#BETAwards2015: 8 Moments We Can’t Stop Talking about from Last Night

The 2015 BET Awards just wrapped up a few hours ago and it was a night filled with amazing music and performances that we won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

Big winners of the night include Nicki MinajChris Brown, and more!

Music icons Janet Jackson and Smokey Robinson were both honored during the show, and tons of celebs took the stage to perform throughout the evening.

If you missed it, the show will be shown again on Tuesday, June 30 but we have put together 8 moments that were highlights for us during the event!

Janet Jackson – the Ultimate Icon

The 49-year-old singer made a rare appearance as she received the Ultimate Icon award for 2015 and she was all smiles as she thanked her fans for their support.

Rihanna & Her Duct Tape

Rihanna-BET-Awards-BellaNaija (3)For some weird reason, Rihanna had a roll of duct tape on her hand all night and we can’t figure out why except maybe it was for the simple reason that she’s Rihanna.

The singer had it on hand as she struck poses with other celebrities including Floyd Mayweather and more.

** Update – It turns out Rihanna’s duct tape was actually for people as she placed it over Floyd Mayweather, Boris Kodjoe & Nicole Ari Parker.

Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill were SO Cute

One couple that we definitely noticed during the 2015 BET Awards was Meek Mil and Nicki Minaj.

They were so cute and adorable as they stepped on the red carpet together, whispered to each other during the show, held hands on stage and more PDA moments.

P-Diddy’s Bad Boy Reunion

Mase & Faith Evans

Pharrell WilliamsFrench Montana, and The Lox joined the group at the end of the performance to pay tribute to the late Notorious B.I.G.

It was quite the performance and we’re not even counting the moment when Diddy accidentally fell through a hole in the middle of the performance.

Hosting Duties – Anthony Anderson & Tracee Ellis Ross

Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross were the hosts of the night and they did a fine job.

Tracee Ellis Ross Anthony Anderson BET Awards BellaNaija (6)

The two stars, took the stage as the show started for an opening number and they sang a hilarious parody of Estelle‘s “Conqueror.” The song mocked their careers, the industry and more – it even featured some flying and tumbling.

They also had quiet A LOT of wardrobe changes – but we are not complaining.

During the show there was a lot of shade being tossed around especially Trace Ellis Ross’ dig at Chris Brown, Tyga and Rachel Dolezal.

Michael B. Jordan’s Speech – Black Lives Matter

Actor Michael B. Jordan hit the stage at the BET Awards and gave a powerful speech about Black Lives Matter.

Michael B. Jordan

Michael B. Jordan

He said:

We’d like to take a moment to send out prayers and strength to our people in Charleston, South Carolina, who have endured but are prevailing over a horrific act of domestic terrorism. But because of that amazing resilience, and forgiveness of that community, the acts of that madman are having the exact opposite effect that he intended. All over South Carolina, love is triumphing over hate, the way it should.

Every year, at the BET Awards, we shine a light on individuals who make extraordinary contributions to our community, but this year we’re going to shine a light in a different way. Tonight, we shine a light in honor of the many men, women, and children who stood up, held signs, marched, took to social media, got arrested, or even laid down in protest as a part of the Black Lives Matter movement. We are shining a light on all of you. We are shining a light on the people of Ferguson, Baltimore, New York, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Oakland, North Charleston, South Carolina, and McKinley, Texas, and everywhere else in this country where we’ve had to find the strength to fight through the sorrow of losing innocent lives while simultaneously demanding the justice we so richly deserve.

BET is shining a light on you, for taking to the streets, insisting that Black Lives Matter, and being a constant reminder that we are not yet where we intend to be. Black Lives Matter. You matter. We see you, and we applaud your unbreakable, unshakeable strength. Thank you.

Na wa o, marriage (to an Arab!) is good for Janet Jackson o! The orijo Janet that I know would have had her boobies well on display, with that zipper way, way down :). Anyone notice Rihanna’s knees? Mine sure don’t look like that. Obviously she never served punishment (kneeling down on concrete) at school like moi – I was late erry blessed day, so you must know what my knees look like now :). Faith Evans looks great, aging beautifully. And as for you Ciara, no one can do Janet like you, except Janet herself. Smashing body on you Tracee (but then you never born, so the challenge is easier for you just now). And please what was the K. Michelle lady wearing? I’m sure Tamar was thinking “girl, get your life! and a new stylist while you’re at it” 🙂 tee-hee!

not sure childbirth has much to d with how a woman looks by middle age. Reverend sisters still have that middle age tummy flab. It all depends on how you keep yourself. So don’t use it to console yourself.
Also not sure black knees on a black person is all about how much kneeling down one did, same as black knuckles are not about how much knocking, or black elbows about how much rubbing. What is red on a white skin appears black on a black skin- it is simply normal. What is abnormal is to for your knees and thighs to be the same tone. You can desire that and work towards it, like Rihanna has clearly done.

@FOls, girls your comment had me on the floor – thanks for the Monday laugh, my day is a slight drag. But I feel you on that K Michelle and Tamar thought. I also liked the way Faith is aging, very nice and sexy, and Traci’s body is right, but as you said, no kids so we envy from a distance but no hating or shade, she looks banging for her age, same as Taraji and Gab Union. Mighty fine lads, and of course we love the couple alert – Nikki and Meek, I think he’s toned her down and she has a really great dress sense since they met, I like her dress code now, very appealing and of course Riri doing her thing! always my fav girl.
