Jen calm down jo! it’s an international brand. The clothes are not “local content” for crying out loud. The Nigerian shop is only a franchise. Get a grip of yourself girl.
Any business student will tell you that when franchising in a foreign country, using local models from that country is the only sensible approach
International yes! Franchise yes of course! but their stores around the other parts of the world are modelled by local models with the exception of well-known “super models”. Same with other high-street stores why did they open a franchise in Nigeria and can’t even use even an African born model. Seriously!!!
Guys seriously though, each company has it’s own policy and strategy. I’m sure business student’s know that too. And I guess theirs is working cos i am so goig to their shop this weekend to get me that cute denim dress or one that comes close.
To hell with franchise. Does any law or rules guiding franchise forbid the use of local models? What the hell are you saying about franchise. Why do we always neglect our own people and yet expect us to become a great nation. It is Nigerians that will not value their languages and call it vanacular and forbid the kids from even speaking it at homes. I pity each and every one of you following this trend. We are gradually loosing our identity and embracing that of other people that does not even have half of what we have. “Igbeyin loma dun oloku ada yin”. I pray we don’t all live to regret this attitude. Much as we appreciate Mango coming to Nigeria, it wouldn’t be too much to ask them to use our models in the country. We have millions of them everywhere. Haba!!!!!!!. Se yen poju lati bere ni?

I have made this point before on this website, and one patriotic Nigerian started insulting me. These Mango people are not serious at all, gone are the days when we looked abroad for direction in everything.
I mean Nigerians still like to copy the west, but at least in fashion and pop culture “Naija” is in. These Mango people have obviously not cottoned on to this fact otherwise they wouldn’t be showing us these foreign models. Bella please tell them oh, sebi you’re a media partner to Mango.

well if a Nigerian brand were to take its lookbook to India, I bet you it would not have Indian models. Thats their image and they want to keep it consistent for the season. Big brands thrive on consistency
where are the nigerian models?! cos u’re all know mango india/saudi arabia etc would use the local models to advertise in other countries so why cant they use nigerian models in nigerian and why are we accepting this folly?! na de way you present ya thing people go take am o. if we(naija folks)consider anything nigerian inferior to things western we will continue to be treated as such. word!!

Does it matter …..isnt a better argument , will the clothes fit african /nigerian shapes…..Mango has only one store in Nigeria that does warrant reshooting an entire ad campaign for it. its a purely business decision….Not everybody is out to get us.
I know the people complaining will never buy Mango at full price anyways .
