Man Caught Stealing on Aero Flight

An individual named Ovuironye Mathew Dennis, traveling onboard a 6: 45 a.m Aero flight from Lagos, bound for Abuja on Monday, was allegedly caught stealing.

Here is the story, as reported by The Nation:

He (Dennis) was caught while stealing about N350, 000 from a luggage belonging to an Austrian, Novotny Anton, another passenger on the flight.

Dennis,  31 with 1.65 height as captured in his temporary driver’s licence and seating on flight seat No. 23C  was spotted by a member of the airline’s cabin crew when he removed the Austrian’s bag from the cockpit as if he was changing his seat.

Our correspondent, who was on onboard the flight, said the suspect was also caught with a wrap of marijuana.

The suspect had removed the bag from the cockpit where the Austrian sat, took it to his own seat, giving impression that he was changing his seat and stole a sum of N150, 000 and 500 Euros belonging to the Austrian.

But he ran out of luck when a female cabin crew raised alarm, asked him to remain seated while he was trying to return the bag to the cockpit before the Austrian could suspect any foul play.

“While trying to return the bag I asked him to seat down. But he became uncomfortable before the plane landed and the white man raised alarm that he couldn’t find his bag,” she said.

Immediately the plane landed at the Abuja airport, the Austrian couldn’t find his bag and raised alarm, but the cabin crew member told him to check the bag with Dennis.

After the suspect was stripped naked, he told other angry passengers that he mistakenly took the bag in question for his own.

The Austrian later discovered that the sum of N150, 000 and 500 Euros had been taken from the bag.

Other passengers immediately descended on the thieving Dennis.

The money was later found on him alongside a wrap of marijuana.

The suspect told The Nation that he stole the money to take care of his ailing mother.

why do they have to strip him naked? Do we have to always behave in such an aboriginal manner. And it’s sad that the reporter doesn’t know the difference between “overhead cabin and cockpit”, he is here calling cockpit anyhow,so much mediocrity in the Nigerian media corporations. Hope the young man is prosecuted irrespective of whether his mother is sick or not.

‘Aboriginal manner’ ke? Since there’s actually a group of people called Aboriginals, you know that was an extremely offensive expression right?
As for stripping him, they were clearly looking for an apology from his penis. I hope it gave them their apology and they were happy *hiss*

yes I do know, it’s just really annoying with the flood of poorly edited stories from pillar to post online in Nigeria, just take the one of US gives $5 billion to MNJTF(in other words basically Nigeria) to fight boko haram. Our president said last week we need $100 million to wage this war from July 30, so does it make sense that the US will donate 50 times this Sum? When Mr.President has already even approved release of $21 million, so all that is needed now is $79 million. Seriously I’m fed up, because of the misinformation and lies they spread.

In a civilised society, they would have radioed police ahead of landing, and the police would have come on board before anyone is allowed to disembark. Clearly, we don’t live in one.
By the way, is the cockpit not the pilot’s section? Did this reporter mean to say cabin?

“Cockpit”? “… seat down”? It’s almost impossible to see articles/ news without misspelled words these days, even from the so-called big news agencies. It seems like they fired all their editors when they went online. These blunders are just distracting and take away from the authenticity of the story especially when you know it’s not a typographical error. This reminds me of when Punch had on their website for hours that ” Amaka Igwe has dead “

Amaka Igwe has dead? Chi m! I am embarrassed on their behalf! Chai!

I bet you don’t read Punch newspaper. The rate at which they misspell words is alarming. The worst for me is the constant use of “he” for “she” and vice versa!
