France’s Highest Court Suspends ‘Burkini’ Ban

Police Orders woman to remove her 'burkinis' at the promenade des anglais beach in Nice.

Police officers order Muslim woman to remove her ‘burkinis’ at the promenade des anglais beach in Nice.

France’s highest administrative court on Friday suspended a ban on full-body ‘burkini’ swimsuits, that was imposed in the town of Villeneuve-Loubet, REUTERS reports.

The ban, which had outraged Muslims and opened divisions within the government, was suspended, pending a definitive ruling.

The Conseil d’Etat said the ban “seriously and clearly illegally breached fundamental freedoms to come and go, freedom of beliefs and individual freedom”.

The ruling could set a precedent for up to 30 other towns that have imposed the ban. The court will make a final decision on the legality of the bans later.

The ruling follows a request from the League of Human Rights to overturn the ‘burkini ban’.

A lawyer outside court said that people who had been fined could claim their money back.

The ban has ignited fierce debate in France and worldwide.

According to BBC, Opinions polls suggested most French people backed the bans, which town mayors said were protecting public order and secularism.

Muslims said they were being targeted unfairly.

French police had earlier in the week, fined a woman $42 for wearing a burkini at the beach. They also ordered that she removed the swimwear. Read it here.

Political correctness will be the death of the developed world. The middle easterner’s will never grant you the freedom they request in your country. They should learn to live like Europeans or go bak home where they are free to cover up and leave just their eyes. This is what they will turn france to when you give them an inch: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/19/man-stabs-french-woman-and-her-three-daughters-for-being-scantil/

France is not a Muslim country. It gives freedom to all religion but they have right to their laws especially in the midst of terrorism. The Paris attack is still fresh in everyone’s brain. And never know how far these Muslim extremists can go, they come up with different ways to attack every time. It’s after the effect West react. Take precaution as much as you can now. Muslims, human right activists should go protest in many of these Muslim countries where women are in bondage, they are not even allowed to go to the beach let alone sit there. They want freedom to do whatever, even abuse it in western countries but fanatically obey the laws in Muslim countries. If you can’t abide by the rules, then go back to live in bondage. This same people turn around to bomb the same country that gives them freedom and none of them speak against it to condemn.

So tell me how Banning Burkini will stop terrorism? Just because of fear, no one has the right to enforce the choice of clothing. None of the previous attackers wore burkini that we can remotely even say their rational makes sense for enforcing a ban. Mind you there are French citizens who are also Muslims. The court got it right. France as to work on assimilating foreigners instead of vilifying them. US & Canada has done a good job at this. Granted you will still have lone wolves and psychos this is where extra security comes into place. There was no excuse on the Nice government not to barricade a street where hundreds of people were going to be gathering. they should focus on security instead of vilifying innocent citizens on the beach. Those that carried out the terrorist attacks recently did so regardless of the religion of their victims.

European countries have a problem. In their attempt to create a just and democratic society, they inadvertently make laws that enable Islam to flourish. A government makes a law to ensure the secular nature of French society and promote homogeneity so that people are not easily identified by the way the dress, and the court nullifies the law, accusing the government of Islamophobia. In other words, they are telling the world that the French government is Islamophobic. But if terrorists were to strike again, it is the goverment that would be held accountable, not the courts. If this burqini ban is lifted, terrorists would be able to identify and kill non-muslim women when they attack the beaches. Once upon a time, there were no muslims in France. Then France became industrialized and prosperous and the need for foreign workers arose. Workers who would do menial jobs that French citizens wouldn’t deign to do. They decided to invite blacks who profess the same faith as they did, but on second thought, they decided not to. After all, “blacks are no different from monkeys”, they thought. Then, they invited the arabs who were brown in complexion but were muslims. They also thought the brown arabs were inferior to them, but they would rather have brown arab muslims than black christians. “Though brown is inferior, it is the next thing closest to white”, they thought. So they let them in, hundreds of thousands. At first, everything seemed ok. Then, the arabs began to breed like rabbits. Their numbers quintupled in no time and today, they make up more than 10percent of France’s population. The muslim population is projected to increase rapidly and France is likely to become, the first major western European country with a muslim majority in the nearest future. Who is to blame?

Eh it won’t stop terrorism. Just like how taking away guns won’t stop violence but it’s good to be cautious .Why can’t France enforce their laws, sebi na their country. Just how naijas fight that U.S should stay away from their gay laws. Muslim countries enforce their own laws on non Muslims. I don’t like how people are quick to judge America and Europe, like they should allow anything just bcos they are oyibo. Allowing everything is what got them in the trouble they are in now.

The Supreme Court in France has made it clear that the ban is against the rules of France. So it’s clear that those who made the rules banning the burkini are the ones not following rules. This has nothing to do with weather or not France is a Muslim country. Freedom is a two way street, the common denominator is choice. A right for a person to choose whatever the want to wear. The French court made it clear, this is not a French law it was a rule made by racist wimps that wanted to appease their factions.

Justice prevailed. You all with dark racist views are no different ISIS, with the exception that ISIS act out their own sentiments. If they give you a gun, you will probably start killing muslims. I end my last comment regarding this issue with a question as Christian as someone who is anti-prejudice. Imagine if Blacks/Nigerians were carrying out terrorist attacks in France, and some towns decide to make a law banning all blacks from all beaches or even from the country all together purely because France is a historically European country and only those who are white should be the only ones enjoying the beach or France. How would you feel if you as a black French citizen here this, mind you, you are born and raised in France and it has never been an issue until now. Prejudice has many faces, just because a certain group is discriminated upon based on the crime of a few doesn’t mean your demographic may not one day be next, Jews were the targeted group before these terrorist attack in France, Irish were once the targeted group in New York and Boston, blacks are still being targeted in the western world. Christ thought us to love one another. I feel its foolish to apply a one size fits all on a group based on their race,

You don’t even know what you are saying. They didn’t ban muslims from the beaches. Mind you, if a French christian were to go to the beach with a religious item, he or she would be arrested and fined. So, what are you saying?

3 words: Muslims are winning! Period.

When a secular or Christian country enforces laws that Muslims don’t like, they scream. Note that they aren’t limiting the freedoms of Muslims, but just limiting their religious expressions.

But when an Islamic or Semi-Islamic country (ex. Nig, Egypt, N. African Countries) enforces laws that limits Christians religious expressions (and kill them sef), Muslims HIDE because they know the truth. God is watching all of you, and I sincerely believe in people reaping what they sow.

See the double standard. So my Muslim brothers and sisters, I hope you fight for us Christians when we plead to have our religion expressed as well in Islamic and Semi-Islamic countries.

    Peace.
