TW Magazine presents “The Phoenix Gala” – Celebrating Matriarchs and Protégés | Win Tickets to this Landmark Event

This September as TW Magazine celebrates her 4th anniversary and to mark this landmark, the magazine will be hosting The Phoenix Gala: Celebrating Matriarchs and Protégés.

The black-tie event is being held in honour of great Nigerian women who have made tremendous contributions to shaping our society, and for the next generation of women who keep those legacies alive by continuing to explore, build, grow and expand in their respective fields. The 10 fields selected are social activism, education, fashion, music, performing arts, business entrepreneurship, corporate Nigeria, print media, broadcast media and events management.

Honorees include Asa, Late Christy Essien-Igbokwe, Sade Thomas-Fahm, Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi, Genevieve Nnaji, Joke Silva, Bola Kuforiji-Olubi and Uche Eze.

    The phoenix is a mythical sacred firebird with beautiful gold and red plumage. It has a 500 to 1000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites,burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises thereby making it immortal. The Phoenix symbolizes rebirth.

    A phoenix is a mythical sacred firebird that can be found in the mythologies of the arabian, greek, egypt and persian. They appear only at 500years intervals. Its feathers are partly gold but mostly red. Its appearance and size is most like that of an eagle. Its lives on frankincense and odoriferous gums. When it has lived 500 years it build itself a nest on thetop of a tree.
    Oin thiss it collects cinnamon and myrrh which its builds a pile and deposits itself on. After death a new phoenix is reborn from it.

    The anniversary is on september 30th 2011 for this year . And continues for other subseqent years.

Am amazed at the though process of organizers and carefully reading the list of names to awarded you see a trend that with the passing away of the old( Mrs. Igbokwe) there is a rebirth of the new ASA/ Igbokwe; Genevieve / Joke Silva, , Lanre da Silva, Uche Eze. All amazing women charting new course in their fields and setting new trends. Applaudable cause.
