R Kelly - Dec 2015 - BellaNaija
R. Kelly says he isn’t here for the negativity.

The international pop star’s latest interview has gone viral.

The 48-year-old singer and songwriter sat down with a host for Huffington Post Live on Monday December 21st to promote his 13th studio album – Buffet, and the interview quickly took a turn.

Six minutes into the interview, host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani asked about his thoughts on the support of R. Kelly the artiste vs. R. Kelly the person, as well as his past sexual allegations.

He responded, saying;

“I didn’t come here for negative. I came here for positive. I don’t give people that’s negative towards me the time of day … When you start getting negativity coming at you, you pretty much don’t wanna hear that crap. Especially if it was, what, I don’t know how many years ago.

So what I’m gonna tell you is that I am going to sit here and talk gonna talk to you like the beautiful lady you are and I’m gonna talk to you with respect but I’m gonna let you know that any other negative things come at me out of your mouth, as far as negativity, I’m gonna get up and walk out and I’m gonna go to McDonald’s. Hopefully, the McRib is out and I’m going to go home to Chicago, play me some basketball, go to the studio and work on my next album,” he said.

After a few more questions about his views on sex, he walks off. Watch as it unfolds

Well I can’t blame him for walking out. Yes, it’s not the right move to make & I consider it as been rude. However, that’s his past, that’s so last season & at this point, he’s sick and tired of been sick and tire of the same gaddam BS conversation. He ain’t the first to walk out neither will he b the last (Ask Nicki Minaji)..

Some of these folks asking these questions are retarded and they find every means to get on your nerves. How about U ask him about his present & future; instead of his Ugly past. ??

People are so quick to judge, yet when others judge them, they act brand new like this unprofessional news caster. Asked her about getting drunk silly and she could not even answer it. I respect r.kelly for taking control of the situation. He does not have to stay there and let someone disrespect him. Only some stupid Fools that like to live in the past no matter how big or small their sins are. Thank God he doesn’t have that mind.

Really? When SERIOUS MISBEHAVIOUR is being addressed, you call that “judging”? Ok. I challenge u to maintain this stand IF such an abominable thing like defiling a minor happens to one of the girls in your family or when a grown adult decides to do disgusting “golden showers” (go check what that means) on your impressionable teen girl. Even 20 years later, repeat this interesting phrase of yours on behalf on your girl’s abuser:

He does not have to stay there and let someone disrespect him. Only some stupid Fools that like to live in the past no matter how big or small their sins are.

That’s not awkward BN. The guy gave her a hint: I am not here for the negativity. Everybody have their own secret skeleton and they should learn to forgive and bid bye. He deserve the walks out and I praise him for that courage. Besides, Huff is more interested in their pocket and gains at his bad expense & I don’t what insinuate color here because that could play a part. Some white folks have their past but they never mention or even question it and we know them.

Yes we all make mistakes but, some mistakes are just too costly. You mess with minors, you carry the baggage all your life. Nigerian laws/enforcement is lax, If not. high profile people like Mustapha Audu should continue to deal with inquisition regarding the allegation against him. R. Kelly is high profile and these allegations are ‘loud’ whispers.

Methinks it’s karma that claps back at him anytime he wants to get his breakthru. Do u know the amount of minors he messed up, got pregnant, made them have an abortion, then silenced them with money or threats? He silenced Aaliyah’s family with money. Till date, they regret for not speaking out against their daughter’s robbed innocence in exchange for a few bucks. They have chopped the money, now what? Some things cannot just be “bought.” Even if u silence people with money, karma will still get u. And now his own daughter is a transgender boy known as Jay. Karma don’t play baby.

Great one R, Kelly, let her know it’s high time people respected other people’s private life. Talk about his music and not his sexuality! He didn’t come on the show to talk about his sexuality but his new album!!

He was not found guilty of all the charges. how does that mean he is guilty? Please you have a sit! Let the man be. This interviewer was doing what the system does to black men and black people in general. If you cant see that then thats too bad.

    • Abena

      December 22, 2015 at 12:07 pm

It is obvious you know nothing about the documented abuse this man put minors through. Google R.kelly and village voice article. It is all there for you to read. After you read it, if you can separate his music from the pedophile he is, then good for you!

So he should carry it over his head for the rest of his life. This is just insane. He acknowledge the wrongdoings and apologozie, What else? What’s the benefits of asking such a question? Did he still have court cases or charges? Are the victims still pressing charges? Do you still molest kids? Whatever way and how the questions seems, is just nonsense, useless and fill its hatred. Some groupies are behind this, they can’t forgive and forget the matter for the rest of life.

Thank you very much my dear… i am angry at the comments on this platform, someone defiles little girls, doesnt even acknowledge his wrongs and doesnt show any sign of regret and we think “no one is perfect” because he is going to promote music!!!
Crimes against children are never forgotten because they are the most vulnerable in life and we are all supposed to protect them, that is the basic rule of this life which is even obeyed in the animal kingdom (the herd never leaves until the young ones are strong enough to walk).

The responsibility is even greater when the society elevates a person to STARDOM!!! and when the STAR uses his status to defile little girls …..it is not forgotten, it is never forgotten..even if it is forgive, it is not forgotten.
No amount of TALENT or MUSIC is worth the life of a single little girl. , . The society might have forgiven him, but they will be stupid to forget it, more so when there are still wide eyed, easily influenced, little girls on the street!!!

we all know that the so called kids are as rotten as anything. Is it not all these aka kids that have kids when they are 12 and 13 years? Because he is a celebrity and they believe they can make money from him that is why they are all screaming out, if it is a bomb in their neighborhood that does worse things to them will they shout? Abeg people should free the guy

  10. December Wind

    December 22, 2015 at 5:31 am

He sounded like , he’s been paranoid of getting questions like that in an interview especially when he’s trying to promote his album . He’s paranoid that his album is not making much sales like it used to and he knows that it’s probably because of people’s conflicted thoughts towards his controversial lifestyle.

I understand that he wants to move on and get pass that but getting worked up and walking away isn’t really the best way to deal with . You have to face your fears , get to the point where you’re comfortable to talk about it , admit your wrong and still apologize if need be . We know you’re not perfect but people would heal more If they know you’re remorseful and repentant.

He just blew the opportunity of winning back the hearts of his fans with conflicted thoughts in a more appropriate and graceful way. He thought the interviewer was the problem , he forgot that the spotlight was still on him .

Wow! R.Kelly made that girl sweat for her questions, in as much she was trying to get it together but we all know she was crying on the inside. I mean, R.Kelly was promoting an album and then she is asking questions like she was his mental health therapist try to get to the bottom of his sexual inadequacies. Wrong timing, wrong questions, and definitely messing with the wrong person.

Who are we to Judge, the lady clearly isn’t a big fan of his, her face and un-readiness to move past that subject shows it. But this brings a question, aren’t we all prone to make mistakes? Who are you to judge someone else or say another sin is greater than the other? who are you? Moses killed, God used him, peter lied, david snatched another man’s wife and killed him!
So please keep quiet, forming self righteous and holy. There is no excuse for mistakes but we all fall short, we all that weakness that we pray about. Even a Man of God is still a Man and not a Spirit.

The many disgusting comments here make me understand why many girls easily fall prey to sexual predators with no consequences for their attackers. R. Kelly has a well documented history as a paedophile!!! He preyed upon, groomed, and defiled underaged girls!! He committed rape!!! He married an underaged girl!! He raped his own goddaughter when she was underage!! Unfortunately he is wealth gave him access to good legal defence and allowed him to shut people up with money, so he did not get the much needed opportunity to rot in jail like he deserves. And you guys are here congratulating him and talking about private life and falling short when someone tried to call him out on his terrible actions. Its really disturbing to me, The fact that these comments are being made on a mostly women focused blog is doubly sad. Ladies we need to do better.

    • confused2

      December 22, 2015 at 11:45 am

It baffles me really. Some people on here are saying let the past be the past. The past can only be the past when he apologizes to those girls and stop acting like he has amnesia or acting all holy. If he keeps ignoring what he did, people will never forgive. Own up to your mistakes, apologize to those girls. Then when people ask you, you can say i am not perfect, as a human i have done what i can possibly do to correct my mistakes, the only one can then judge you is God

Child abuse and molestation is a big problem in every part of the world and its even bigger when the perpetrator has influence as the R. Kelly has. it means young people are more at risk. In this case they will be throwing themselves at you because you are a STAR (POWER). The only assurance in this situation is a RESPONSIBLE STAR who will draw the boundaries and protect the children in spite of themselves.
If R. Kelly cant resist defiling (this is even not rape because the children are under aged) little children then he is stepping into criminality and must not be encouraged until he gives the society the assurance that under aged girls are safe with him, since they are likely to be among his fans..
In any case, its the society that makes you a STAR and if making you a STAR puts the little girls at risk, then the society is right not let you be a STAR. If you defiled someone’s daughter twenty years ago and you are still likely to to do it to my daughter today, why should I not be bordered about you now?
Dont forget Bill Cosby to quickly……he got away with rape all these years because no one was bold enough to call him out, and these are even grown women. We are talking about little girls here, we need to be as careful as we can. my penny.

      December 22, 2015 at 7:06 pm

of course my dear, when a man defiles your under aged daughter and shows up after 20 years, you will line up your grand daughters so that he can pick his choice since he only comes for the young ones.

You only make such comments if you have no brain
I ve never been rude on BELLA but this is a specially touchy issue and your dismissive attitude is really disrespectful to any child that has gone through abuse.

please when it comes to abuse, time really does nothing for you, especially if it is a child.

I pray that nothing like this happens to any kid in your life..

And please stop talking about proving the case in court, even Cosby managed to get his incriminating confessions sealed…..with money and influence what cant a man buy?

Why dont you ask Clive Davis and all the top hollywood moguls and the Charlie Sheens about their pedophilia rings molesting kids for decades in hollywood. Just cos you dont know about it does not mean it doesnt exist. I know for a 100% fact what goes on in hollywood and the demonic satanic stuff and pedophilia rings amongst the top dawgs thats covered up. They did it to Michael, they did it to Tevin, they did to MCcauley, the two Coreys, the list goes on and on. These are facts you will never hear in the media because they are covered up.

White folks will always bring black folks down for the wrong they did in the past (eg Kelly, Cosby etc) but they will never mention the demonic stuff going on in Hollywood and Capital Hill DC and the pedophilia rings amongst notable top govt officials and hundreds of hollywood top wigs which have been covered up for years and decades.

I dont condone child molestation but there is a time and place to ask the question. he came to promote his album- so talk about that, and dont be asking about stuff he did in the past more than 10 years ago, We all know he did it, i dont think he came there to be question on that, We al ljudge him plenty 10 yrs ago when it came out, am not interested in going back there and discussing it, but dont put him in a corner like that and embarass him for his past sins. which wee all crucified him on years ago,

  28. Tim

    December 23, 2015 at 4:48 am

He came to a show to promote his album and you are asking him about his past, do you expect him to be distracted because of the main reason he came to the show? Well i never read that he was found guilty of all those charges. What if he was been framed? Do you also consider his emotions? Let God be the judge.
