187 Nigerians Arrive from South Africa
The first batch of Nigerians being evacuated from South Africa have arrived the country through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The returnee Nigerians, 187 in number, departed their base in South Africa around 4:00 p.m aboard an Air Peace Boeing 777 aircraft, which landed in Lagos at 9:34 pm Wednesday night.
The Nigerians were received by the Chairman, Nigerian Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa and the Chairman of Air Peace airline, Allen Onyema.
Dabiri-Erewa informed returnees that the government had made available to them N40,000 recharge card to enable them communicate with their family members, The Nation reports.
Out of over 600 Nigerians who registered for evacuation from South Africa, about 313 were billed to leave on Wednesday, but most of them could not travel with the first flight due to lack of travel documents.
