Three suspected members of the gang that kidnapped six students of Igbonla Model College, Epe, Lagos have been reportedly arrested by the police.

PUNCH reports that a source said they were arrested in Benin City, Edo state after they came out of the creeks to visit one of their members who was injured in a gun battle with security operatives.

“Some arrests have been made. Specifically, three of the gang members have been arrested. Some of them got injured in the Friday gun battle. One of the injured was taken to Benin for treatment. The three suspects came out from the creek to visit him in Benin. The IRT team struck immediately and arrested them. They have already confessed to the kidnapping of the six pupils and they are cooperating with us. There is serious effort to rescue the children and arrest other members of the gang,” a source said.

The gunmen entered the school at about 6AM last Thursday after pulling down the fence. They headed for the boys hostel and took ten Senior Secondary School students.

Four of the pupils were later released after the gunmen profiled their parents.

The gunmen were said to have shot into the air at about 8PM on Wednesday but retreated after police officers and soldiers returned fire.

Details of the suspects were given as Endurance Egelu, aka Jubby, 25; Stanley Irabomini, aka Powei, 25; and Endurance Bentel, 24

Another officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the suspects “also confessed to have participated in the kidnappings of prominent personalities in Lagos and Ogun states, including the Oniba of Iba and pupils and staff members of the Nigerian Turkish International Colleges, Isheri.”

Lord give us victory in this matter
    And speedily
Send angels to confuse their kidnappers
    Turn them against each other
Reveal their hideout to our security agencies
Let all the boys be rescued unharmed

You be endurance but you no wan endure for life, na short cut to wealth you dey find. Una two go endure for kirikiri. I pray they rescue the children safe and sound. Lagos and Ogun State don turn kidnappers haven, and most of the perpetrators are outsiders. I remember when this kidnapping saga started, way back 2005/06, e no pass SE for people traveling home for Xmas and SS militants. Now, e don become course wey people dey go study and then graduate. From SS to SW, the story no dey finish for news. E no get tribe wey no dey involved now. Hausa men sef don dey enrol for the course. It is not enough to enrol children in good private schools anymore cos of security issues, private schools are targets now, while housemaid, drivers and gate men are at risk of the owners. God save Nigeria

Just as an aside, I went to the market this evening and people where gisting around me and called a man’s name and their countenance changed, so I inquired to know if the man died or was arrested and they said these men went for a burial last week Thursday and where returning to Port Harcourt from Imo state, when they got to Omerelu/Elele they saw two hefty guys shooting their bus the driver tried maneuvering but it wasn’t OK, so he stopped the passengers all lowered themselves in the bus like they where dead and one of the Kidnappers was like they should slaughter them the other said no they’re already dead just leave them. That’s how they left them and carried the ones that where alive till date they’re not released, when they left, those ones on the floor ran for their lives and saw police men, reported the incident to them, the police men said they heard the gunshot but they’re not matched with the kind of gun those guys have to fight them.
The rate of kidnapping is terrible in this country if you want to kidnap, kidnap those government officials in high positions. Not fair what they put families through.
