2017 Ake Arts and Book FestivalThe 2017 Ake Arts and Book Festival officially kicks off today until Saturday, November 18th and we are excited to be partnering with OkadaBooks for the 5th edition happening in Abeokuta.

Over the years, Ake Festival has united both authors and readers of African Literature, while showcasing the other genres of literature from the spoken word to theatre and discussions along with a general theme.

The theme for the fifth edition of the Ake Arts and Book Festival is ‘This F-word‘ and events will focus largely on creative women doing amazing things both on the African continent and beyond.

In the next 3 days, there will be book chats with authors such as Nnnedi Okorafor, Olumide Popoola, and Ismael Beah. Toke Makinwa and Samira Sanusi are among a number of panelists who will share their journeys and successes. While young authors like Amara Nicole Okolo, and Diekara Oloruntoba will feature in early bud sessions.
