What a tragic way to go.

Bishop Bobby Davis in Connecticut, USA slumped when confessing his extra-marital affair to his congregation in March 2014, according to church members and police sources, states Connecticut Post.

According to an elder at the church, Judy Stovall, the confession came about after a service,

After the service on Sunday the bishop’s family asked us to remain in the church and the bishop confessed to us something that happened long ago. He wanted to come clean with all of us. He wanted to ask our forgiveness.”

The congregation of Miracle Faith World Outreach Church, was reportedly shouting words of support and affirmation, saying, “We forgive you, we love you”, when the pastor suffered a heart attack amidst the brouhaha.

Davis, a doctorate holder in ministry, and certified marriage and family therapist, had founded the church with his wife Christine at his side in 1967, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently, in June 2013.

Gbam!!! You took the words out of my mouth. Its sad that he passed on but imagine if he had died without confessing his sins. He is in a better place now. RIP Bishop

Read the story though its old. Nobody’s perfect so nobody should jugde him. The man confessed to his wife who then reported to the church members behind his back, she now ambushed him into confessing to the whole congregation. He contested itbut she insisted. This is a group of people he had pastored for so many years and then u make him do what he wasnt prepared for. The shame killed him and i feel so sorry for him. His family was not supportive even after he opened up to them. Read his son hit him and daughter poured water on him. Shame on all of them!!!!!! Now he’s gone they r happy. (Google and read it up).

Wateva sins he has not confessed is really none of our business, neither do we know if he is going to heaven ..

But a really gr8 point to notice is d fact that he cud confess to his church unlike others dat may just decide to do it personally wit God, he took a really bold step…

I think d people dat really nid to 4giv him are his family n God and we pray dat he does not av oda sins that wil tk him to hell…. so chill out guys n lets focus on oursef dat stil av d opportunity to mk our ways right wit God

Christians never cease to amaze me with their sense of deduction on damage control, whew! i’m pretty sure the owner of this site is christian or should i say professes to be ( na only u waka come cos me no know wetin u dey pay obeisance to every morng ) . Pls did u have to carry this story? no matter what motive you would claim you had in mind. The secular world would report it & bash our faith , we kwa would also use our hands to plunder ourselves cos there’s an understanding of KINGDOM we lack!

And before all the naysayers would start screaming bloody murder on my head , let me bring it home a lil bit for y’all… say for instance you have a philandering brother (who happens to be the black sheep of the family ) who goes ahead & brutally rapes one, two say three girls to the chagrin of the entire family. Sit down & tell yourself the home truth , gospel truth- would you at any time be the forerunner of running his story to every media house (that one too far sef ) using him as hottest gossip trending topic around ur neighborhood for his indecent condescending act ? i bet you ,you WON’T ! you’d rather want to cover his excesses in a very private manner yet unrelenting in chiding him & disciplining him wella to the best of the family’s abilities. Why, tell me, I pray thee ,do we then do that in the christian fold???

Christians, don’t realize what binds us is more than the biological family blood line we hold so dear & try our best possible to ”uphold the family name” , but wont be as fast to blot out anything that will taint the name of Christ ( look beyond the culprit and at the bigger picture of what indelible damaging dent it would do to the body of Christ ). We are the 1st to cry foul & tell the sins of our brethren on the mountains top (in a self righteous bid or what sef i dunno).

Pls don’t misconstrue me, i’m not saying such madness should be condoned, or even come to be accepted as a norm but does blowing it up on electric & social media channels nip it in the bud or helps the fallen one become restored in any manner ? it even worsens his plight & sends him into some darker tunnel for his flesh to completely ravage & destroy him?

There are thousand & one ways leaders that falter can be brought to book biblically but we no dey read bible na so how we wan know , electronic /social media bashing be our way of putting him in a straight jacket ,okwia?
Pls let’s have some sense christians! common sense! you think other faiths don’t have flocks that step out of line one too many times ? oh puhleaseee! wake up! (dem brekete scarra) how many of such (sexual) misdemeanors do you see blaring all over the place ? less than a handful ,if there is any sef.
Like cats they are so good at “concealing” their matters because sadly they have a deeper understanding of COVENANT than the so-called Christians that God took out time to cut a covenant with ! chai! SMH .

I earnestly pray that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened so w know what the hope of his calling for us is & walk therein in it. Restore your fallen christian brothers in LOVE or else you are no worse than him, cos you sin differently don’t make you no better. God’s grace always.

The blogs probably do it for traffic. It might not be all bad though. This story for instance, shows that Pastors are infallible and as such should not be seen as God. Also, it makes us aware that death could come at anytime so we need to make sure our hearts are right with God at all times.

I pray God takes him in. Very few people get this golden opportunity. For some pastors in naija, its better they do not confess or else the whole church building may collapse! Their sins too plenty!
