Folorunsho Coker to Head Tourism Corporation not Film and Video Censors Board – Presidency

Folorunsho Coker

The Presidency has clarified that Folorunsho Folarin-Coker is the new Director-General for Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), not the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) as earlier announced on Friday.

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President made the clarification in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

He said Adedayo Thomas was the Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).

The statement read: “As part of new appointments approved for government agencies and parastatals by President Muhammadu Buhari on March 31, 2017, Folorunsho Coker, is the new Director-General for Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), while Adedayo Thomas, is the Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board, (NFVCB).

“This corrects the earlier announcement that Coker is of the National Film and Video Censors Board.’’

Recall that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in October 2016, fired 3 commissioners, including Coker, who was the then Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture.

The government however gave no reason for his sack at the time.

This is a good appointment, not that Sally woman that was there before.

I disagree. This is another “job for the boy” appointment with no pedigree in this specialized field. They always promote themselves rather the industry. That is why Nigeria is still the most backward in tourism industry in West Africa, despite the fact that NTDC had been established since 1963. Nigeria needs tourism lovers like Donald Duke with clear ideas about the industry.

Proves that this country is a joke. Went to his Godfather to ask for a job to prove his has more power than Ambode…petty! Unfortunately, Nigerian citizens are the scapegoats that have to suffer the consequences of these useless boys and their games.

Hmmm. Obviously a job for the boys. Why was he unceremoniously sacked by Ambode? No concrete questions asked before Coker gets elevated on a bigger scale.
