A former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, has retrieved 48 of his properties seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), PUNCH reports.

The report stated that some of the inscription ‘EFCC, Keep Off’, on the gates or fences of the properties,, located mostly in highbrow areas of Abuja such as Wuse II and Maitama, had been wiped off the buildings while some of the buildings had been rented out.

The EFCC had slammed Sylva, who contested the 2015 Gubernatorial Election in Bayelsa State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), with 50 charges and arraigned him before three federal high courts in Abuja.

PUNCH’s report stated that one of the buildings, which contains 16 units of service apartments at Plot 1181 Thaba Tseka Crescent, off IBB Way in the Wuse II area of the Federal Capital Territory, costs N6m per annum, including a N1.5m service charge.

A guard at the property said, “When the EFCC sealed off this property, it was rotting away. However, it was re-opened a few months ago so we started to refurbish the property. We have repainted the property and we have started renting the apartments out.”

At another property located at 8, Sefadu Street, Wuse, Zone 2, a block of flats which comprises nine units (six one-bedroom and three two-bedroom), the rent  ranged from N1.5m to N3m

“Immediately the EFCC inscriptions were erased, all the flats were taken. There is no vacant apartment now,” the security guard said.

At a property located at 8 Mistrata Street, Wuse II, Abuja, it was observed that the property was a hotel, which charged between N25,000 and N45,000 per room.

The EFCC had seized the properties from the ex-governor in 2013 and was slammed with N19.2 billion fraud charge.

The EFCC was accused of abuse of court processes in the last ruling which was in November 2015 after two cases were dismissed by the courts. Te judge subsequently struck out the case.

The EFCC had earlier said that it is putting measures in place to appeal the case, a move which is not yet confirmed.

EFCC u people are very stupid and useless. if its to catch small small yahoo yahoo boys who are doing love scam on the Internet thats the one u will know how to do well. just see, 48 houses for one person. and I’m sure he has more houses in lagos, portharcourt, calabar etc.

efcc the biggest noise makers and sensationalists.

” The EFCC was accused of abuse of court
processes in the last ruling which was in
    November 2015″

so foolish. how can a big anti corruption agency like efcc make such a huge blunder like this. they go and arrest someone with zero evidence, they dont follow due process etc. why won’t the criminals who are sucking nigeria dry be getting away.

nigerian politicians are not afraid of efcc or law enforcement. they are so bold with their stealing.

what of saraki’s case? or has it vanished into thin air.

Why didn’t jonathan government allow him to retrieve it? Anybody under Apc most enjoy one benefit or the other, you may want to call it corruption but Apc call it compensation, a game of WE- WE. Mama taraba lost election and she was compensated with an [email protected] as a mininister. Silver lost no compensation but he must collect his asset back period

My heart bleeds for Nigeria…. A public servant owns 48 properties and the FGN is unable to make the charges stick & prosecute the accused.
Naija is indeed an animal farm! How can anyone take PMB seriously with his anti corruption fight?
I was a supporter of PMB, but this wasn’t the kind of change I was expecting… 2019 is right around the corner my fellow Nigerian’s and we need to make our votes count. This is a some BS

You didn’t apply your brain in 2015, you were carried away by their many lies and propaganda. Now you aint applying your brain again. It’s mere fantasy to assume that GMB will relinquish power in 2019..If he doesn’t return to Allah then he is your President till 2023 and his Presidency will get more devastating as time progresses.

On a different note BN, your editorial team is doing an awful job lately in proof reading what you’re posting which is filled with typos, this has been a complaint I’ve read and seen myself and your team doesn’t seem to be getting any better .. Please do not lower your standards because you think we either won’t notice or tolerate it.. This is part of what’s plaguing naija, ie, low expectations and not holding people or organizations accountable… Thank you

you couldnt have said it better to be honest! My son has a language delay, he is currently two and has not said one word. I have taken him to the so called BIG childrens hospital and not one diagnosis could be made, now I have to fly him outside the country to get a proper diagnosis. i dont understand why in a country like this ,there is no spirit of excellence or zeal to do better and learn more.

My son had too. Was going from one hospital to another until I met a lady at the embassy who told me same about her kid. Mine had his adenoids and tonsils removed. He’s better but not perfect. A speech therapist and psychologist are coaching him at school now and I can see great change. If you need help for your child LEAVE that country. All the best

I’m so sorry to hear about you son. My daughter experienced speech delay until she was almost 3years. We took her to different specialists and was told she has problem with her ears due to severe ear infections we she was a baby. With multiple therapy session, speech therapy, occupation therapy and eventually hearing tube in both ears; she can’t keep quiet for a second now.
My suggestion is to keep talking to him, read to him and if possible enroll him in a childcare. You will be amaze how his peers could help him!

I wish you and your son all the best!!

If any man be in APC he is a new creature! His sins will be washed away.
Sai anti kwuruption pight!!!! Kadara’s usual questions asking whether those indicted by Buhari stole or not? I wonder what response or questions she has these days!
For those thinking they will vote Buhari out in 2019,wake up from your deep slumber this is not GEJ! Go ask the people of Edo…. who requires your vote? Several communities in Edo were allocated votes whilst they waited all day for INEC officials to bring voting materials. The man at INEC will watch you defeat his cousin? Or Malami allow you remove his inlaw? Come’on Nigerians!
