BN Collection to Closet: Toke Makinwa in Wana Sambo

Hey BellaNaijarians! BN Style is bringing back a fab feature you loved – BN Collection to Closet!

This is a way we show appreciation for the African fashion industry by shining a light on those who #BuyAfrican.

From stylish guests on our BN red carpet, to celebrities being celebrities, we will be sharing how African fashion pieces are taken from collection to closet.

To kick off this rebirth, we are looking to eponymous Nigerian womenswear brand, Wana Sambo.

The label started in December 2010 and is a go-to brand for ready-to-wear pieces with an edge. Not only does the brand give us signature pieces that will unveil the stylista in you, it also creates stunning red carpet outfits that have draped some of the entertainment industry’s most stylish.

The brand launched its Resort 2015 collection with Eva Alordiah as its face in March this year. One of those pieces debuted was a blue & orange top & trouser set with a flowing blue kimono to match.

On a recent trip to Miami, TV & radio personality – Toke Makinwa rocked this outfit as she headed to New York City. Toke ditched the blue kimono and went for a pop of colour with its orange alternative. She paired her Wana Sambo set with flats (very travel appropriate), gold accessories and stunning shades.

We love how chic & comfy she looks. Loving it?

Dear Wana Sambo, paying aunty Toke to wear this hideous jumpsuit will not help your brand sell. Go back to the drawing book and work on your tailoring and cheap fabric. You cudn’t even hem the jumpsuit and kimono to her height so it looks more flattering? So we should buy this and sweep Lagos abi? nawa o .
