ibrahim Chatta 2

Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta, who mostly acts Yoruba movies is causing a stir on social media because of his “appeal” to his fans NOT to vote for him as the Best Actor in the 2016 City People Entertainment Awards.

His reason for this is that, “Nigerian movie awards are not credible”

Here’s what he wrote on Instagram:

Hello fellas, my name is Ibrahim Abiodun Chatta. I’d like to appeal to my friends, fans and folks not to vote for me on d city people’s best actor of d year nomination. PLS DO NOT VOTE FOR ME , as I am not interested and I believe most of d film awards in Nigeria are not credible enough. So I won’t allow anybody or organization rubbish my GOD given talents. Ire ooo

Nigerian entertainment awards are simply not credible neither do they inspire. Honestly. Please don’t vote for him lol. Good luck with your career jare.

I guess, his own little publicity stunt. I watch Yoruba movies bcos some are really good and to learn Yoruba. I’ve never seen your face definitely not your name.
      But I know you now.

haba you cant say you watch Yoruba movies and not know him…. He’s quite popular, with that being said, his acting is horrible fake and annoying. He tries to speak English even more than the Yoruba that he’s suppose to be speaking. Trying to make a point I guess.

God bless you Mary. He speaks English all the time in Yoruba movies, which is very annoying. He is one of the many problems of the industry

You don’t watch enough yoruba movies. Lol. This guy has been acting yoruba movies for quite a long time now.

Maybe I haven’t watched enough of Yoruba movies to recognize his face or I’m selective. Can the editors work better on the subtitle/translation? It’s awful. If his acting is terrible, he better be glad his name is on nomination. I guess, he knows he’s terrible and told on himself.

      July 8, 2016 at 3:08 pm

I mistakenly loved this. If you haven’t seen Ibrahim in any Yoruba films, that means you aren’t really into Yoruba films.
He’s a brilliantt actor who can deliver any role. It’s his choice not to be voted for and I will respect that.
Aja to ri ni to n juru, to ba ri ni to ba n gbo, nnkan nbe!

Well said, ibrahim chatta is an actor with unique skill,if you have not seen him before now then we need to ask where u watch the yoruba movies you claim to have watched,he was even in the much talked a out movie of Kunle Afolayan “October 1st”

I would never have voted for you even if I was given the opportunity. I don’t like your acting. No need to plead for people not to vote.

Lmao @Ebere Owah. As in ehn…. infact, i don’t even know who the guy be. How was he even nominated? You don’t say such about the industry you are in guy… IF its not credible, then do a good movie that would be well received and appreciated, not trying to play Mr. Goody Two Shoes on social media. Whatever joor!

First of all, i am just seeing this dude for the first time(for someone like me who watch yoruba movies when am bored),i have never ever come across his name even in the cast list that i wait to see sometimes just incase i like someone and i dont know their real names. So since the Nigerian movies awards aint credible, i am be waiting for the blockbuster with “Hollywood” where you gonna be given an award that will be credible. Shits like this annoy me. Am very sure this guy is very high on cheap drugs.

That was a very bold thing for him to do.. (I don’t think it was wise tho). I have a feeling that from
now getting a nomination from the various “not so credible” organisations, would be very difficult..

Very childish. Mr Ibrahim please be well informed that even if you didn’t put out this post, you would never have won. I wonder why you even got a nomination. You’re not a fantastic actor.
My other mind thinks this is just a ploy to be relevant, but you thought well see the all the publicity you’ve gotten.

    July 8, 2016 at 3:02 pm

You’re right Ibrahim Chatta, that you were even nominated for any movie award surprises me and does speak to the credibility of this award. You do need to brush up on your acting skills; no shade just constructive criticism. I watch Yoruba movies and it’s hard watching you act (sorry; that’s my truth).
But nice try on the reverse psychology though

    July 8, 2016 at 3:06 pm

I actually like his movie, if you watch Yoruba movie like I do, you go sabi am! Free advert, go watch aye loja on YouTube… Very nice something! Ibrahim, kunle afod and odun are my fav

His acting is below average, just there, tries to be funny but it doesn’t work. This might be just one of his attempts at being funny

    July 8, 2016 at 3:21 pm

The last time I checked, you were irrelevant to the movie industry. cheap publicity.
Commot for road shoor, make better person talk.

Isn’t this the guy that has been accused of domestic violence by 2 different wives?

Anyway, it’s reverse psychology. If he wins, he’ll claim his fans must have really wanted him to win. If he loses, well he told y’all not to vote ……

His acting annoys me though, especially when he acts like he has speech issues.

Constructive criticism; In my opinion I think this dude just need a feedback from you though and I have time to tell him my own point of view. 1. Ibrahim you’re not a very good actor or better still not good acting/playing posh or decent or nice husband or boyfriend in any role sorry dont take this personal i mean in any role, you work hard but you annoy your audience more.. I cannot count the number of people that can’t bear you acting posh or decent dude with your fake accent.
    2. You are very good playing babalawo, old man, blind man and all those epic role meennnnnn i give that to you 100%.. Well done on that !!!
Conclusively; stick to what you’re good at, then improve yourself in what you are not good at. We all have our strength and weekness. Lastly professionally is not a best practice for you to ask your fans or friends not to vote for you. Ibrahim that is being rude okay!!!

Please don’t give him roles. It is those rubbish, unworthy, uncredible roles that have gotten him to where he is and has paid most bills. I think he is in the wrong occupation and I think you should help him leave.

Every time I visit this website, I get amused by the myriads of ignorant comments. If you really watch Yoruba movies, you will definitely know the name and face of Ibrahim Chatta. Instead of displaying this kind of ignorance here, it would have been better to tell us you are not a fan of yoruba movies. As far as I’m concerned, the guy is one of the best Nigerian actors I’ve seen over the years. Pls go to youtube and watch Ayeloja. He has also won several awards for his craft. Ofcourse, i do also believe that majority of Nigerian awards (not only movies) are bullshit and not worthwhile.

    July 9, 2016 at 3:33 pm

everybody says n does bullshit on the internet and later call it publicity stunt(s)….Besides who ever told him he was relevant just kicked the bucket, its all in the mind, pretty much DEAD ON ARRIVAL!!!

I don’t know why pple get cracy about English language in everything……………..even in Yoruba movie. You don’t need brighter grammar to be the best in Yoruba movie. Ibrahim is gifted,
