nice…..absolutely gorgeous
These GH designers can copy. JBL & Ituen Bassey on display.
Copy who? JBL and who? what a joke! this chic indubitably is in a league of her own and its obvious. There’s no comparison between her and the designers u mentioned above, none whatsoever. Her collection, quality of materials and her finishing is
impeccable… pure class. Repping gh all day babyyyy
I disagree with you Lindsay, unless you can define copy.
Check…

I agree very ituen basi and JBL ….Christie browns collections I find it very child like, Ghanaians have alot of good tailors and seamstress but unfortunately they hardly do well as designers
THANK YOU O!! I was gonna say ITUEN BASSEY!!!
Christie Brown’s style is more oyiboistic! Why she copy ituen so? There should be a law in African AGAINST piracy like this! Haba!
could not really view the pieces. but the little I see look good.
Beautiful pieces. I would definitely purchase as few.
Wow, Aisha rocks…..u go girl!
Absolutely lovely!!

this is absolutely gorgeous
Real copycats…a lot of concepts stolen from naija designers JBL, Ituen basi and tiffany amber, however her finishing looks good tho…welldone christie.
Very stupid comment- who copies who.? and come out and use your own name and stop using Edwina Bandas name. BElla i have told you once, if you are going to post about Ghanaians on here and your ppl are going to talk NONSENSE – then dont post it. We dont need you to publicise anything for us. All these stupid remarks is annoying. If they will copy anyone it will DEFINATELY not be nigerians. Thanks
Ah ah na Take am easy, we are all sisters. Don’t take our comments to heart…it’s just friendly competition. You know because we are beautiful that why we find the need to compete. Trust me if it was the other way around we will not even bother commenting at all. Ghanaians, carry go! Great job.
lol @ GH..abeg no give yourself heart attack o.I dont think anyone singles out Ghanaian and insults them on BN.If you havent noticed they do the same to Nigerian designers.Plus they were so many other people that commended her work but you chose to focus on the negative comments. Relax!

Err… do we have an echo here???
ok, so i took the pains in actually looking at JBL, Ituen basi and tiffany amber designs and i dont see any copying at all….all four designs are totally diffrent. the only resemblance i see is that all designers are celebrating african prints. Christie Brown is really unique and i love it!!! and pls dont u make that mistake of comparing nija designers to gh desiners…..nija doesnt come close at all….u r just overratted!!!!!
Gosh! In love! Coloouurrrsss
I must say a big wao for Africa new talent. It’s been good
GH pls take a chill pill, even a child knows that most of d dresses look very much like Iteun basi esp those frilled jackets! I still love christie brown tho

I see Ituen Bassey inspired designs.
@”Edwina Banda”(please dont use that lady’s name )I dont think she’s copying any designer. Ankara is the trend of the moment and most African designers are running with it.It’s how well its sewn, the uniqueness of the style and of course the all-important details and finishing that makes all the difference and I think Christie Brown ticks all the boxes. Well done Aisha! Good to see my effortlessly beautiful Ghanaian sistas looking so fab on the red carpet. GH rocks!
I just do not understand why their websites are not on here…like seriously….. u just want to click n shop and there is no option..

amazing clothes. as for the copying allegations… abeg lets rest joor. if she copied then she copied and took it to new heights
. Btw Ghanaians were light years ahead of us in using ankara in contemporary ways. Im Nigerian. My mom used to make her ankara jackets in Accra when it was still a fabric relegated to “up and down” over here.
Ghana is slowly but surely coming up and very soon will be contending with the rest of the world in the fashion industry.. The upcoming Ghana Fashion week to take place late autumn will have the world setting their eyes on Ghana. There is alot of talent in Ghana….just watch the space.

wow.. i love the red carpet collections. really nice.. i like the way they all combined it even with their purses/clutches. Ghana’s always had beautiful styles for ankara.. nice.

i love ur concept!ankara is beautiful!!!!!!!
na wa ooo.the way u people comment here n there i guess d subsidy thing is just dawning on u.lets learn to appreciate people in business especially if u cant sell N10 biscuit n make N2 profit or do well in it,even if she copied atleast she was inspired to do something.what have u copied or made for others to copy?Bella naija is covering my launch soon and its gonna be featured here.am so waiting for your comments trust me u will meet me here.jobless idiots.
Lmaooo!!!! Onyinkan!!!! No kill me oh!! But I have learnt one thing about we Nigerians, we always criticise oh!!! Nothing new there! So saying, GH should take a chill pill, no be fight! People also criticise Nigerians abeg!! Onyikan, good luck with yours…….hope to see your launch soon!!!
I can actually see the vision behind the designs of christie brown! these pieces are very unique, you just have to have an awesome sense of style to make the looks classy, not too many accessories, cus the clothes are already accessorized ! the only thing i cannot stand is the booton necklaces :/ lol, everything else is a yes to me
http://thejeneration.blogspot.com/
am Nigerian and i dare say that fashion is copy edit and paste anywhere in the world!…i do not really care, as far as there is proper finishing and its lovely
Exactly! Nothing new under the sun. Whilst I don’t really care for the loud, bright, colourful/clashing patterns that seem to be the hallmark of her brand, I admit her styling is on point! Oh and can we have full length photos of a dress?
The clothes are too busy….
Ankara, Buttons, Feathers and Print on ONE outfit?! Haba! wear dat one and you’ll end up looking like a true BUSH African!
Lace, Ankara and Animal Print on another…. It’s just too much.
The tailoring is fantastic….. the Designs,…. not so much…..
am i the only one thinking this is really average…
if not that i saw the name earlier, i would have said its either ituen basi or jewel by lisa’s work….
all the same…nice job..
@omo thanks darlyn.its true we criticize our fellow nigerians too but really its not good.we shld appreciate d fact that they came up with something and employed one or two pple.d critics are the ones dat can never create anyfin so d beef starts.what they dnt understand is d pple in business will make their profit from them, their family, friends while they just yearn dust on blogs.guarantee.
CB absoultely ROCKS!! She’s a hard-worker and yes, her stuff is in a different league so haters please ooo!!
Nice jor. Lets appreciate her work people. I hope u ladies saying this na copy copy are coming up with something big to help africa
Dis is nuffin close to JBL.styles like dis has bin made years back. Its just d way we all translate our individual designs. Nigerians lik to say crap all the time. I’m a Nigerian and a designer. My clothes are coming up too soon. @ oyinkan, let them bring it on, we be 9ja too. We will trash them out lik garbage.
Christy………….YOU ARE BRILLIANT and representing Africa….i am lifted..
There is a problem with fashion in Africa! Designers have no integrity and are not ashamed to blatantly copy each other!!!!There is so much of Ituen Basi in Christie’s collection, not good!!!
If some of you say she has copied then it is in fact a nod in the right direction to the designers you mention she is by far younger than Ituen Basi but can stand with her. You must give credit where it is due Aisha Obuobi is incredibly talented!! Her attention to detail is impeccable. Please give her her a pat on the back. Aisha, kuishe!!Ayekoo!!!
I am proudly GhaNaija I come from the best of West Africa. xoxo
I am a bit underwhelmed to be honest. I eagerly clicked on the post, excited to see CB designs cos I have heard such good things about her designs and lo and behold I saw dresses and pieces that can be found anywhere and are actually staple pieces at most sale events. Even “Talior-Lo-Ran” now makes theses ankara button neck-pieces. That said, I love the outfits worn by the ladies in the last picture – Baaba Banda and Jihane. For those feisty Ghanaian ladies protecting their own, it’s okay. But remember that there is a place for constructive criticism and it can only make CB better, so no need to take it personal. Any opinion expressed here is just that – an opinion. You can choose to let it break you, make you or have no impact whatsoever. It is your choice at the end of the day.
Good luck to you CB and will definitely take time out to visit your store when I am in Accra.
PS: when did definitely change to definately? I have noticed a lot of people misspelling that word and I am wondering if the spelling changed and I somehow missed it?
I’m loving your tongue in cheek at the end…….
All designers copy…… Even the Ituenbassy, JLB, and Tiffany Amber are copycats no1. Do ur thing ur way.
I don’t see JBL or Ituen Basi, I just see another great designer working with African (ankara) print. People talking about “tailor-lo-ran”, I think you should focus on the quality and finishing of her pieces. We should all commend her for doing well, and creating a great brand and lots of jobs in Ghana. Why is everyone saying jbl though???? I don’t see any JBL-esque embellishment anywhere :S
Adelegirl – Lol @ Definately. I guess they spell it how they pronounce it.
Oh, and Christie Brown, congratulations on the launch of your new store! It all looks really amazing.
(From a Nigerian fan)
I must say the neck pieces and all are “inspired” by Ituen Basi, thats pretty obvious. But stating that does not take away from her talent……..Its not a Nigerian, Ghana issue, why do people like to ferment trouble unnecessarily.
Well, Ituen Badi must have been inspired by something or someone as well, no big deal.
I just love everything. Well done CB.
P.s: We’re first to scream blue murder when it comes to White people and racism and here we’re trying to perpetuate same amongst we blacks. Please stop it!!
Wow!!
adele girl.LWKMD on definately.u knw naija pple now.as we pronounce we write.debt nko with d “b” louder than anything when its meant to be silent.
Really, this is fabulous… viewing the pieces was actually entertaining…… Nice one Christie Brown
……..x!
I seriously take offence to the comment abou Nigerians not being the ones to copy. Ghanaians in all spheres…music, fashion, banking all the way to the negatives like our politics look to Nigerians and copy us…I have lived in Accra and Ghanaian ladies would rather date a Nigerian man…why? Nigerians ooze confidence! That said and with no intent of playing down Ghanaians, I love Christie Brown and Ghanaians and their simple approach to life…GH and NAIJA rocks! We are still cut from the same cloth!
Congrats to Aisha and Christie Brown on the store.
Bella Naija keep up the great work, I’ve been reading your posts for years and it is always a joy to visit you site.
If I may be so bold may I say… I think it is sad that as black people we are already so divided as it is but still find varying countries sniping at each other. Why can’t Ghanaians and Nigerians ever get along? Why must there be constant debate against each other on every social media site with reference to Ghana or Nigeria?
We all claim to believe in God whatever our religion. Yet in our religions we are taught we are one. If this is so, how is this constant trying to make one party seem less than the other right before God? Why are Ghanaians constantly taking snipes at Nigerians and Nigerians at Ghanaians?
I’m of Ghanaian heritage but have lived in Nigeria and other West African countries and see both the good and flaws in each country. Ghana can learn from Nigeria in a lot of things and Nigeria can learn from Ghana in other things. Both Countries could learn from each other.
I have lived most my life in the UK and the kind of racism (my brother was killed in a racist act) I have dealt with makes me incredibly sad to see to West African nations constantly at a war of words all over the net.
I look forward to the day that we see ourselves us brothers and sisters. Africa, particularly West Africa has so many issues that we will only see to if we come together. The amount of good that we could do if we came together instead of sniped at each other constantly (to the point that even non West Africans sit back and laugh at us ) could be of benefit. Afterall we have the same issues at hand in our countries, same need for development, less corruption, more job employment etc
I long for a day when will we see each other for what we are and realize the potential we could have if we could ever come together or at least see each other as cut from same cloth and not adversaries.
Remain blessed,
Marian.
p.s Bella Naija I have been meaning to compliment you on the design of your site, love that deep red design.
