Since the label’s launch in April 2011, Orange Culture has grown to be a young and exciting brand in the Nigerian fashion industry. The Creative Director, Adebayo Oke-Lawal recently showcased two capsule collections: “Elusive Strength” and “Summer’s Quirk“ at Fab Night Out for Vlisco and Beth Male Model Search 2011 with Martini respectively. Comprised of ready-to-wear pieces, the capsule collections are the label’s second release since the its launch.
Elusive Strength: “The Elusive Strength collection was created for the Fab Night Out in conjunction with Vlisco. Fabrics include Vlisco, leather, lace and chiffon. The collection is about a misunderstood type of feminine strength; a strength empowered by a woman’s sexuality. It celebrates a woman who understands and owns her beauty and the power that it possesses, thus why the pieces are sexy, strong, but still very feminine.”

The collection is inspired by a very easy and colorful summer, its definitely for a fun loving guy, a guy filled with life, definitely a guy with a colorful disposition, rocking pieces suited to different fashionable summer experiences.”

BEAUTIFUL
Love the male collection.

What’s it with all the weir poses by the female model which don’t let me see the dress? eg pics 6 and 10..
Loved the mail model though…he looked at ease and in his element. Love the orange outfit and bluejacket.
Exactly my point..wats with d pose?
Am not so sure about the ankara pieces. ankara prints are colourful and exciting, but they’re not alwats very practical for things like trousers/pants. They tend to open at the seams under pressure and may not be very durable. But perhaps on a very thin person, they don’t have this problem?
I love the concept but I don’t know if I can pull the ‘loud’ colours off….love the male collection though..but then again I wonder how many naija men can pull it off lol

There are some really lovely pieces in both collections x

I think the male outfits were bordering on ridiculose! common except my man is crazy i had better not catch him in orange pants and top,or red blazer and pants who does he think he is, Kanayo.O.Kanayo? well i quite liked the light green on dark green ensemble, the red on blue was a no no, i like the dark coloured suit too, the female outfits were nice but no wow factor.just my two cents , Peace!!!
lwkmd @kanayo o kanayo….as in….i weeee die if my bf wears some psychedelic looking pants
wowwwww
i love this……… especially the male pics
i’m in luv wit d female model
d stylz wre wow!…mor on d guys
I LIKe the dude’ s pose…..
How do we get the pieces
The creative director missed the mark on both shoots. The female model doesn’t seem to know her angles. I’d imagine they just asked her to change up styles and picked whatever worked best. No real direction. The male model photographs a bit short (is it just me?) and doesn’t look like an actual model; just a pretty face. Did they really have him stand in front of the door on all the pictures? Like really? He just came out the door (probably the changing spot) and stood like a log. I’m not even a fashion director and I’d do a better job with the shoot.
Clothing wise, I actually like the female collection. Can’t say I’d wear some of the pieces, but I’d probably wear at least half; especially that signature piece of a dress. Uhmmmmm! Think the designer blends our traditional fabrics with good tailoring very well. The trash bag pants are a no for me though.
i think this is one of his est collections that i like. they are all nice
awwww i love every piece so wearable. great job
the guy’s dress no make sense
Hello!!!!! to that guy!!!!!
boring womenswear- I mean really? Badly shot too. The menswear is much more inspiring- Ankara trousers are the way to go but sadly very few men will team that with a sharp blazer. It takes an experimental dresser with loads of attitude to carry that off.C’mon guys try it!
guy=fierce
clothes, i like
summary– nigerians r trying. lets give credit for trying.
x
w4 mr wa gba kontrol will really appreciate this male collection.
I only love the female designs….I’m not sure abt the male collection
Excellent dress and well thought out, well-done bayo.
good for runways i guess but in the practical sense who would wear these outfits?
by d way the male model is gorgeous…
I just love the background for the guy model. I live broom stick standing beside the guy and also the hand holding the umbrella for him…lol
http://usaveone.blogspot.com/
both models are gorgeous!!! looove the clothes!!!
Is it me or does the male model look like Mr. Fonworth Bentley in the pics he had glasses on?
Anyway sha, the day my boyfriend comes out dressed like the male model is the day we break up. Ihukwa m nsogbu!
i absolutely love his point of view on menswear! i think its fresh and sexy!
I wonder why I’d quit a fulfilling relationship with my man, just because he dons ankara…..Well,I’m loving these…and I’d drink to that if he (my man)rocks these . Makes him creative;that’s fun for me!!!!Yay!!!
boooring………*yawns* am reli getting tired of the ankara craze! what next? ankara cars? and the male collection is ridiculous even gay men would find it overpowering
love the men collection I think they should design more menswear
i luv bayo oke lawal hiz so attractive……………………love the ladies collection nd not digging the male’s xoxo Demmy

love love love the male collection
so I see I’m the only one who noticed that Adebayo had to lend his models those his basket shoes and the black strappy sandals. Not that it takes anything away from the overall effect though. Carry on. Oh and may no man I’m associated with (father, brother, boyfriend, friend, cousin, whoever) ever come out dressed like these ones on here.
