“What we are finding is bigger than what the mouth can say”: More Details Emerge About Busola Dakolo’s Complaint Against Biodun Fatoyinbo

On Thursday, news made the rounds, saying Busola Dakolo, who had accused Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo of raping her when she was 16, had filed a complaint against the clergy.

The Nation reported that the police have begun investigation into the complaint.

According to YNaija, Busola Dakolo’s legal representative filed the petition at the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Lagos on 27th June, 2019, a day before the release of the video where she narrated her harrowing story of rape by Fatoyinbo.

A police source confirmed the news, saying:

Yes, she already came to the police to file a case with us before she even came to the public. The case is here with us in Lagos. Some of the Ogas here say the Biodun man has found out and is trying to move the case to Abuja, but that is not possible because the lady in question is resident here and she filed here. An investigation is ongoing, and I am telling you, what we are finding is bigger than what the mouth can say.

Who says Busola is a victim? She said she was raped 20 or so years ago. Why do I have to believe her story? What evidence does she have? She has to prove the pastor had sex with her in the first place, she has to prove the sex was not consensual and she has to prove she was indeed a minor then. She has a long way to go.

Huh? Who is asking you to believe her story? Rotflmao! You must think you are important. Who are you deceiving with the evidence line? When we know the only evidence (especially in this case) is Fatoyinbo admitting to being a RAPIST. I don’t blame you, it is the flawed criminal justice system that did not consider the fundamental flaw that rape is mostly a private crime that would be hard to produce evidence (and even if you go to the hospital/police for detail your rape, the rapist can claim ‘consensual sex’) I blame. So all the Nigerian girls and women who have been raped, abused, harassed and molested, should just keep mute because of ‘lack of evidence’ and let you rapists continue to prowl the streets, churches, workplace? Since I don’t see Fatoyinbo admitting to rape in the nearest future, and considering his precedence that has raised all SUSPICIONS, I stand with Busola. And I am glad he released that statement talking about never having any ‘private interactions with her beyond his pastoral duties’. He cannot then turn his defense to the typical rapist response after been cornered ‘it was consensual sex’.

Why are nigerians so heartless, u hear an issue of rape, instead of u supporting d victim, ur still crucifying her, i see people like this have lost their minds and maybe you or your sister havent been raped before, 7 out of 10 girls have either been raped before or there was an attempt, what i expect nigerians to do is encourage her to bring out proofs to further bring him to justice but ya’all wana eat her raw, what a heartless generation.

I’m finding many disgusting comments and people who lack basic empathy. Hence fueling the rape culture in Nigeria and silencing victims.

Serious minded people are indeed lacking. Laughing at every damn thing! People have suffered as a result of this alleged crime.

I hope and pray justice is served.

      July 6, 2019 at 1:43 pm

Yeah sure sis, and sooooo many girls who do partial “runs” with powerful men for money are victims too right? Rape my foot. Then she dates his cousin, I’m assuming slept with that one too…I wonder why that wasn’t rape

Grow up and stop this feminist me too rubbish, EVIDENCE not ALLEGATIONS is what justice needs.

I’m so disgusted and disappointed how lightly Nigerians take the issue of rape. It shows how sickening their mentality is. Whether Busola and Biodun had a relationship or not shouldn’t be the focus. This is not the only woman who accused Biodun of rape. In any civilized country, rape with a minor is unacceptable even if she initiated it. Unfortunately, the age of consent in Nigeria is 11yrs old(that alone is sickening).

I’m not just standing with Busola, I’m standing against the rape and sexual abuse culture that has been become the norm in Nigeria. It’s become part of the culture.
Nigerians are used, accustomed to dysfunctionality where wrong has become justified. . Which is the reason the leaders have been allowed to abuse them for so long, and they are used to it. Just because you are used to something doesn’t make it right.

I miss those times, Bella naija had a platform to share different opinions and informative, logical responses. I’m still trying to figure out what really happened to this website. We the followers deserve an explanation.

Nope don’t live in Naija sorry, like the demonic American women who after they are scorned or jilted or actually get what they want in their careers from powerfulen claim rape, it takes away from actual rape victims who are violently destroyed (not the ones who play around their rapist and keep going them YEARS after). There IS a difference and some women are lying…I don’t believe her period.

Oyin, save your breath till justice is delivered. Why cry more than the bereaved???? You dont need to believe anything please. Before Busola, there was Ese. After Busola, another Lady showed up! I guess they are all bitter because of a relationship that went bad right? What is it with the pastor and WOMEN????

I’m not in support of rape and stuffs like that.what I don’t really get is why now.afterabout 20 years n she finally realises it’s time she spoke just wondering what poked her.

    July 7, 2019 at 1:15 am

To all of you leaving nasty comments here, asking why she’s only speaking now and accusing her of other illicit sexual activities, I pity you. You are truly the scum of the earth and it truly shows in your comments. As a woman who knows what Nigerian men are capable of and the near-misses I experienced as a young girl, I feel sorry for Nigerian women. People like you are the reason why rape victims will never speak out because you always have a reason to undermine the victims.
As for those accusing her of dating other men after the incident, that is a moot point. Just because a woman was raped does not mean that she stops living and dating, and just because she does not speak out does not mean she is lying.
When women make rape allegations against a man, be quiet and let the appropriate channels deal with it. You do not know what a rape victim goes through that is why you can be so callous.

I return your scum comment back to you. Bullying people who don’t agree with you doesn’t make you intelligent or correct. We don’t know the truth and evidence is what the world needs including timely reporting. Rape is a crime so both accuser and the accused must be investigated WITHOUT bias.

For all you bleeding hearts hurrying to comfort victim, lambasting any critical minded person for daring to Ask basic questionns to get at thee truth of the matter, don’t worry. Your Evil day is coming when your father’s, uncles, brothers, son is accused of rape. Yes o on that day may the same type of one sided unquestionable justice apply to them. Yes as you judge so shall you be judged. In this case the actual Victim is the Liar. At present I don’t no who is telling the truth or lying that is why I support an investigation and I ask questions too. If any of my female relations tells me they have been raped. I will ask serious questions yo MAKE SURE we are actually talking about RAPE NOT REGRET.

All off you asking for fact n evidence from an incident that happened 20 years ago from a 16 year old are stupid goats sorry to say, so a woman know or prepare herself for rape n collet collect evidence after,u expecting her to have hidden camera or dna samples from his sperm, why don’t you go put the pastor on lie detector 1st

    July 8, 2019 at 10:17 am

I don’t get this wicked generation!!! if you haven’t been raped before shut up already because you can never empathize with someone unless you have walked in their shoes. so if it was 50 years ago she was raped she should just keep quiet and die in silence abi? the young woman has made her accusations public, she has filed her report officially can we just keep our stinking opinions and see the end of the matter? that is exactly why rape victims keep quiet…rape is thriving abundantly in Nigeria because the predators are glorified and the victim villified. if you are a man making stupid comments here may your female loved ones never experience this, and if you are woman making horrific comments here may God help you. a woman is raped, and the first idiotic insinuation is that its her fault… what was she wearing, she must have seduced the man… the under aged children being raped in our country seduced the men too abi? Nigerians allow her to find closure if her allegations are true and allow her to face the music if her allegations are false. be human while you wait!!!!

Oyin, why are you wailing upandan all over the comment section if you don’t have an agenda?

Your fellow rape apologists / sheepies are on nairaland and even there, they are being blasted by right thinking people.

    July 8, 2019 at 10:36 am

I read the responses from Funke Adejumo and Poju Oyemade, Biodun’s “mentors” and those responses speak volumes. Yet some of you here are wailing up and down trying to demonize the victims. Can you know Biodun more than those in his inner circle? Did Ese and the other victim not point him out as well? Is he the only pastor in Nigeria?

Dysfunctional insensitive human beings who thrive in an environment of evil. Your agendas are dead on arrival.

Wow didn’t know my opinion generated so much hatred….social media hysteria

I don’t know this pastor or lady and could care less, very annoyed Nigeria is dealing with this rubbish news when ruga is about to take over the society

    Clearly misplaced priority

Ultimately God knows the truth so please stop the court of public opinion because it is trendy for some women to play victim, while real victims are ignored.

Let’s get it right and stop the manipulation
