So the worst kept secret is that I have a new film coming out this year called “King of Boys”. YES… It’s time.

She also revealed that she’s giving her fans a special chance to make a cameo in the movie, writing:

You will be hearing about this a lot more in the coming weeks but I wanted to kick start proceedings by opening this exclusive chance to the amazing people that follow and support me everyday. I would not be in this position of making a second film if it wasn’t for the love and support of you guys, and it would be an honor to give a couple of you a chance to cameo in my second film.

As The Wedding Party 2 by all accounts is more mediocre than the first one, think we can all agree Kemi Adetiba was not the only problem. Otherwise they would have made a masterpiece second time round ?

A movie that broke so many records and you are here saying it’s mediocre. What’s the meaning of mediocre in the first place sef?

Yes it broke many records because of massive PR and it was a feel good movie about what nigerians are obsessed about-weddings. But from a professional and artistic angle, that movie lacked substance,no depth, poor acting etc. Not hating but just stating facts, most average nigerians cant see this.

Broke what records? Dont be deceived. Saying it made 500m was all part of the PR! I’m an insider and truth is only about 20m was made. It was just really good PR

      @Mondela
Thanks for enlightening crazyworld. Nigerians need to have it stick to their brain, quantity vs quality are two different things. Nigerians are easily carried away by flashy things. Wedding party was one of the most mediocre movies I’ve ever watched. There are other Nigerian movies with better content, acting skills and story lines even ones done in the village. The only difference is, the lighting in wedding party was good, very colorful and no outrageous shouting/noises. Talk about great publicity, kudos to their marketing team.
The same applies to Nigerian weddings. The high number of weddings does not translate into the success and how healthy these marriages are. It’s all hype and show off.

My 15 year old niece watched wedding party over Christmas becos I asked all of us in my house to watch together. Mind you, this is a young girl that has lived all her life in the UK. The first thing she said after a few minutes is “good lighting” then, it went down hill after that? She asked why the bike man was delivering the IV on the wedding day? Why is the bride’s rich father at the reception, running around like a lunatic? Why is the wedding decor of a supposedly rich family so sparse etc. That is a 15 yr old o. Nigerians like medicocrity. The wedding party is all hype.

a bad movie maker is a bad movie maker no matter how much support u give him or her.

most nigerian directors just don’t understand the art of movie making.

I sincerely HOPE she sets herself apart with this new movie. We will support her, but that does not mean we will eliminate critiquing her work. I will use this new movie to finally decide if she was the problem of wedding party or the ineptitude of the rest of production team. I am leaning towards the production team. How can a basic plot have so many question marks?

    • Biker Chic

      January 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm

@Engoz, I agree this has nothing to do with being a female movie maker. She is not the first Nigerian female movie maker. Biko. Let us tell ourselves the truth. Constructive criticism does every one some good. The wedding party was wack given all the promo and publicity.

Wedding Party 1 was not great. But I was at the Arabian nights screening. Yes my outfit was accurately Arabian. 🙂 And my only comment after seeing Wedding Party 2 is, Kemi Adetiba did an amazing job. That is how bad part 2 is.

I don’t know which is funnier, you wearing the ‘Arabian’ costume or the major flop of part 2, lol

Agreed, Wedding Party 2 was awful. Just bad.

However, I want to give a shout out to the British girl (the central character). I really was impressed with her acting, she was the most invested and believable out of the entire cast…. only seconded by Patience Ozukwor (but to be fair, that’s a role she can play in her sleep, having played it 500,000 other times). Frank Donga would have shone if he’d had better lines….. but for the rest? Dismal. Especially when you consider that cast was meant to made up of Nollywood’s A-list.

I heard she didn’t write the script, jare. It is a brilliant script written by someone else who she refuses to give credit to. But I shall keep my lips sealed. Used to think she was talented until I heard the gist from a reliable source. Shhhhio
