Alleged Killing of Chibok Girls by Airstrikes: “Boko Haram Terrorists Lied!” – Air Force States in New Video

In response to the allegations by Boko Haram Terrorists that scores of the abducted Chibok Girls have been killed by military airstrikes, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has released a statement and a video to debunk the claim.

The statement read:

It is pertinent to state that the video is not only a ruse but another mischievous effort by the dying sect to draw public attention to itself. Whereas the video showed a cross section of the abducted girls and an airborne aircraft, it provided no evidence that the supposed casualties were as a result of any air to ground attack.

More so, there is sufficient evidence to believe that the casualties were arranged as the positioning of the bodies clearly defies any natural setting of a location that has undergone aerial bombardment. Besides, the impact and accompanying degree of damage to the bodies would have been more, were they to have died from air strike. It is therefore clear that the video is a make-up story to discredit the NAF, and more importantly, a deliberate effort to weep up sentiment among the public in order to dissuade and discontinue the use of airpower which has proved very effective as the major determinant factor in the successes recorded in the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North East.

The NAF has put-in place a number of measures to avoid the incidence of collateral damage. To this end, considerable effort is committed to undertaking Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, both day and night, to ensure that only legitimate military targets are engaged.

Besides, NAF ISR platforms carry highly sophisticated equipment on-board which are able to provide pin-point accurate intelligence about target location and description as depicted in the enclosed video on our ISR operations. And where there are doubts about target status, we do not undertake strike missions.

In any case, the NAF, being a professional fighting force, has not and will not engage in unprofessional practices in discharging its statutory duties.

The NAF will like to assure Nigerians, living within the vicinity of its operations, of their safety. While urging them also to disregard the BHT video as a mere propaganda, the NAF wishes to use this opportunity to restate its commitment to restoration of peace in the North East and other troubled areas in the country.

This felt like a Movie scene. Nollywood action film. But seriously this Boko Haram Issue is a big challenge for the Govt and the Military cos I can imagine what its like to try to defend innocent citizens and at the same time fight these terrorists. May God help us overcome this as a nation. The thing is i still don’t see what they are fighting for just some jobless people cooking up things to make the world without peace!!!

In no way whatsoever does the video show the NAF did no wrong either. Intelligence seems lacking in the intelligence community in even defending themselves. Tell me, how does this video (musical, LoL) say that the NAF didn’t do what BH claimed.

I’m not in anyway holding forte for BH either but wouldn’t a more graphic video of the actual bombings – though not definitive evidence – showing BH fighter fleeing as the bombs rained down say a better story by we seeing that women and children were not victims of the offensive be a better tool for NAF PR with their pseudo-forensic statement that the injuries from an air raid would be much more grave than what BH claim?

Why are the Nigerian Air Force suddenly became so defensive? You bombed their locations, didn’t you.? ( I am not a supporter of Boko Haram. Let me be very clear.) Is it not true that you ( Nigerian Air Force, who bombed Boko Haram position? After bombing their locations, what proofs do you have to disprove their claim.? The Chibok Girls Were collateral damages. Both Members of the Nigeria Air Force and Boko were equally guilty of the deaths of Chibok Girls period. Because both of your actions was responsible. So don’t come out and be trying to make yourselves look innocent. All the Nigerian Air Force needs to do is to own up to whatever action or actions they might have taken and the consequential effect of such action period. instead of thinking they can lie their way out of this. Shame on you all. Nigeria Air Force needs a new spokes person. Your current spinderella sucks. A word is enough for the wise. I’ m just saying.
