Police Declares State of Emergency in Kaduna to Curtail Kidnapping

As kidnap cases go on the rise in Kaduna state, the state police on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in the state to curb the criminal act.

Command spokesman for the Kaduna state police command DSP Zubairu Abubakar in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said that the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase ordered the declaration of state of emergency in the state.

Arase had already ordered the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7, Ballah Nasarawa to relocate to Kaduna to supervise police operations in the state.

Among those kidnapped are Col Samaila InusaRev. Iliya Anthony, Vice-president United Church of Christ in Nigeria. Sadly, they both lost their lives before they were found.

Other kidnap victims were Rev. Emmanuel Dziggau and Rev. Yakubu Dzarma who were kidnapped with the late Rev. Iliya Anthony, and Mansur Ahmed, a Director in Dangote Group.

The spokesman said that they are working to put an end to the despicable act by these criminals. He also said that 13 suspects have been charged to court while 15 others are under investigation.
