the first lady. or D’banj is not straight.” that I bet would work. I think I like D’banj.

there are times when you need to remind yourselves of the slave era and feel cool, knowing that in spite of the slavery, here you are today. NIGGA or no NIGGA. we are still standing strong. listen to the music first before complaining. His outfit is tooooooooooo gbaski.

  28. Naveah

    December 8, 2014 at 10:02 pm

    @ Prince Ajigbade

“in spite of the slavery, here you are today. NIGGA or no NIGGA. we are still standing strong”, no vex o BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTT who is all this “YOU” and “WE” that survived slavery??? Which Nigerian can trace themselves to their ancestors who were slaves in America? Which Nigerian can claim to have match in Mississippi or Washington? Which Nigerian has been fire hosed, fire bombed out of their homes because of their colors in the 50s, 60s etc?

Please, you have no “WE” to claim along with African Americans. Yes, we African immigrants can appreciate the foundation laid for us by African Americans literally through blood, sweat and tears BUT WE do not and will NEVER know the fully experience of slavery or the repercussion that is still very much part of the African American mentality. So PLEASE express solidarity out of some form of compassion and maybe a little empathy but to promote that word and it’s usage in a party song shows a LACK OF KNOWLEDGE and extreme IGNORANCE on the part of D’Banj. IF he had ever been called those words by a non-black person, he would understand the pain of it and wouldn’t throw it around ever so lightly.

    • Mohammad

      December 9, 2014 at 1:18 am

I get where you’re coming from, but you need to know that there are lots of (still) Nigerian descendants of slavery. Think of the Saros, the Agudas (returnee Afro-Brazilians) and not forgetting the would-be slaves of which Samuel Ajayi-Crowther was one. We learn something everyday

As for his dressing, I dare say Dapo is trying to imitate his mentor Kanye. This is not coming off eccentric or unique or avant garde, it’s just comes off as someone who is trying to hard to be something that he is NOT. Dapo, this blouse would be better suited on your girlfriend. Don’t you ever do this crap again o, haba…seriously, KNEE SOCKS and boots IN NIGERIA? Son, you are doing the most LOL!
