APC Insists Monthly Payment of N5,000 to Unemployed Nigerian Youth Will be Implemented

Lai Mohammed

APC National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed

In the aftermath of the Senate’s rejection of the motion to pay N5,000 monthly allowance to unemployed youths in the country, APC insists that it will still be implemented.

The party made this promise via the following statement (excerpt) Punch reports:

Now, the Buhari administration has been busy putting into place measures that will make it possible to start the implementation of this project. Such measures include the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA). We are happy to inform Nigerians that as of the end of September 2015, over 1.4 trillion Naira – which hitherto was lying unproductively in various commercial banks – has been recovered
and paid into the TSA.

According to the publication, APC also said “in its usual jumpy and superficial approach to issues, the PDP has already rushed to judgement on the issue without bothering to hear from the APC, which made the promise in the first instance.”

I personally find it nauseating to read anything that comes from Lai Mohammed. Sounds lousy most of the time and always….always casts blame. The truth is, for a party that promised so much, the APC is not even pretending to be trying to fulfill their campaign promises not to talk of making the electorate see the signs of these promises being fulfilled. Forget PDP now and make even those who didn’t support APC to see the difference justifying you to be in power. All of you, whether PDP or APC should know that our eyes are open o. The days of casting blame to distract us from the main issue have gone o.

Sounds good but unrealistic. Let’s be honest with our selves for once.
    Who are the unemployed youths?
How many are they? Do we have their demographics? What data do we have?
Are we about to give money out to pseudo unemployed Nigerians?
The rich getting richer? Nepotism at it’s peak?

Please dear politicians, our people have come of age.
We need to stop all these hide and seek games. . Let’s start setting achievable goals.

What happened to ” You win”? Assisting youths who are already trying things out themselves is the way to go for now.
Let’s not create a culture of dependence. We can’t even afford that now.
We can build on programs like sure P and you win and make it even better.
It does not matter who invented it. The key word here is Nigeria/ Nigerians! !

Abi o! How do we classify ‘unemployed youths”? Are they those who are through with tertiary education and still jobless? those without basic education? all from age 18 to what?

Create an enabling environment for job creation. This is a case of giving fish instead of teaching how to fish.

Instead of creating jobs they want to give unemployed youths 5000. I’m not sure Wat I can do with 5000 in a week sef. We that have bought sewing machine and employed ourselves nkor, Are we in this category?
My airtel data is 3500 for 4.5gig, if they can review android data en, I would be more grateful than this 5k. (My data is almost finished, get the drift?)

Nigerian youths don’t need handout from the government! What they need is a skill set & macro loan or grant that will allow them to setup small businesses of their own thereby creating more employment opportunities….. I sometimes can’t help but wonder the types of people running Nigeria both past & present…

Without social security number or some kind proof how will they do their maths and balance up, good idea but as usual poor methods of going about it. This will only end up been another method of siphoning money, cause there will be more ghost unemployed youths

We dont have any solid plans for job creation but we can give you 5k… Looks like these people just savour other people living in poverty. What is 5k? I see it as an avenue to embezzle funds.

Paying N5,000 monthly to unemployed youths was a wild promise that Buhari and APC knew they can never implement because it is senseless, impracticable and unproductive. A desperate politician would say anything to hoodwink the gullible (as most Nigerians that were deceived with the CHANGE slogan orchestrated by social media).

Be it APC or PDP, none of these groups of FAMILIAR SPIRITS mean well for Nigeria and Nigerians. You can imagine that issues that FELA of blessed memory sang about over 30-40 years ago are still with us.

If Nigerians want CHANGE, we should start bracing up for a REVOLUTION that will take out these groups of FAMILIAR SPIRITS completely.

I find it amazing and amusing that anyone actually believed that this APC government will ever give-out 5,000naira to any jobless youth or even feed school children. So, Nigerians are not already used to the normal songs Nigerian politicians sing during campaigns which includes; ‘we will build road, give free healthcare, education, turn Nigeria to America etc’ while dancing to ‘everybody chop akpako by TerryG. This clearly shows that Nigerian youth will in the next 4 dispensations still vote for evil people because the politicians knows how dumb we are. Make una dey there dey deceive yourself. Even if we had good biometric system, this government no go pay Sho-shi. I will start believing in this ‘change’ mantra only if this APC government continues with the last dispensation’s Agricultural initiative or better still improve on it; push the implementation of true federalism, purge the executive list of unactualizable things like electricity distribution, encourage state resource control, tighten restrictions on import of many items such as food and get to jail all those found wanting of corruption, from Tinubu to Deziani, to Amechi to anyone, even Emir Sanusi. That will be the change the country needs; not this noise making and retractions of electoral promises.
