Khloe Kardashian Shares a Very Important Message for Armenia’s Genocide Anniversary
It’s been 102-years since the Armenian Genocide held on April 24, 1915. The Turkish Government (Ottoman Empire) arrested and executed several hundred Armenian intellectuals. After that, ordinary Armenians were sent out of their homes and sent on death marches through the Mesopotamian desert without food or water. The marchers were stripped naked and forced to walk under the scorching sun until they dropped dead and people who stopped to rest were shot. A total of 1.5 million Western Armenians were lost in the genocide.
Ever since then, the Turkish government has denied that a Genocide took place. The Armenians were an enemy force, they argue, and their slaughter was a necessary war measure and so their government have been reluctant to condemn the long-ago killings.
Celebrities like the Kardashian sisters who are of Armenian descent have made it a point of duty to speak out with the voice that they have. Khloe posted a picture of herself, Kim Kardashian and her cousins from her last visit to Armenia and captioned;
Today marks the 102-year anniversary of the Armenian genocide. In 1915, the Ottoman Empire committed mass extermination of 1.5 million Western Armenians. I am proud to be an Armenian!!! It is our duty to not be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation no matter their race or creed. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. It saddens me that history books don’t acknowledge such torture but my voice will be used to bring awareness to my people for being survivors!!! I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia. See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia. – William Saroyan
