We just have to admit Wizkid has a very uncoordinated team. I mean if he wasn’t busy Fking his manager and getting her pregnant, he would have been more prepared & showed up for such a big event. Your team don’t love you my dear.

@nametalkem, no mind Naija haters. They make it seem that the embassy works according to our schedule. Abegi, you can apply for your visa one year ahead and the embassy will get around to it when they want to.

They wouldn’t have denied him a visa with a valid invitation to perform at Coachella.

Nigeria and Nigerians make an interesting cast study.

It is common knowledge that it is difficult for Nigerians to get a US visa (and especially so in the current Trump climate). It is also common knowledge that applicants do not dictate when visa decisions are made and that the US Embassy regularly makes last-minute decisions in regards thereto. It is even more common knowledge that even Nigerians on official assignment or representing Nigeria at international games, events and conferences have had their visas delayed or applications denied at the last minute. Yet, despite all this common knowledge, the reaction to this news story has not been to blame the US Embassy or even the Nigerian government (if for nothing else, for creating the conditions that makes foreign countries wary of granting visas even to employed Nigerians). Rather, the comments here have reflexively been to blame and deride the VICTIMS here.

While Wizkid (a veritable “cultural ambassador” who has aptly demonstrated how “soft power” can overcome DECADES of ugly press – and deservedly so in many instances – and prejudice directed at Nigeria and Nigerians, and has done more to culturally promote Nigeria and wins friends for Nigerian than all government delegations, conferences and events put together) will proceed on to the festival with his band (or a rump thereof) next week, the comments here and the mindset they reflect aptly epitomizes yet again that NIGERIANS are Nigeria’s biggest problem. Carry on folks!

      What are you saying??? Ehn?

Is it our fault that this boy has already set a PRECEDENCE? Did you notice that no one was SURPRISED?

See I’m not against you from practising your Brighter Grammar but not for this person. #ifyouknowyouknow

@Trinitee, he’s saying that it is the fault of the embassy (which it likely is, because even last minute visas can be issued if they want to do so – or if you are a Tinubu or Zahra Buhari), but because we act like crabs in a bucket we place the blame on our own. Colomentality!

It’s vain displaying “whatever whatever”, regardless of which side you are on. Excuses true or not. He has missed the show and hopes to ” drop it like it’s hot” in the 2nd week. So, wait for that!

One Africa Music Fest 2016, New York
Wizkid announced to the crowd that his band ‘couldn’t make it’ and proceeded to lip sync and jump around the stage. The headliner!
    So disappointing.
    This is becoming a pattern
    Wizkid we are watching
