Imo State Gov. Okorocha Says Buhari is Nigeria’s Nelson Mandela

What an audacious comparison.

Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, has likened APC Presidential Candidate Muhammadu Buhari to Nelson Mandela, the late former president of South Africa who was an anti-apartheid revolutionary.

Okorocha made the statement while addressing Imo State indigenes from the Imo State Towns Development Association Lagos (ISTDAL) who held a reception for him at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Vanguard reports.

“Buhari is the Mandela of our time. At 72, what does he want? He will do one term, fix the country and move on and then power will be come back to the South. When power rotates to the South, the South-East will have it in 2019 because the South-West has had it through Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the South-South through Dr Goodluck Jonathan,” he said.

This a complete insult to Mandela and all he stood for. Someone who toppled a democratically elected government, incited violence that led to the killing of innocent NYSC members and over 800 youths. Rochas may God punish you for making such reckless statement!!

And please all this rotating power talk just reflects how dense his thought process is. Are we still on this rotating matter? Isn’t that a platform for violence to thrive?
I can’t stand this Rochas for the life of me

What is wrong with these APC governors?
Some days ago, it was Gov Oshimole advising President Jonathan to emulate Mandela and just do one term yet he is on his second term as a governor. Who told him that emulation cannot take place at the state level? Why did he go for a second term?

As for this one, where is the basis of the comparison?

Did Mandela overthrow a democratically elected government?
Did Mandela go against his own words by saying that h will never contest election gain and end up contesting again?
Did Mandela make careless and inciting statements like blood of monkeys and baboons flowing on the streets?
Did Mandela ever go on an international TV station and not properly mention what the acronym for the South African electoral body or ANC meant?

The list can go on…..so I do not see any basis for the comparison.

Moreover, saying he will do one term and then step down is actually against the official stand of APC because they said recently through Mr Lai Mohmammed that Buhari will be entitled to two terms in office if elected so which one should we believe then?

I think our politicians talk carelessly and that’s including the PDP and other parties. I think we need more refined and intellectually stimulating comments and not this kind of pub utterances by people hoping to lead our dear nation.

This is a sincere plea to readers of the above statement. I entreat all of you – please do not judge the collective intelligence of Imo State indigenes by the apparent illiteracy of this one man. Many brilliant minds exist among our vast numbers and we have no idea what Rochas did with the years he was supposed to have been getting his formative education. Perhaps, it would explain why he often spews this type of muddled nonsense…

My heartfelt apologies are also made to the people of South Africa as I assure you that this is just dim-wittedness coupled with political ass-kissing on display as no right minded Nigerian would ever desecrate the name of your apartheid revolutionary, your warrior against racial segregation, your champion for true unity in South Africa, the man who sacrificed 27 years of his life because he challenged the human rights abuses of the government of that era, your world-renowned philanthropist, your universally respected Madiba… by comparing any past or present Nigerian political leader (ANY past or present one among the entire bunch) with him.

And this goes to show the failings of African leaders in general. Whenever anyone wants to appear like a white knight, we immediately rush to dig up poor Mandela from the grave where he’s resting in peace. So, apart from Mandela, we have nothing else to aspire to in this area of leadership that deserves emulation, ehn kwa? Not a darned person in the entire continent? We need to be deeply ashamed of ourselves, all of us and including Rochas the delusional prat.

Pls who made this man a governor? Because he is really clueless. Doesn’t he know that if that GGF Buhari [GreatGrandFather] should probably do just a year and then pass away the power automatically shifts to the West? Osinbanjo as the Vice will inherit it. I guess that’s why OBJ and TINUBU are doing everything possible to make sure BUHARI wins because they know he won’t survive two years in office.
So Okoro-cha! Wake up from your Slumber.

*sigh* I’d like to apologise on behalf of my country people to any South Africans who may be reading this, especially the ones who have an idea of what apartheid was like. Only in Nigeria will a dictator be compared to someone who fought to end oppression. The sad thing is that it isn’t like one party is better than the other. After all P-baby and Mr Abati are holding up the fort at the other end of ridiculousness.

Crochas, ewu hausa, please stop insulting great men of this world. On behalf of Imo, I apologize to the rest of the world for the rubbish words of this man. Apparently he doesn’t really know what a great man Mandela is. He is under the impression that his ability to cheat and steal from Imo indigens gives him power to make such comparison.
