Read Richard Mofe-Damijo’s Touching #FathersDay Message

Richard Mofe-Damijo shared this touching Father’s Day Message today.

When I was younger, I looked at my dad as very old and now, In a changing world when 70 (years old) is the new 40, I wonder how my kids look at me-lol-. I am grateful I can relate better with my children, have conversations rather than just give orders/instructions, have them run up to me when I get home rather than run off into their rooms.

I have resolved to evolve with them, watch trends closely and keep finding ways to keep up with them without losing the values I hold dear and want to impart in them.

To every father providing not just financially but also providing the love, acceptance, emotional and spiritual stability their children need. To every father looking for ways to win or retain the confidence of their children in a changing world. To every father striving at being a better dad than our fathers were. To every father who has resolved to raise their kids better than our parents did, I say Happy Father’s Day and I pray for you today that God will furnish you exceedingly and abundantly with all the wisdom and resources you require to be the father your family needs. God bless you all.

With all the love and messages of the last twenty four hours, my heart goes out to ….kids and adults around the world who have never experienced the love of a father, my friends and people all over the world who’d lost a father….I pray that you daily experience the love of GOD the father
….and to beautiful, strong, hardworking single parents(male or female), widows and widowers, working daily to be all that the child(ren) needs…..HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!!

Mmmm…..Sorry RMD but I think it’s debatable whether today’s fathers are better that yesteryear s’ fathers.
In my opinion, some of today’s fathers are over-indulgent – trying to compensate for giving more time to work/business. Some today’s fathers do not even work hard while some are into cybercrimes or simply too lazy waiting around for easy money and self-made women.
In the midst of all this, there are still some today’s fathers that have raised the bar.
It was unheard of that yesteryears’ fathers would help their children cheat in examinations or arrange special examination centres unlike today’s fathers.
Of course, yesteryears’ fathers DO NOT check all the boxes for excellent fatherhood. Some were very authoritarian and distant yet most held the right moral values which they taught their children.
