Future Assured Initiative, an NGO of the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, is to partner with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to address challenges facing women and vulnerable children in Nigeria.

This announcement was contained in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria by her  Special Assistant on Media, Adebisi Olumide-Ajayi, on Tuesday in Abuja.

She said that the partnership would be perfected when members of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation meet Aisha Buhari on Thursday to discuss issues on improving the lives of women and children.

“Women and children face numerous challenges and vulnerabilities, yet, until recently, they have hardly been the centre of discussion at the global and national levels” she said.

Olumide-Ajayi said Aisha Buhari and the philanthropist, Melinda Gates are set to change this narrative with the partnership between the two humanitarian group.

“The meeting comes as an aftermath of one of the side meetings at the 71st UN General Assembly geared towards improving the lives of women and girls, where African First Ladies were gathered to make commitments to the development of adolescent girls in Africa.”

Olumide-Ajayi said that the Thursday’s meeting was expected to also have in attendance wives of the governors of the 36 states and the FCT Minister, and other relevant stakeholders.

    Aisha Buhari is confused much.

One time it’s malnutrition in the North, the next is women fighting corruption and now this?

Madam, choose a cause and stick to it. This is what happens when you don’t have a vision. See the VP’s wife and how she has stuck to her cause. Even as far back as Maryam Babangida, we remember what she stood for. If you continue like this, you will have no legacy. Stop looking for the highest bidder just choose a cause and stick to it.

She loves money. Anywhere the money comes from. Most foreign aid goes to the north, and be sure that probably only 10% might go to the causes.

@ Nene, this woman’s greed will soon destroy her ! She is greediest First Lady that Nigeria has ever had! And when someone is consumed by greed, it reduces their life span, like Gehazi in the Bible that brought leprosy on his descendants!!!

  2. Well, she doesn’t want to put all her eggs in one “Room”
I hope it means well and she succeeds in it.

Aisha’s a careful strategist. She always puts her eggs in the other room.

      Elementary, my dear! Elementary.
