INEC releases Statement concerning Online Sale of PVC | BellaNaijaThe Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released a statement concerning the online sale of Nigerian Permanent Voters Card (PVC).

Nigerians had on Sunday found PVCs branded with the Nigerian colours and logo listed on Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.

People had raised an alarm, asking what implications the public sale of the cards meant.

INEC has released a statement, revealing that the clone and sale of the cards were anticipated and measures have been taken to ensure their security.

The commission added that in addition to these measures, they are also working to further secure the election materials, and from next week, there will be a systemic hardware and software upgrade of all the Smart Card Readers nationwide.

The commission will also engage the government and security agencies to find how the cloning and sale came about, they added.

Wahala… it is not about taking the advert down but finding the source of the advert and doing everything within the limits of diplomacy to make sure it doesn’t repeat itself on any of the global e-commerce platforms! una matter just tire me!

Only in Nigeria…where else can something like this happen? I refuse to give into my fear of it being a waste of time to even cast my vote. To be honest, we don’t have the right structures in place to make this work. I think we really just think of ourselves and forget the grassroots a lot of fraudulent stuff will happen. How I wish there are different centers based on our geo political zones like all northerners should cast their votes in Abuja on certain dates, All southerners in port harcourt, easterners in Enugu and westerners in Lagos this will curb a lot of fraud and monitoring the elections will be much easier for international communities and others alike of course processes will be put in place like an effective transport system which may cost us a lot but having the wrong leader will cost us even more. Castles in the air thoughts.
