launch fashion label CLAN

Nigerian designer Deola Sagoe has some new competition on the fashion scene! Nothing to worry about though as this is competition straight from home - Clan is a new fashion label by sisters, Teni, Aba and Tiwa Sagoe, daughters to Deola Sagoe. The ethos of the label is “a fresh and irreverent style, for edgy, style-conscious girls and guys who like to stay ahead of the fashion curve“.

According to a press release received today,

The label is targeted at the teenage to thirties demographic, offering dynamic fashion that’s easily accessible, yet savvy and distinct. The current line offers separates from bra-lets, high waisted print shorts and Ankara bustiers to casual lounge dresses and swim wear, as well as wardrobe staples such as chiffon shirts and dainty lace skirts for the free-spirited and young at heart.
The foundation for many of the girl’s creations is the Deola Sagoe- DEO jeans range, which is the perfect match to Clan tops and bra-lets. The overall look is super-stylish, an essential resource for what the cool girls and guys are going to be wearing next…

On the 13th of August 2011, Clan will launch with their first fashion show, held at the Deola Sagoe Flagship store in Victoria Island. In keeping with the ideology of collaboration and togetherness the show is being put together by the girls, a committee of friends, and invested in by sponsors who have been charmed by what they have seen of the girl’s talent. Grey Goose and Bacardi, product brands marketed in Nigerian by GDN, are proudly sponsoring the event, so too internationally acclaimed architect Kunle Adeyemi of NLE, who is taking time out of his busy schedule to redesign the space and ambiance of the Deola Sagoe flagship store. Hosting the event is Q Events, a subsidiary of Quintessentially Nigeria, the well known luxury lifestyle management company.

Again, the model layin w her hand across the other has short arms. Bad pic.

      Beautiful…….. Impressed!

    • eloho August 6, 2011 at 1:51 AM

Cool! I would have loved to know how old they were. I am with Mary on this one and BTW no one’s hating. When i saw targeted at teenages to thirties; i got excited…but really, i wouldnt let my 12-16 year old sister or niece wear these out oh! Showing their tummy like this? call me old-fashioned…fine! But this is just a sneek-peak so i expect more. Great to see young girls using their building on their mother’s growth instead of weeisting away! hehehe!

    • THE AMAKA August 6, 2011 at 8:35 AM

i agree it has been done before but its cute….
      all the girls are GORGEOUS!

    • valerie August 6, 2011 at 9:56 AM

      ermm woooow genious? issorai

    • coolcat August 6, 2011 at 12:20 PM

@ eloho, I see ur line of thinkin but hve u been to teenage parties recently? They r wearin cropped tops, bum shorts, bra tops…even @ ordinary shoprite I see them parading d most flimsy outfits. I was @ a 10 year bday party last year and d pOor girl was forced to wear 4″ heels by her mum. U could see d pain and discomfort on her face but her mum vehemently refused dat she wear flats. I’m just sayin dat teens hve evolved, this actually is d fashion they hve embraced and for d sagoe girls to venture into this is absolutely genius.

For those expectin more I’m pretty sure a full collection will b on display @ d opening. They wouldn’t wanna give everything away now would they?

I’m hoping theycater to bigger women like me cos I can’t pull off this mid rif tops o

    • Isoken August 6, 2011 at 4:44 PM

wow, this is really cool, didnt know she had such big gals, hmm, she sure doesnt look it.

    • Luvlyn August 6, 2011 at 10:06 PM

I tot we wud at least seen a pic of d 3 girls or hav an idea how old dey r. A lil background mayb?? I didn’t know deols S was even married , let alone hav kids. Shez good looking. Who eva directed d shoot was aimless. I cudnt see d styles on d top and d models r too touchy touchy lol. All d same, its alryt I guess.
Ps: bellanaija kindly post my comment 4 once. I’m entittled 2 an opinion.

    • kathy August 7, 2011 at 9:53 AM

    • StephanieIj August 8, 2011 at 10:26 AM

Beautiful ladies.. Looolll @ Sweetie’s comment…they don’t have to cater to your whole wardrobe now.

Anyways, can’t wait to see pictures from the 13th August event.

    • http://dakkylove.blogspot.com/ August 8, 2011 at 1:22 PM

The only thing i have to say is that the photographer who shot that last pictorial should be whipped, how am i supposed to see the beauty of the bikini when the models lying position only shows off part of her ass, the model should have been placed properly so one could see the beauty of the bikini, as for the collection it’s nice but it’s clear the young ladies still have a long way to go, if they keep it up they will become world class like their mum..i support creativity

      • tatafo August 8, 2011 at 6:46 PM

you have a good point, but all the way to whipping the photographer?? lol

    • mii August 8, 2011 at 3:27 PM

      nice

    • igwe August 8, 2011 at 3:40 PM

      wow. who are the models?

    • Yhemmi August 8, 2011 at 4:49 PM

@coolcat, just becos everybody does it, doesnt mean its right. if ur 14 year old daughter dresses this provocatively, and u hear catcalls or older men being attracted to her, am sure u’d think twice about her dressing.
Fashion/dressing doesnt have to be reavealing to show its beauty. am young, and yep u can call me old fashioned.
Frankly i was expecting something more creative.

    • Ms♥Infamous August 9, 2011 at 12:08 AM

k, first of all..i never knew Deola sagoe had such beautiful daughters tho. they’re so pretty! then, yh i think the first pic is bad,, i cant see any design at all just black weave, legs and a red shoe. the shoot is supposed to be about the clothing not the model. Secondly, the designs are ‘nice’ yh, but i don’t see anything “Spectacular”..btw, i think their beauty overshadows that of the clothes cuz when i first went through the pics all i saw was beautiful girls, i dint even notice the outfits..they should work on that.

      • THE AMAKA August 9, 2011 at 11:45 AM

i’ve seen her daughters before at an event that was about jeans and polos (i think?) and those girls arent her daughters. i think they are just modeling the clothes. or maybe she has more daughters than im aware of

    • @theFact August 9, 2011 at 8:08 PM

these girls are not professional, they just got in the game recently. stop judging little things. plus, this is a peak of the clothing line, they dont JUST sell bikinis and bralets. they have dresses, jeans. wait for the real thing/come for the fashion show.
its summer. it was a sunny day, should they be wearing trench coats and clan-uggs? you go sagoe girls.

    • aty August 10, 2011 at 11:36 AM

      i love this concept

    • j August 15, 2011 at 9:05 AM

this are not deolas children they are darker this are there friends modelling..dont ge t it twisted

    • Miss PHC formerly Miss ATL August 15, 2011 at 11:19 PM

Can I just say that based on what’s shown, 30+ women are definitely NOT part of the target market??? I would think a 30+ year old woman wouldn’t need to be baring her body like that – the swimsuit, sure. But crop tops are NOT OK once you pass a certain age.

    • Bombchell - Atl August 16, 2011 at 12:21 PM

the models are pretty, nice photography, the clothes look cool though i’d prob have to starve myself to avoid looking like the michelin tire man in a tank top, i guess it’s for skinny girls. love the purple.

    • kem May 10, 2012 at 3:05 PM

hahahahahah, cant stop laughing sha, like seriously, new designs, ankara top with jeans……….all i see is show casing beautiful ladies with curves and all….anyway nice
